Ah yes I see you cannot set up a private pro league. Only about 50-60 teams at the moment anyway so not too hard to track my position of bottom below you guys!

So - having never played this any tips :D - I'm guessing there are different tactics for the Pro and Free games and obviously it is key to use the waiver each week but interested on your experiences of playing all 10 vs a smaller higher quality number in the past?

Beyond remembering to use your waiver each week I'm not sure there are any tactics to the free game. You can gamble on a waiver at any stage and pick up additional top three bonus, but as discussed with Toffee on this thread last year the small bonus is probably not worth the big gamble.

The pro game however is very tactical, whom you start with, whom you bench, spend the full budget for each pair or leave some float for a more expensive waiver. There are usually some bargin $0.5 players, Tiger will be a must pick when he plays given his low earnings last year, picking $3.5m and $1.5m player in the final two pairs to allow two options of a $0.5 player waiver (in case the paired up player with your $0.5m player is doing well). Pairing up opposite styles has worked for me in the past, a big hitter Bubba / Woodland with down the middle Toms / Furyk etc. Again you can waiver early, probably would need to be a quality player with a big 36 hole lead to make the gamble worthwhile after two rounds.

Toffee you must have some tips to share, or keeping them secret :P

Thanks - interesting points.

I get the feeling I wont be challenging for the overall prize as i find my strategy (i hope) during the first few months. A few small prizes would be nice though. Look forward to the challenge!

Not much to add to your excellent comments MU Fan, you just need to make sure you have decent players in 3 of the 4 groups, then bring in the tourni leader into the 4th!

Ok Toffee and ManUnited – can you humour a Newbee and tell me what happens next! Screen of my team below. Can you confirm my understanding on the following:
• I can swap positions of my players within a group before start of each round and they will then be the player to count for that round. Whoever is in the playing position at start of round 4 will be the one getting the prize money?
• I can play the waiver on any one of the players at any time before the start of round 4 (probably at the end of round 3)?

Am I missing anything?

So given the scoring so far I am guessing the sensible thing to do would be hold on to the waiver and then swap positions on Laird, Fowler and De Jonge?

Hoping I have got to grips with it?! Not a great start though when I compare to your teams :?

Think you are pretty much spot on Big Jon. Not sure what time line up changes lock down, a few players still had to finish last night, but yes always look to have the highest placed players in the top row. Imagine most waivers will come in after the 3rd round as I can't see a run away leader (other than Simpson that virtually all will have anyway) after two rounds this week.

Hmm... Spencer Levin might be classed as a run away leader

Potential was there for me to screw up this week - had to pick between Phil and Dustin in the highest salary cap group.........luckily went for Phil!

Indeed – thanks, am on a good run the last few weeks for prizes! I actually had the same final team as the winner but got stung on the extra bonus points he picked up in rounds 1-3. If I had played Harrington instead of Woods in my group 4 I would have won it.

Overall is a marathon not a sprint Toffee – thankfully after my week 1 performance! I think I moved up from 40 something into 16th but I’ll try to poke my head onto the overall top 10 next week to join you and Man United...

Good luck for this week guys. Looks like it may be one of those weeks with quite a few different teams as the salary cap is quite hard. We'll see....!

Runners Up Prizes for a weekly in the pro game as follows:

"Congratulations! You finished 2nd place in our pro game last week for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am. This is quite an accomplishment considering you are playing against some of the best fantasy golfers in the world. We would like to offer you a choice of prizes. Please let us know if you would prefer a kerplookee hat, a kerplookee head cover or a HIRZL glove (XL only)"

Is there an official ranking system for fantasy golfers then :P Maybe Shaun already has an unofficial one running :P

Seriously, maybe we could set up a FISO ranking system for say : Yahoo, Today's, Race 2 Dubai, National Club, Scotsman and of course Official Fantasy League. Maybe not the US games (Kerplookee / Pro Tour) as they have a limited FISO entry.

Only negative would be those who didn't play them all feeling forced into playing for their ranking, hmm. Not sure how we would deal with multiple teams / mass entries as some players have been known to do

Just an idea, does it sound feasible to anyone else?

Multiple teams issue could be overcome by only counting the users highest ranked team in each competition.

You would have to work out some sort of uniform scoring system for each competition and then rank users based on the average score across all competitions

Cheers Jon, will do.

Last year it was:

      1st: Sundog sunglasses
2nd: Pair of Dawgs golf shoes
      3rd: Hirzl glove

Seems to be a bit up in the air this year if your 2nd place finish last week is anything to go by :?

I would guess Chuck is waiting on promises made to him by sponsors at the PGA Show, Orlando back in January.

Last year he was promised a load of putters that never arrived, tricky business.

Got lucky with Tiger, as he wasn't in contention all week, and Gillis hanging on in!

Two pairs of Sundogs and a pair of Callaways, wet UK Summer ahead :P

Shafty1 you certainly are doing well in the US fantasy games :D

Doing pretty well but only banked a $50 prize so far.
Still looking ok in PTFG1 although dropped to 2nd.
Also 2nd in Yahoo league and looking to step up to claim the 1st section cash prize, schoolboy error this week, had Furyk, missed cut, in for round 3
Just treat the Kerplokee as a bit of fun and even forget to use my waiver.

I nearly caught Reg for the FISO winter segment bragging rights but also fell short by a 100k or so.

All down hill from now as my Masters picks are normally Naff

Pity I didn't enter Man United's #2 Fan (currently on $23,783,177 and 2nd overall in the free league).

Presume it's too late to change :P

Very weak field this week will no doubt produce similar line ups.

Good luck with your picks.
