Hi guys,

I've finally sorted a team I'm happy with BUT I have one spot left for a midfielder in the 3.6-3.8 range.

This is under OFL rules so ONLY goals and assits count (no appearance or bonus points).

I already have Dunn, N'Zogbia and Petrov and don't rate Ethrington, so to my mind my three choices are:

Darren Fletcher - Will get goals and assists just by dint of playing every week for Manchester United and I currently one have one ManU player in Rooney. Easy early fixtures. But still basically a defensive midfielder.

Zoltan Gera - Should start the season up front for Fulham and had a brilliant pre-season. But could be dropped for Dempsey and the two new strikers Hughes is after (Bellamy and Dembélé).

Charlie Adam - Better goal-scoring rate than the other two, takes all Blackpool's free-kicks and penalties and basically got them promoted almost on his own. But will Blackpool even score? Plus hard early fixtures.

Personally I'd go for Etherington as I reckon he'll get the most points of all of those you mention.

Fletcher will be a dull point accumulator but I wouldn't waste a Man U berth on him. If you need to bring in a second Man U player, you first have to get rid of Fletcher so that's 2 transfers straight off. In this price range, you should be looking for someone who you can set-and-forget, like Etherington, unless they get injured.

Gera is a better choice if you're confident he'll keep his spot. Out of your three, I'd take a chance with Adam. He'll be involved with anything good that Blackpool do and you lose no points for the mountain of goals that his side will concede. Even if he starts slow, you can just leave him there until he comes good or you find you have a spare transfer to hand.

I'm just haunted by when I brought in Ethrington under Zola at West Ham and he did nothing for me.

Fletcher is out my thinking now - you make a great point.

I think I'll start with Gera and if/when he gets dropped then I'll know more about Adam, Ethrington or possible upgrade to the likes of Dorrans/Ireland/Nolan.
