Poulter's just withdrawn:

Ianjamespoulter

It's a shame to withdraw from New Orleans, injured my knee last week and needs a bit more time, TPC will be my next event.

Spotted Stricker had dropped off a couple of the betting sites, not in PGA Tour Field so assume he's WD as well as Poulter!

Thanks for that, hadn't seen it, what a crazy build up, losing the two outstanding favourites.

And if I'd prioritised by deadline, not reverse importance, I wouldn't have captained him and transferred him in to my Scotsman etc teams :x

Steve Stricker withdrew on Wednesday afternoon from the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. It's been a rough day for the Zurich Classic, as it's only two world Top 10 players in the field had to withdraw from the tournament due to injury. Sticker cited soreness in his right shoulder as the reason for his withdrawal. His spot in the field was filled by Tour veteran Billy Mayfair.

Think KJ Choi is still playing :)

17 Pro Tour Teams most of which featured either Poulter or Stricker to sort out  Managed to get my OFL teams updated before the 11.00pm deadline though :D

Yes, KJ Choi is still listed as it stands...let's hope it stays that way!

At least people have got until 02:00 BST to make their changes in the NCG game (i.e. after the likes of Kim and Els have already played nine holes or so!) - for those willing and able to stay up that long (not me!)

Hi Mr Green,

I see you have updated the web site re Stricker / Poulter already, very impressive :P

I guess these late WD's will have caught quite a lot of fantasy managers out, no doubt this will be the main topic of conversation on the FISO Golf Forum tomorrow!

Notice not all the bookies have kept pace, Zurich odds seem unchanged with some even though the two favourites have WD. Kdub will be cashing in big time :P

Keep up the good work.

Apparently Poulter and Harrington are signed up for Wentworth. Also Poulter "hoping to recover from a knee injury ... in time for Players".

Masters champion Phil Mickelson has withdrawn from his pro-am group at the Quail Hollow Championship on Wednesday, citing illness.

Mickelson was sick at his hotel Tuesday night and called for assistance after the fifth hole at Quail Hollow Club. He was treated for dehydration at the on-course medical center.

Mickelson still expects to make his first-round, 12:50 p.m. tee time Thursday, according to a statement released on the player's behalf.

I plan on doing a full update on here tomorrow, too bust arguing about politics to do it now

Goosen WD'd with a broken toe.
Chris Couch withdrew, apparently quite common when he is down to play a long stretch (and is on a medical extension)
Tim Wilkinson, that glorious enabler, withdrew last week after buggering up the same thumb he had surgery on last year. But is still down to play this week.
Kim's thumb problem is well-known, less well-known is when he will get it fixed. Today alone I've seen chat suggesting it gets done at the end of the season and also that it gets done in time to heal for the Ryder Cup. :?

Updates:

Wilkinson MCd this week but got round 36 holes, apparently ok.

Goosen is OUT of the Players, per Rotoworld.com (as are all the other quotes, too):
Quote:
Retief Goosen is not listed in the published field of next week's PLAYERS.
On his web site on Tuesday, Goosen wrote that he broke his toe while playing with his kids. As a result, a start in THE PLAYERS was a longshot at best. If the toe allows, his next event will be the BMW PGA Championship on the European Tour on May 20-23.
Source: PGATOUR.com

Stricker is IN - but......:
Quote:
Steve Stricker is listed in the published field of next week's PLAYERS.
Despite this commitment, expect him to be a gametime decision as he recovers from the clavicle injury. He will not risk further damage.
Source: PGATOUR.com

Michael Sim continues to be injured (sadly, exactly what happened last time he made the main Tour):
Quote:
Michael Sim is not listed in the published field of next week's PLAYERS.
And the wait continues. Due to a damaged tendon in his right shoulder, Sim hasn't teed it up since Doral in mid-March. He earned his exemption into THE PLAYERS by virtue of finishing first on the 2009 Nationwide Tour money list, but that berth does not trickle down with the withdrawal. Chad Collins, who finished second in earnings to Sim, starts the week as the second alternate.

Steve Stricker withdraws from the Players:

Quote:
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Steve Stricker has withdrawn from The Players Championship to rest his sore right shoulder.

Stricker, the No. 3 player in the world ranking, first withdrew from New Orleans two weeks ago when he began experiencing pain. Tests revealed inflammation in the joint where the clavicle meets the sternum.

Stricker says the injury doesn't appear to be serious, although he doesn't want to risk it getting worse by playing before it properly heals. He hopes to be back out on the PGA Tour by the end of the month.

His next start likely will be Colonial, where he is the defending champion.

Stricker was replaced in the field by Spencer Levin.

Confirmation of Kim's surgery - and expect him to miss both Opens:

http://sports.espn.go.com/golf/rydercup ... id=5171214

Quote:
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- Anthony Kim played hurt for two months in hopes of piling up as many Ryder Cup points as possible before the pain in his left thumb kept him from competing.

Now he figures he'll have one month to make an impression on Ryder Cup captain Corey Pavin.

Two days after surgery to repair ligament damage in his left thumb, Kim said he would miss the next two majors -- the U.S. Open and the British Open -- and plans to return at the Canadian Open if his rehabilitation goes well.

Within two hours after surgery, he was on the phone with Pavin.

"I'm not an agent, I'm not selling anything," Kim said Friday from his home in Dallas. "I told him, 'Listen to this and I'm done, I won't bother you again. I want to play on your team so bad that the reason I played hurt is to make the team. I promise you if you put me on the team, I'm going to have a good attitude going over there. I'm the kind of player you want.' "

Despite the thumb injury, the 24-year-old Kim won the Houston Open, finished third at the Masters and was in contention Sunday at Quail Hollow before tying for seventh. By then, he said the pain felt like a knife piercing the area between his left thumb and index finger. He said it cost him 20 yards off the tee.

Kim is expected to be out 10 to 12 weeks, which would put his return right around the British Open at St. Andrews. Kim said he does not believe he will be ready to contend.

"The tournament I come back for, I'm going to be prepared and feel like I have a great shot to win the tournament," he said. "There is a little learning curve. What Tiger [Woods] did at the Masters was incredible. But I won't go to a tournament and have an excuse that I haven't had time."

Kim is No. 2 in the Ryder Cup standings, but they are fluid during the year of the matches. Points are based strictly on PGA Tour earnings, and they count double at the majors. The qualifying ends at the PGA Championship, and Pavin will have four captain's picks three tournaments later.

Kim starred for the Americans two years ago at Valhalla, going 2-1-1 and providing plenty of energy with his personality, all the way through to the celebration after a rare U.S. victory.

"The Ryder Cup was a great thing to experience," he said. "I'm not trying to self-promote, but every team I've been on -- Walker Cup, Ryder Cup, Presidents Cup -- we've won."

His physical therapy hasn't started. Kim's first goal is to get some rest. He said he has trouble sleeping on his right side, but with the surgery to his left thumb, "I got like four hours last night."

"I'm just trying to stay upright," he said.

Tiger WDs from Players.

Doesn't sound good

Quote:
He says he'll get an MRI next month. Says it's been hurting since before Masters. Based on mood a few minutes ago, think he's concerned.

Quote:
TW says has tingling in his fingers of right hand. Will go to doctor this wk to get neck checked. Says may have bulging disk

When I saw the injury update, I thought who's WD from the Players? My guess was right :(

Time for Phil to take over the World No. 1 spot with a 66 today?

Jeff Klauk out for several months:

Quote:
It was announced today that Jeff Klauk will miss the next four months on the PGA Tour due to a herniated disc in his back.
The announcement came via a press release. "I'll take this time off to consult with doctors, do what needs to be done and look forward to getting back to playing the kind of golf I know I'm capable of playing," said Klauk, who is currently 152nd in earnings, with $173,676. Given the timing of the FedExCup Playoffs, the second-year player may not return to the PGA TOUR until the Fall Series, which begins September 30 with the Viking Classic. We may see him next rehabbing on the Nationwide Tour instead.
Source: PGA Tour

Fortunately he has 0.00% ownership

Also, Retief Goosen not listed for Wentworth:
Quote:
Retief Goosen is not listed in the published field of next week's BMW PGA Championship on the European Tour.
Since breaking a toe a few weeks ago, Goosen withdrew from THE PLAYERS Championship, but had hoped on giving it a go at Wentworth. He's already committed to the St. Jude Classic on June 10-13, but might make a start overseas first. We'll keep you posted as usual.
Source: EuropeanTour.com

Both via rotoworld.com

Edit - Goosen IS listed on the OFL site - I'm off to ask Mr. Green to check.

From Wednesday's Racing Post: Pod to have minor knee surgery after BMW PGA

Padraig Harrington is going to have a minor knee operation after this week's BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

He told the media: "If I wait until the end of the year, the doctor feels it could cause some arthritic problems. If I can have it cleared up now it reduces the chance.

Harrington hopes to be back in action for the St Jude Classic in the second week of June and expects to be tee-ing it up in the US Open the following week.

Ian Poulter, another returnee to Surrey because of the course changes, has though been eased to 25-1 by several firms because of confirmation that he is having physio treatment for a neck strain.

Retief Goosen, Richard Sterne, Jose Maria Olazabal, Michael Campbell, Jeev Milkha Singh and Shaun Micheel are confirmed non-runners at Wentworth because of injury.
