There's a brief discussion about it here: post1582520.html#p1582520

On the whole it looks great and whilst it might be a little confusing I think the concept is good enough to get over that.

Not sure if I will like it but hope to go see it with the gfriend at the IMAX theatre on Thursday. The reviewers I respect the most have all ripped it, while acknowledging it is visually striking, but the second tier reviewers are creaming themselves over it. It definitely sounds worth seeing. Obviously I will reserve judgment until I actually see it.

It was good. Very original and makes you question things. A few things were a bit off and a bit slow in places, but better than most crap out there. Best of the year so far.

Well, that's me convinced then, it's gonna be rubbish if the "upper tier" reviewers aren't rating it.

You have to make a decision about whether to spend the time and money on a movie. I find the best film critics tend to point me in the right direction. In the end, of course, I have to judge for myself. Pretty straightforward I would say. If a friend whose taste in film I often share recommends one I will listen to that. My precocious 18-year-old downloads a lot of foreign films and watches them, for example, and I find I almost always like the ones he likes. There are exceptions of course. As for Inception, it sounds interesting enough to watch, even if in the end I don't think it is all that good. I'll let you know.

The question you have to ask yourself Pouzer is, how do you know FISO and the world around you isn't a dream?

Pleased to confirm that this is easily the best movie I've seen this year and I seriously doubt that will have changed by the end of December.

The only down side to this movie was that for a good few hours after I'd left the cinema, reality seemed less...'real' than it had before  ...

Although by no means perfect (it's better than 'The Dark Knight' but falls slightly short of the standards set in 'Batman Begins', 'The Prestige' & 'Memento'), 'Inception' is very, very decent indeed & as stated above I will be surprised if a better movie is released before the end of the year.

It's definitely worth making a trip to the cinema for & certainly best viewed if you know as little as possible about it (so trailers etc are best avoided IMO)...

Not really a cinema going - effing rip off - is the chick in it hot?

Is that the divine Ms Gershon playing a hooker in the new/next Mirren film?

Was going to see it tonight and wife convinced me to wait until on DVD / HD.

Is it a big screen viewing or will I still get what I want by waiting?

Agree that it's generally an overpriced experience & I only go if the movie in question appears to be something special (which in this case it was)...

If you're referring to the 'Red' trailer posted on the BFM thread then no I don't think so (sorry :( )...

As it is (at times) visually stunning it's definitely worth seeing on the 'big screen' but I do think it will translate rather well to being viewed (in HD  ) at home...

OK. I'll be the bad guy. I went into Inception hoping and came out disappointed. No doubt the premise is pretty interesting and some of the visuals are intriguing. That's what you get for $100 million. Relentless pounding music and deliberate sensory overload is disorienting but neither profound nor entertaining, however. Not for me anyway. Many people looking for a summer action flick will probably enjoy it and I wish them well. I think lucid dreams are a fascinating subject cheapened here by turning them into an excuse to give us a boring repeat of the usual crazy, heart-pumping shoot-em-up supposedly inside someone's dream. Better than Vanilla Sky anyway, though that's not saying much. I would have liked to see this basic concept handled with class by a director with some taste, like a younger Ridley Scott for example, who did Blade Runner and Alien. Not sorry I went because it was interesting up to a point. In the end though it struck me as the same old stuff from The Dark Knight, only weaker. Everything at full volume plus millions of quick cuts designed to disorient you and make the story difficult to follow for no purpose. Owes a lot to The Matrix, 2001, Blade Runner, all of which are better films IMHO. I'm not saying don't go. This will surely be the blockbuster of the year and even if you don't like it you should probably see it to be in on the conversation.
My big hope is Winter's Bone, which open here in about a week.

Let's face it P you were never going to like it. We've all seen you talk about the films you like and I think it's fair to say that you look for something of a movie that the bulk of people don't. I bet that no other FISOer comes away describing the visuals as 'intriguing'! Tbh it's a little patronising to wish people well for enjoying it. Maybe stick to your foreign language art house flicks in the future, eh?

I think I am with Pouzar, who has put me off seeing it. What does Kermode say?

You know, it would have bothered me more if he'd actually liked it, for the rest of us simpletons Pouzar's 'review' is pretty much an iron clad seal of approval   ...

1) It was nothing like the batman. Just cos Hans Zimmer did the music, and Michael Caine and Cillian murhpy were in it probably kept bringing up batman for you.
2) Take the movie for what it is supposed to be, scifi action thriller, and it ticks all the boxes for an enjoyable film, its not supposed to be some boring foriegn crap or the third man (dear god spare me from ever watching that all the way through).
