Here's What You Could Have Won!


Concept: A season long competition based not on overall team scoring but how well a manager uses his/her squad.


How you win: Register the lowest score by the end of the season!


Scoring: In any game week your squad of 15 players has a potential maximum score which includes picking the highest scoring player as Captain - Max Score (MS).
The total score you actually achieve in a game week will be known as the Real Score (RS).

The difference between the max score and the real score will be your total for that week.

E.g. Max score = 108, Real Score = 78. Then your score will be 30.

If you hit the jackpot and you achieve the Max Score then you get 25pts deducted from your total.

If any teams are level on points then the highest total game score wins.

As well as Manager Of The Year, there'll be Manager Of The Phase.

Any team that can only field seven players or less in a gameweek will automatically be hit with a 50pt penalty (plus points lost). In this situation the jackpot bonus will not be awarded.
This only applies to gameweeks that have six fixtures or more (should this happen).

The deadline for this comp is August 11th 11:30am i.e. Gameweek One.

I'll aim to post a table by Wedesday evening each week.

Any team left untouched for 6 weeks will be booted out (unless there's a good reason like personal stuff, computer issues etc.)

Sounds like it'll be interesting, win or loose, GL. We all kick ourselves when we eff up, but to see it expressed over a season might even be educational!

We'll kick ourselves alright! I remember in previous seasons there were quite a few FPL.com posts saying "if only" etc.

I may look to change the scoring system slightly but the premise will remain the same.

I'm open to suggestions on this!

I do wonder if a 'full house' might not be so difficult that to deserve a bigger deduction - even 50 - would be deserved! Is it achieved that often in a season?

Possibly. The idea IMO is to find the player that consistently picks a good XI. Would increasing the jackpot bonus introduce a more fun random element? Or would it takeaway the achievement of a more consistent performer?

In which case, scrap the bonus altogether and make it a purist's game, eh?

Getting it right has to be rewarded - although maybe not too much as stated above.

Another thing that occurs to me with this game is that you can have a cup run and it won't affect you.

Gl, this sounds like a fun league. I'm going to hold off for a short time though to see whether I'll have a spare league to use. I'm already on 4 and I know that there will be some work leagues to start yet. Basically when i get a better idea how many spare I have I'll make a call.

Yes, but you'd need to pick the right captain and also if that's the case you're team ain't gonna be too good!
