Myself and Mrs Pincher are just moving into our own piso round the corner from the current one, and hence we are busy furnishing, which due to limited resources means we fall into category one at the moment...

Just though I would see what the general FISO community thinks about the Swedish flat-pack floggers?

they do sell a lot of cheap tatt.
Depends what you can afford, like argos if it,s really cheap, it wont be expected to last forever.
i always wanted to shop there until it arrived in MK and i have been 3 times and brought nothing to date.

Although i know that the more expensive stuff at argos is good value for money and decent quality. Although iam biased working for them i still wouldnt recommend some stuff, although others are really good based on selling price vs cost price.
I know for a fact that Next and JLP sell the a table for much more than us for example, but its the same one in every respect.

For DIY stuff though i'd have a look in Wickes , i bought alot there when i did my bathroom and its very good.

Had forgotten about that thread Lip - so far I haven't ballsed-up too much - only the bottom of the drawers the wrong way around (aesthetic issue) which was easily rectified, and the odd turney-screwey thing in the wrong way around which took a bit of extracting. We have only bought half the stuff we need so far - and still have the parquet issue to come.

I really am not much of a man when it comes to this sort of stuff  , though I can just about handle putting it together - Dios help me if I ever need to pick up a saw or a drill!

if you buy the expensive stuff then yes but the cheap stuff is generally just tat and breaks easily.

Ikea is great, use it regularly and even bought my kitchen there for a fraction it would have cost elsehwhere.

You can avoid the misery of going round there simply by going at night in the week rather than waiting for the masses to descend at the weekend.

I bought an IKEA kitchen 3 years ago.

Fitted the whole caboodle myself for a fraction of the cost of others and its fab. Looks great!

We got out kitchen there too last year - got some experts to fit it though and it looks great.

That said I wouldn't buy much else from there for my own house though, maybe just kitchen, conservatory/garden stuff and the knick-knacks like tea-lights etc. But we do furnish some other rental houses with IKEA stuff and it does look fresh and modern for a few years, and then as it's so cheap it can be easily replaced.
