I've just launched the new version of my player stats website:

http://www.julianandsarah.com/dreamteam/index.asp

Unfortunately I can't think of a decent name for it, so I am throwing it open to the forum to come up with some ideas. I'd like it to be along the same lines as FISO, i.e. an acronym of a phrase that describes the website which kind of makes a word in itself. "Go on the Fiso website" rolls off the tongue a lot easier than "Go on the Fantasy Interactive Sports Online website". You get the idea anyway...

I've got a lot planned to develop on the site so bear with me while I work on the new features. I go on holiday for a week on the 19th so I've lined up a couple of test admins to keep the stats up to date while I'm away (though I have to get the admin pages working properly first :P), so don't expect any new features until I come back. I'm always open to suggestions for features to include so if you have any then feel free to post them here or send me a PM.

If there's any data errors you've spotted or there are code errors that come up, post the details on here and I'll try and correct them as soon as possible.

If you were using the player breakdown page with numerous player codes to do a 'team breakdown', the page works pretty much the same but has a new URL, e.g. my La Log team is this:
http://www.julianandsarah.com/dreamteam/points_breakdown.asp?code=74,109,168,194,228,564,622,782,788,896,927
I have a plan to include transfers in this team breakdown page, but that'll take a while to do so watch this space.

Anyway, suggest some website names, have a play with the site, check it for errors and suggest some ideas for new features.

Jules

As much as I want to take all of the credit for it, I have had help from others on the forum, particularly THFC who has helped me get my head around complex database queries. I may be the developer but I want the site to be driven by the FISO community, hence why I am trying to get the admin pages working with a login for selected users to amend the data, post news and other things.

Also, in future I would be happy for other developers to contribute pages to the site using the same database, therefore I want the name to be fairly generic. It may not happen and the site may end up being all my doing, but I'd rather take the approach from the outset that I am the catalyst for the site and it is a group contribution.

While I think of it, I know there are data copyright issues over displaying Premier League fixtures, but I assume that doesn't include match results?

Showing results is fine, it's showing fixtures ahead where there can be issues. It's probably worth you having a chat with admin regarding tying your site more closely to FISO, maybe sticking the FISO banner and link somewhere prominent. Drop him a pm and see where it goes from there.

Quality work yet again Jules. You're a star.
Why don't you apply for a job at the Sun Dream Team?
I'm sure they'll be laying a few staff off for soon for incompetence.

Just a couple of corrections Jules :

Hahnemann should be on 4 points still, not 2 points. He did not come off the bench against Blackburn.
Heltinga should be on -1 points, not 0 points. He did come off the bench against Fulham and conceded 2 goals.

The Sun are still wrong with Heltinga, Ben Haim, Song and Edwards.

Excellent site - particularly like showing the player points scores on a Sat - Fri week...with this, any chance of showing the dates for each week ie Week 4 Sat Sep 12 - Fri Sep 18, or something similar?

Yeah, I'll be putting the dates for each week on there, it's just taking time to do it all. There's a mountain of stuff left that I want to do, but I'm in the middle of selling my house and preparing to go on holiday, so I'm spending half an hour out of my working day at most on it at the moment. Rest assured it is on my list of jobs to do though.

Thursday's Europa League games points have been added.

I'll be away on holiday for the next week so hopefully my team of admins will keep the points updated for me.

Cheers Jules, have a good holiday.

I've verified your figures and their spot on with mine. See the difference below with our figures and theirs.

The Sun are just too funny - Arteta now has 2 points :D

Jules (And Zicom) you are a legend the most definitive and accuarate data I have seen to date, along with Andi Jones (Spreadsheet Selector) there pair of you have made the competition playable.

The Sun SHOULD hang there heads in Shame, not least for ammending the weekly scoring formula (Fri- Thurs)
there sales of news print for saturday copies i assume have shown a dramatic downward trend? I admin a few local competitions and the majority of entrants are all baffled about the NEW weekly score process not least by the midweek Sun edition which shows this week, last week and current week scores? in an almost unreadable collated format.

I've just uploaded a new feature onto the site (which I have now named DreamData) that gives a detailed breakdown of each players stats. I can't include as much as was on Zarch's spreadsheet, but the stuff I have left out isn't major. Eventually I will do individual player details pages with as many stats and details as I can calculate (such as hat-tricks, penalty saves and stuff), but that will have to wait until I have done some of the other pages first.

http://www.julianandsarah.com/dreamteam/

I'm thinking it would be useful to see the upcoming fixtures and previous results broken down per DreamTeam week (Mon-Sun), as this would help those looking to do a team to score the most in a week. With the copyright laws over EPL fixture information, I may only be able to show the previous weeks match results (not so useful for those wishing to plan ahead :P), so I'm looking for a fixtures website where I can filter the list shown by several competitions (i.e. only show fixtures involving EPL clubs, including european and domestic cup games). Does anyone know of a website that shows that?

If anyone fancies designing a logo for the DreamData website, post your designs here or send me a PM.

Jules,

This site is now absolutely top notch. You deserve all the plaudits you get for this.

You know you've got filters for " GK | DEF | MID | STR ", in the detailed screen, could you show all positions on the opening page of "detailed" in the same way the "simple" page does?

Other than that, get the sorting sorted on the % results and we'll be in stats heaven.

Great Stuff.

It's a very data intensive page even when it's split down to each position, so I've not included that option.

A suggestion for the name: "Blaise of Glory"... after Blaise Pascal who helped invent probability theory by studying games of chance?

Or "Disraeli Useful Website"? After Benjamin Disraeli, he of the "lies, damned lies & statistics" quote?

Pretty weak, I know!

Just updated the site with the Villa vs Man City ratings, so that should be everything tied up points wise for a couple of weeks.

Are there still any points discrepancies?

Have they sorted out T Smith and Parker (I think it was)?

Not sure. If an Excel guru (andi_jones perhaps) could knock up an Excel sheet that draws in the player data from both websites and then highlights any that are different, it would be easy for us to diagnose where the discrepancies are.

Good thinking batman!

I normally do it manually (via Excel).... but cannot access the Sun site from work :(

Automating it would be a great idea.

I think Zicom had something going on for the three sources (his, yours and official).... but he seems to have disappeared of late. Not sure if he was doing it manually or had an automated sheet.
