Slightly odd article on the Kelly injury

http://www.thisisanfield.com/2011/02/ma ... ry-latest/

which goes all optimistic on us but then concludes that:

It is expected that Kelly will miss around a month of action

The club have said Kelly will be out for 4 weeks.

I'd assume Johnson will play at RB with Wilson (or a when fit again Aurelio or a when fit again Agger) at LB. Alternative is Carra at RB.

Applies whether playing 3 or 2 centre backs.

DANIEL AGGER is set to ease Kenny Dalglish’s injury problems with the Liverpool defender on the verge of a comeback.

The Danish international has missed the last three games after receiving a kick to his knee in the closing stages of the victory over Sparta Prague nearly three weeks ago.

Agger has made good progress with the club’s medical staff at Melwood and is in contention to face Braga in the Europa League last 16 second leg tie at Anfield on Thursday night....

Tomkins again http://tomkinstimes.com/2011/03/the-unw ... itability/

including ..

..Hodgson did not rate Daniel Agger, and was looking to sell him. Yet in the last six games without him, the Reds have won only once; in the last six games with him, the Reds have won all six, and not conceded a goal . When I met John Henry in October, one of the things I stressed was the value of the marginalised Agger. To me, Agger, despite injury concerns, is the personification of the Liverpool way..

Dalglish has now got more league points for Liverpool than:

a) Hodgson did in far more games
b) any other Premier League club (since Dalglish's reign started)

...and that is with is not playing all that well(IMO), losing our star striker, losing our skipper to suspension and then injury, several injuries in defence and having to ease in our injured star signing.

Looking like excellent "business", and getting better by the week.

Henry is becoming a but of a star, imho, and I liked his "something called the Liverpool Way" on Kenny's contract. The irony etc of "the something called" seems to sum up the humour of the place, and shows considerable understanding, or a good fit with the Club.

Sorry I was misinformed and that isn't true.
Dalglish has got 20 (from 10), Hodgson got 25 (from 20).
It is true for away games though (9 from 5 versus 6 from 10)

At last some concrete news on Gerrard's fitness. Yep, Dalglish definitely hasn't decided if he is fit for saturday yet....

The King's Speech

Can any Liverpool fan shed some light, insight or just gut feeling on whether Daglish is likely to play Carrol and Suarez together upfront? If so, does that begin this weekend? (if we presume that Suarez is fit?)

Thanks

Suarez IS fit (Kenny said so yesterday).

Yes I think they'll play together but not sure on formation. Possibly 442 but maybe more likely as 4231 with Suarez as 'left wing'.

Yep with Gerrard (Spearing) and Lucas behind.

Poulsen, Cole, Maxi and Ngog amongst bench options.

Other than the inclusion of 3 potential goalie subs, 1 of whom is on loan - as is Pacheco!

Is Aurelio fit?

I personally think Gerrard will play but wouldn't put my house on it.

It does highlight the lack of options both now across the back 4 and at full back at any time. Not a bad article other than not mentioning Kelly is actually a centre back.

Kyrgiakos is too often a liabilty and I prefer Carragher in the centre so there would be a temptation for me to play Flanagan rather than the back 4 that finished on saturday. I wouldn't move Wilson into the centre so no room for Robinson. I can't believe their poll suggests nearly half the respondents want to blood both youth team full backs - but then agian what do yanks know about sawker?

FABIO AURELIO is in contention to ease Liverpool’s defensive headache ahead of next Monday’s clash with Manchester City at Anfield.

I did notice that Robinson and Flanagan were AWOL from both the reserves and U18s line ups yesterday.

If Aurelio is fit I'd drop Kyrgiakos and play Wilson at CB (or can he play RB?) but I'm not sure Kenny will and would expect to see Wilson or Aurelio on the bench (with Flanagan getting the second defensive bench nod over Robinson largely because he is a RB).

He's completely ignored that Gerrard should be back by next week (another option for RB/RWB) although I'd anticipate him partnering Lucas in the Centre so Spearing could be an option at RB also.

I'd also leave Soto on the bench & start with the following

.......................Reina.........................
......Carragher..Skrtel..Wilson...............
Robinson..............................Flanagan
..............Gerrard.....Lucas.................
.....................Meireles.......................
.................................Suarez.............
.....................Carroll..........................

Kuyt as an option off the bench to switch to 442, probably for Flanagan with Wilson switching to LB

However I think KD will go with

Reina
Carra, Skrtel, Kyrgiakos, Wilson
Kuyt, Lucas, Gerrard, Meireles
Carroll, Suarez
