Morning!

First off, how come the US tournament starts a day later? Secondly, a bit of help regarding my Matchplay opponent would be nice. My team is listed below first, and my oppo's team is listed second... same players we have are in red.

I have transfers available, he has none left. Would it be wise to bring in another one or two of his players and hope that the likes of Woods, Choi and Rose see me through, and maybe swap Cink for J Kelly or Johnson.

Cheers!

ME:
T Woods
S Cink
KJ Choi
J Rose
R Sabbatini
S O'Hair

PLAYING SUBSTITUTES
R Allenby
M Lafeber
J Sandelin
A Forsyth

OPPONENT:
J Furyk
R Sabbatini
Z Johnson
S O'Hair
J Kelly
V Taylor

PLAYING SUBSTITUTES (current)
V Singh
B Dredge

For what it's worth I would defo leave as is.

Your team looks much stronger on paper, so save those 5 trans for later rounds, when you may need them to get 6 players playing.

Oh, and Monday is Labor day in the US by the way :)

Cheers toffeelover. Appreciate both answers. Considering taking out O'Hair for Jerry Kelly, though. Still leaves me with two the same, but I fancy Kelly over O'Hair... but that does use a valuable transfer... will see what to do, I have another day to think about it anyway!

I don't think I'd bother either. Kelly has got the edge over O'Hair (I picked the wrong one when I had 1.0m spare for an American a couple of months ago) but I don't think it's worth a transfer at this stage.

Woods should do the business for you alone....

I think you are right. I need to judge how both teams set up this week and save transfers - and I surely have the edge with Woods alone, as you say Mr Green. I must admit to being chuffed to see my opponent this week having no transfers left - and being Tigerless!

FS Record: A few grand over the years,
Tiger has started off like a beginner - 3 over after 4 holes  Vijay not much better, either.

And KJ Choi withdrawn

By the way, is there a cut at 70 in this tournament? (Only 120 in it so I imagine not, so all get a full chance to claw their way back up the ladder?)

Edit: I can now answer my own question - there is a normal cut this week and none next.

Well.... it looks as though not only have I done woefully badly on fantasy football this weekend, but my "stronger on paper" team is on its way out of the Matchplay too!

Cink (MC), Rose (MC) and Choi (WD) are all out, and with my opponent also having Sabbatini and O'Hair, Woods is my only hope. I think all of my oppo's team made the cut.

Oh blow!

Well, I scraped through in the Matchplay 57 v 39 courtesy of Woods. However, I think my luck just ran out! My next opponent was 6th overall this week  and has 22 transfers left - although I am ahead of him in the overall standings. Will be keeping a beady eye on his transfers!

Shouldn't be too complicated a week with all 70 making the cut in the states. You have Woods so beyond that it should be a fair battle.
Good luck!

Somehow, by the skin of my teeth, I managed to scrape my leading team through to the last 64. Destiny calls.......

Phil Mickleson hinted in the interview straight afterwards that it was 50-50 whether he played due to some disagreement he has had all year with the organisers.

Sure the lure of the wonga may just sway it for him though

He didn't mention wonga,padmole!
He owes it to The Tour and the fans to go head to head again with Tiger.
He owes it to his family and kids to get them back into school this week.
And he's mightily pissed off with Commissioner Fincham for not scheduling The Fedex around his personal requirements!

I am in the amateur Matchplay el_pappje... I assume you are in the Pro version?

Be nice if Mickelson withdrew at the last minute!

I am in the Pro matchplay, correct - but I wouldn't assume anything!! This is my best team that has survived - you will see from the F&E league that I have a couple of teams fighting hard to stay off the bottom!

OK... just wondering if we would be meeting in the final! Good luck with the Pro version! It has been a disappointing season for me, and it has only been getting this far in the Matchplay that has prevented it from being a complete disappointment!
