This was my starting XI at World Cup which finished 20,000th:

Casillas

van der Weil Pique Chiellini Johnson

Lennon Xavi Sneijder

Villa Fabiano van Persie

That team is not bad at all but yet I finished way down in 20,000th. Only Chiellini + Lennon were total disasters with only Johnson + van Persie underperforming to an extent. The rest all scored a lot more than most.

I'll have 3 teams with 25 transfers from January. Meanwhile, I'll give tips for managers on enablers they can have. Moussa Dembele is the man so far. Not bragging here, but I recommended van der Weil, Honda, Donovan, Ozil in World Cup teams. They performed very well and were cheap and were relatively unknown prior to World Cup. Just PM if you want tips.

I can't believe I've put my best 2 teams into this league, when the chairman clearly doesn't give a sh*t. :x I feel like I've been conned. :( I thought we'd have 5k to split.

Rust, all I'm saying is that I am focusing from January. It still doesn't stop others from winning. I am focusing 3 of my 4 teams from January. I've had Valencia, Cole, Dembele, Torres, Ben Arfa all getting injuries and I have to stop making as many transfers causing me to prioritise from January.

I reckon this has now gone full circle and back to page 1 of the thread (although some of the pages in between have been... well lets say 'interesting'!). So, if some of the others in this league who spent good money buying teams, have a spurt and do well in this superleague (still a possibility) young Mr Giblin will be taking some of your hard earned cash, whilst he concentrates on his 'other priorities' due to his 'bad luck'! And its only the beginning of October...
...just trying to think of a few other 'quitters' as soon as everythng doesn't go their way and they let their team mates down - so who do we regard as PL quitters either now or in the past to join the illustrious Mr G!?
As a NF supporter Mr Van Hoydonk (and I know it aint spelt right but he doesn't even deserve my time to check!) springs to mind!!

If I wasn't committed to this, I would never have entered all my teams in this league. I believe my teams are decent enough to score decent points, but all I am doing is not making a transfer until January which will enable me to score lots of points from January to the end of the season.

I don't see what the big deal is. I was never gonna win the league, it's impossible to win. I'm just changing my tactics. I will get less points in short-term but more points in long-term (January to end of season). Anyways Razor, I seriously doubt you and anyone else are focusing on the super leagues, you want the top prize, just like the rest of us. What's the problem then? :?

In all seriousness I don't think this league ever stood much of a chance & as for anyone who joined it thinking they'd have a genuine chance of collecting some prize money well...more fool them  .

Most of the (well deserved) grief you've been given on this thread has been tongue in cheek so don't take it to heart & hey...you've still got 7 months to prove the doubters wrong  ...

Oi Razorback, make up yer bleedin' mind. Some of us are still hopeful that the Giblin will deliver. With his anticipated transfer splurge from January to May he'll make Lester Piggott's finishing look lack lustre.

Its a good job this league won't win anything as he doesn't seem to be keeping up the contact you'd hope for from someone who you need to pay out the readies in the summer....

Wonder if Giblin will do a SL next season...

...and whether anyone would join it?!!!

The thread was fun for a while though! Do we think he's still in his shed hiding

I thought I would look at the current state of Giblin's league but interestingly it doesn't seem to exist any more according to the Telegraph.

Used http://fantasyfootball.telegraph.co.uk/league/view/ followed by the League Pin 8007654.

The URL works for my own Superleague Pin. Can anyone who entered a team throw any light on this shocking development?

shame really as Liverpools recent turn of fortunes would have seen his teams in particular shoot up the table

It could be that he's already won a national prize (motm or motw) and therefore ineligible for the chairman's award?

I was using the wrong Pin. Strangely the one quoted at the start of this thread is nothing like the real one.

Anyway, here's the current state of play:
