Only 60 odd hours till they kick off vs Rovers on Saturday. RVP is fragile as we know and has played a ton of games this season. Looked tired tonight after Sundays exploits vs Villa.

Hopefully Wenger indicate either way in his press conference and with Park looking firmly out of the picture, it looks like he may have no choice but to play him.

From a captaining perspective I still fear him being subbed off if they race into a 3 goal+ lead.

Aguero (C) is not a bad alternative at all imo.

If Wenger decides to rest Van Persie after having not won 4 consecutive league games the fans will surely want him sacked.

I wouldnt mind if he was subbed after Arsenal were 3+ in front as he would have surely been involved in some of those goals. I dont think he will be rested - they arent good enough to rest him

Never mind wanting him sacked, they'll want him hung, drawn & quartered. He would not be a safe man.

Every time this season RvP has played 2 games in quick succession he's scored in the second game.

Stick that in your pipe!

No chance, mind you he did bring Arshavin on. Give Walcott a rest, never RVP.

Exactly as above.

They can't afford to rest him at the moment.

As easy as the fixture looks on paper this is a must win game

Judging by thier recent form, I agree with JN77 that it is a must win game. BTW, know its in the wrong place but look at MON Sunderland since he took over. WOW

CTC has RVP on 102% with Today's NTI at 2222.

According to FPL, Transfers In (round) is 10869, Transfers Out (round) is 1937 giving an NTI (round) of 8930.

Not that this implies anything. Just a lot of people are assuming that he will play. They could be all wrong.

No chance he'll be rested, if Wenger does rest his only reliable goal threat then the Arsenal boo boys will go into overdrive.

Really can't see him being rested due to Arsenal needing to win and he is their main man. But you never know with Wenger...he likes shooting himself in the foot a lot these days.

A few points:
--Arsenal want revenge for losing to Blackburn earlier in the season
--The team is on an upward trend in the league (3 losses then a draw is an upward trend!)
--Every game is now important
--RvP will be peeved at not scoring
--The Ox will get a game and is a very consistent threat
--I want to believe

Hence I think not only will RvP play, but Arsenal will demolish Blackburn.

Here's hoping :( (as an Arsenal fan I think I've been limited to depression pretty much since beginning of 2011)

Think a real demolishing could be on the cards even if arsenal dont play that well. Samba has been ruled out according to the bbc so there defence is gonna be a disater. Saying that though they have quite a few away draws from parking the bus.

Blackburn dont forget BEAT Arsenal earlier in the season they certainly wont be any pushover infact they are probably favourites.

also the story gathers momentum.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sp ... ersie.html

An Arsenals fan take on the present situation.

Davmac clearly the last 11 months has had no effect on you 13 wins in 34 premiership games no wins in the 4 games this year
49.5 million profit from buying/selling players since the emirates move not reinvested
mismanagement players like denilson bentner arshavin chamakh, squilacci all on silly wages and no buyers . quality players sold and not replaced . ticket prices rising while the shareholders line there pockets . 8 goal hammerings throwing 4 goal leads . the worst away goals conceded record in the premiership . you cant be blind enough not to see this

Anybody fancy the 12/1 favourites in a 2 horse race?

I expect Dot's house to be placed.

12/1 is not really available even Betfair are only 10/1 after deductions.( unless you open an account with Betvictor)

William Hills ( who i have an account with are a measly 7/1 the general best prices if you look on oddschecker are a mixture of 10/1 and 9/1.

Bear in mind the fixed coupon price will not reflect the internet price with any of the major bookies it will be even lower.

Even 7/1 on the favourites in a 2 horse race is a damn good bet

Betfair currently has a few quid available at 13 (somebody got 16.5!) which must be around 11.5/1 after their rake.

Still playing the will they/won't they rest RVP guessing game eh?

We can't know, and as there's no point in guessing, the answer is to play him and captain him as you normally would. Just make sure you choose a VC you would happily have as Captain if your first choice was unavailable.

It's that simple. Play the probabilities, speculation is noise.

Exactly. Whats the point in worrying about it. Anyone can be rested in any game week. Just pick the best players. Simples

To be fair he's probably just exhausted. There were a few magic moments when he was fresh every time he played (I can remember several penetrative Fabregas impressions). I'll admit now all he seems to do is run about and shoot wide

Rather worried now, reading too much into it....

I think RVP will play at least 30 minutes this week or not at all.

Likely scenarios:
- Arsenal will either put the game out of sight by the second half with no reason for RVP to come on from the bench = 0 mins played. VC will get you the points.
- Arsenal will put the game out of sight by the second half with RVP starting so he comes off by 60 mins or so. = 60 mins + played.
- The game is close or even Blackburn leading = RVP playing 60-90 mins (if he starts) or 30 mins ish from the bench = 30 mins + played.

Unlikely scenario:
- RVP comes on for 5 mins for a point.

So, my long analysis basically sums up to my opinion that he's quite likely to get at least 30 mins in the game against a defence he could get double digit points in that amount of time. There is a bit of risk to it but not so much when you think about it.

Final point, the one time RVP played less than 30 minutes in the PL this season, he scored 2 goals and 11 pts.

I'm just wondering aloud if Wenger ever names the team well in advance? Does the early kick-off give us a chance of knowing for sure before the deadline? Could be interesting advantage over less nimble FPL players if they did, if not as previously stated RVP will still be my captain anyway.
