If you love the indie record stores and still buy vinyl you will like this.

There is a twist as the film is being made by a friend of mine and has already raised $8000 but now needs more to finish it. Any contributions are welcome and there are rewards for certain amounts.

Feel free to share the link and obviously don't feel obliged to contribute - just keep supporting your local record shop if you still have one.

That place so reminds me of Tempest in Brum (for anyone that knows it)

Used to love those shops, you would just flick through the records. I started doing this as a kid in the early 80s all through the 90s.

I don't mind CDs but MP3s, however handy to store, are just soulless. Nothing tangible :(

HMV will no doubt go the same way soon and we'll be left with diddly squat. Just the odd Now compilation in Asda :|

Brum had some great ones. Tempest, Highway 61, Reddingtons Rare Records, The Plastic Factory, Icicle Records, the original Virgin Records down by the law courts and of course Sworfish Sounds is still there though not in it's original building.

Happy days. :D

The Plastic Factory - that's the fella I couldn't think of.

There may be something over by the Custard Factory but that's it really.

Even better news for fans and collectors of vinyl.

Rrcord Store Day is Saturday 21st April this year and there are over 400 limited editions and special editions available from RSD shops. At least 230 indie shops are taking part but not all shops will stock all the releases. The RSD site lists all the stores taking part and all the releases available.

Post any questions re RSD and I will try to answer them.

thanks for posting up the reminder

I will try and get myself down to the local store to see what I can find, but might be tricky as I've got a long away trip on saturday already lined up.
