I've made too many transfers to really be considering this. But, obviously, I'm considering it anyway.

Baines  Walker
Nasri  Murphy
Downing  RVP

It's just such a tempting opportunity to clear out the last of the dross, and scratch that Nasri-won't-start itch (and the oh-god-why-did-I-drop-van-Persie itch) without really tinkering. (Admittedly bludgeoning here takes the place of tinkering, but still, technically, not a tinker ... right?)

Pros: a.) Love Sp*rs' fixture list from now til February, and Walker looks an attack-minded starter at 2.9. b.) Consider Murphy a season-long, so less upset about burning that transfer. c.) RVP is the second coming.

Cons: I can think of three...

There surely must be more than three potential injuries to RVP that you can think of

It's a bit early in the day to make me cry, murf.

No, that is certainly the unspoken fourth strike against this move. My only retort is the scheme would take me into a 3-4-3, from which a one-transfer replacement swap wouldn't be very painful... (Why isn't there a grasping at straws emoticon?)

Hey, without a little panic here and there all we'd do on here is whinge. Gotta love a little panic...

But, in all seriousness: I know it's a bit mad, but I didn't come up with the idea because I'm panicking and looking to rejig the whole squad. I genuinely want to dump Downing and Baines. So, assuming one was going to do so anyway, is this still totally unreasonable?

Or, put another way, can anyone offer a better solution -- other than holding through Downing's upcoming "purple patch", and hoping Everton start keeping clean sheets and stop missing penalties and put Baines back on set pieces? I realize that might be the way forward, but humour me...

Wouldn't vdV or Adebayor save you the Nasri transfer?

Yep, was just going to suggest that and see if it induced less giggles. I could hold Downing and Baines through Saturday, and then bring in Walker and Ade/vdV for Spurs' Sunday match.

I know that'll be a much more popular idea on here. It's about as FISO-tastic as you can get. (Includes a PPM defender, Adebayor, and a bonus fixture - trifecta!)

So maybe I'm just on the wrong side of North London to think this one through rationally (strong possibility, considering both $amir Na$ri and Ade are involved), but it's still tempting to get a striker you prefer, dump an expensive player you don't feel is going to be value over the course of the season, and bring in a low risk enabler for the cost of one transfer...

(Although, @blah, I remember you're a massive proponent of both Walker and Ade, so maybe we're both biased in this case...)

I did that sort of transfer (not for Baines, though) before the Arsenal game when Walker scored, and he has at least an assist since then.

Do you have more transfers than all of us CP...? ;)

Seriously though, not bad logic for all of it but I'd be tempted by the 2 as opposed to 3 subs. Can you really afford another at this stage?

I'm looking at Walker for Sun for one of our fav underperforming Fulham defs and also have Nasri but may hold on a bit longer.

That's between me and the attractive young lady who runs the TFF database

Which is to say, no.

You're all right, I suppose. The 2 is probably a smarter way to go about things. Spurs' form is great and so are their upcoming fixtures. I remain unconvinced by Ade, and concerned about vdV's injuries ... not sure who I'd choose between them honestly. But it's a safer move in every sense. Will just be hard to resist the temptation to get Rooney, Aguero, and RVP together in a front three without bringing in any players I don't want. Sigh. :(

But you've now also tempted me...it's catching...lol! :P

Walker is definitely coming in but could go either RVP or Ade.

Inversely I'm too worried about RVP snapping (this is his longest pre-Xmas run in years without injury isn't it?) and Ade will always pick up the points with their run coming up surely?

Diff for me is I can replace SWP with Ade or Nasri with RVP. Looks like it's Ade then... ;)

:(

After seeing that I'm desperately trying to resist the urge to not bring him in now.

RVP now has 28 goals in last 27 games. Resistance seems futile. Form great, fixtures welcoming. Question is how?

Oh what a difference a game makes. Up until hours ago I was ridiculed for even considering this... Insert quote about hindsight here. :?

You are probably best looking at the Egg Cup threads, where people post their teams\transfers, and the tables are updated weekly...

Let's be honest, I'm probably best locking myself in a closet and avoiding football altogether...

Though I'm sure Downing's going to score a hat trick and make holding out totally worthwhile.
