I have finished putting together the Archive for the 2009-10 Premier League season as well as the World Cup game. When you enter each archive, you will see the Latest News button turn into a green 'Exit Archive' button, along with a warning message so that you know you're not looking at the current season's stats.

There will be a few new features introduced over the course of the season. One of these will be to analyse player appearances per club, using a chart similar to what was in the Sun's World Cup Guide. In a similar vein, I'll be producing two colourful charts, one showing each team's defensive performance and one for their attacking performance. Other new features will include a singular match stats report and singular player report containing lots of statistics on one page.

Would have been nice to have had just one offer to help  Instead I spent two hours formatting fixtures rather than developing some useful new features...

Check out the new reports for the 09/10 season under the Club Stats menu :D :

Another new report to get your teeth into... In the Zarch stats style but including Extra points (which are Pen Save points and Hat-Trick Bonus points):
http://www.julianandsarah.com/dreamteam/0910/points_expanded.asp

It's useful for seeing how many points defenders lost the most points from conceding goals last season (unsurprisingly Wigan defenders):
http://www.julianandsarah.com/dreamteam/0910/points_expanded.asp?status=DEF&sortBy=GOALS_AGAINST_POINTS&sortDir=DESC&shortlist=

...and for showing which strikers scored their points through ratings rather than goals (such as Davies, Bellamy, Kuyt and Doyle):
http://www.julianandsarah.com/dreamteam/0910/points_expanded.asp?status=STR&sortBy=RATINGS_POINTS&sortDir=DESC&shortlist=

I was wondering.. which keepers made the most saves last season? Does this indicate whether the defence was as good as everyone thoought or was the keeper doing all the hard work? Ie were B'ham great cos of hart or was he actually being shielded much better than other teams? is this a sensible query? or will it just generate meaningless stats? I hope the former..

I've added a price filter to all the reports so that you can look at just the players you want within a price range, such as defenders between £3.0m and £4.0m:
http://www.julianandsarah.com/dreamteam/points.asp?status=DEF&min=3.0&max=4.0&sortBy=VALUE&sortDir=DESC

I've also cleaned up the print version so that you don't get so much junk at the top and bottom of the page.

I've put together a report showing this years players and prices with last season's stats:
http://www.julianandsarah.com/dreamteam/points_detail_preseason.asp

It's filterable by price and you can sort on any column. Any players that have switched positions from last season have an Info icon next to their name, which if you hover over you'll see what position they were.

Damn useful it is! :D

A few problems? Jules has Roger Johnson on 12 but the Sun have 19. Hahenemann another example, Jules 0, the Sun 1.

I've been on holiday for the past week and a bit so my able assistants (Zimm, JPK) have been keeping the site up to date with the stats. It's a tricky enough job when you're used to doing it and know how it all works, so there may be the odd error to correct. When I've finished catching up with my 1000-odd work emails, I'll have a go at getting it all 100% correct!

Would anyone like to help out with the administration of my stats website? I don't plan to continue running it next season, but if I get enough helpers, or even someone willing to develop it on further, then I'd be happy to hand over the reigns. It would be sad to see it die, as it has been very useful to plenty of people over the last two seasons.

Thats a shame that you wont be doing it next season Jules, I was just about to post a message saying how much I like your stats website. Stats = Facts :D

I am only new to actually joining FISO but joined up to your site at the end of last season and thought it was excellent! Understand though it must take up alot of time. Would offer to help but presume you would want someone who has been on here a long time, also not really technical enough in website development and getting the free time would probably be an issue aswell

Posted on my site:

--------------------------
You might think my site makes me money from the donations and the advert banner at the top. It doesn't! The site costs me £60 a year to pay for the server cost. Since launching the site 2 years ago, so far I have earned £44.96 from the advert banner and have received a total of £56.13 in donations from the following people on FISO:

Zimmerman
Zarch
ISSACA
ErazedCitizen
bloggie
G. Bianchi (not sure of FISO name)

That makes a total of £101.09, which is just short of what I need to cover my costs.

Ok, so I'm not far off breaking even financially, but the real cost has been my time. I've had to develop this website and get all the data ready for the start of each season. That's some task in itself... After that, I've had to enter all of the results, which on average entails ticking 30 different boxes and entering figures in 30 different text boxes, PER MATCH! There were 541 matches last season, so you don't have to be a genius to work out that it takes a lot of time to enter all of that information. I have had some help entering the stats, notably from JPK100 and Zimmerman, for which I am very grateful, but it's time I had a rest and let someone else take on the admin task.

So, what I plan to do is to allow each registered member access to the admin screens. Basically, if you want the data updated, you can do it yourself! The website will generate all of the stats as normal, but the data entry burden will be shared amongst those of you who find the site useful. If nobody updates it, the site dies out. Simples.

I will write plenty of instructions to help those willing to help out, as well as provide a tool to compare the points with those on the DT site to check for any discrepancies that need fixing either on this site or by The Sun themselves. If people want to deliberately enter the wrong information to mess up the site, then I pity them, but remember I will know who did it, I will have your email address and IP Address, and I will make everyone aware that you're an idiot!
-------------------------

I hope the site can continue to provide people with the stats that they find useful, as the player stats on the DreamTeam website are often unreliable and you can't view them in tables. You certainly can't view the points per month, per week or per transfer window, or run a query on them like you can on my site. If the Sun could provide similar stats, then I'd happily let the site die, but they don't, so we all suffer one way or another :(

is it possible to have some sort of rota for inputting the data so that each weeks matches (or done by premiership team(s) ) can be updated by one person? I am happy to be on such a rota.

Hi... that's me! :)
even though I hardly use the site I contributed with a very, very small donation as a simbolic gesture thinking that if everyone donated 5 or 10 quids it would at list pay for some of the amount of time gone into it...

for 5£ I even got a kind reply from Jules...

...as it happens the list of donators is so ridiculously small (compared to the number of users and of the people feeling sorry for its disappearence) that the outcome is what it is.

I hope now someone can at list donate some of its time if not the price of a pint of lager.

I will keep contributing the only way I can, I am sure those of you that have forgotten to do the same can divert a fraction of the money they give Murdock to play its game to help Jules pay for an instrument that contributes his friends (and competitors alike) to make the game more fun

My thoughts exactly gianluca. When you think of all the work Jules has put in and compare this with us having to click the donate button, enter a passworrd and then 5.00 there's no comparison.

I too wouldn't have the time to update the figures (I spend over 100 hours a season maintaining my own stats and tweaking my forecasting software) but will continue donating as long as the "donate" button stays there.

Thanks guys, I appreciate every donation and hope that the stats have helped to earn you some money over the years.

I'm really struggling to find time to do anything to the site at the moment. I'm moving to Australia in less than 4 weeks and I have a million things to do, so unfortunately it's dropped right down on my priority list.

I do intend to keep it going though, albeit with some help from volunteer stats enterers. I just need to simplify some things on the admin side and get the database updated with this season's player list and all the fixtures. Anyone fancy helping me out with the fixtures database? I'll provide a spreadsheet with all the columns I need to be filled in, then you just copy, paste, do a bit of reformatting and some more copying and pasting and a couple of hours later it's all done...

Did you get any willing volunteers for this?

Nope! Mind you, I've not had time to set the site up for the new season anyway, so it may have to wait until early Sept when I'll have some time in the evenings to work on it.
