Kanu's officially back in the fold. He's priced at 6.5

Is he anywhere near fit and will he play up front this weekend? He got off to a flyer last year if memory serves and could be a real bargain at such a low price for at least the game at Derby.

I know the contract saga has dragged on forever hence my lack of knowledge regarding his fitness and availability.

For the names they've got as strikers, I think Kanu will settle for a place on the bench.

They have 2 new arrivals (Nugent - Utaka), we're waiting to see them
They have the miracle man Lua-Lua, great pick if he avoids injury
They have "one day up one day down" Benjani
As well as Kanu

But as has been mentioned before,,, stay away from Portsmouth for the time being. Until they pass their first 6 fixtures.

The picture will be clearer by then.

With the signings of Nugent and Utaka and the rumoured interest of Redknapp in taking Yakuba back to Fratton Park; im not sure Kanu will play as often as he did last year.

Im also not convinced there is much value in the forward department below £8.0m this year, unless of course Super Smudger (£7m) gets a regular game at SJ James

Thats the reason why ive gone for a balanced forward line (£8.5m -£9.5m), rather than a top striker with a couple of supporting strikers.

Having said all of thast gubbins, Lita at £6.5 perhaps?

(edit: That'll teach me to pi$$ around with my posts for 2-3 minutes LC!!)

Cheers reg,,, You still got some useful info in your post

I would still assume that the cheap striker market will flourish once injuries and suspensions start taking place. Lita is a potential bandwagon after the tough start that Reading will face,,, although this guy could kick start his wagon early if he repeat his goal scoring shows against both top clubs last season!! (Don't count on it though)

Kanu was great value last season in the early weeks, up to Christmas I think. But in the end, after being top scorer in the Prem, ended up on just 10 goals.

I've got the same quandary as I've been allocated Kanu in The Time's PlayTheGame (for all the non-believers, the more you get into it, the more interesting it seems. Complete departure from standard FF eg: FPL/TFF ect).

Not sure how to interpret this ...

It is thought Kanu will sign for an initial year, with the option of a further campaign should he play a required number of games.

Kanu was believed to have been unhappy with Portsmouth's stipulation that the number of games be set at 20, particularly as he will miss part of the season to play in the African Cup of Nations.

Pompey boss Harry Redknapp has always been keen on keeping hold of last season's top goalscorer and it does now look as though his wish has been granted

That Kanu doesn't believe he'll play the required number and will be cast aside next season

Or that HR has plans for 20+ and Kanu's more concerned about the prospect of staying fit

Thing is, he still played a lot of games last season, but only banged in 10 overall, most before Chrimbo. 20, 30, 40 games - he is not consistant enough in my eyes.

I wish I hadn't just read your post krisp as I ended up visiting the PlayTheGame site and wasted vital minutes/hours of my life trying to understand about 743 pages of rules. This has been invented by some American soccer game genius right?

I think I got hypnotized to register a team and then realised I had to rank 400 or more players according to a combination of weird stats such as 'interceptions' and 'accurate passes'. Swoon. I think I have been brainwashed! Please forgive me FPL for thinking there might be something else out there!

You have to go and look at this game though. It's amazing!
