Nice to see I only lost 6 points this week :) Not nice to see me bottom of the "what could have been" table :(

Btw, how come CarlosTF is on 150 when he is really on 142? Appreciate that transfers are not taken into account in this game, but he hasn't made any doubles, so his RS should match his actual score? :?

If all your subs come in and you captain the top scorer does that mean you get the jackpot thingy?

For this season- yes :)

Have added a points deducted column in the table but this does not affect the overall score. It's really for me to check that the scores are correct.

Then again it's interesting to see how many points folk spunk away through the season!!

I'm quite gutted that several players have managed to beat my maximum possible score with their real score :(

It might be worth noting that the four players to have scored the bonus have only taken a single 4pt hit between them, whereas the rest of us seem to have taken a lot more.

In my case i got the jackpot because i only had 11 players who actually played last weekend (plus captained the top man of course). If you have a full compliment to choose from it does make it harder to do well in this.

Pleased to be one of the players beating your MS tho.

I wouldn't read too much into that at this point. My theory is that people making more transfers at this stage have a "bigger" squad to choose from so are less likely to hit their maximum.

Out of the four jackpots this season, only one player had scoring subs.

Next season if this runs I'll take the actual XI picked as the real score - maybe that'll be fairer. New comp an' all that......

I think it is absolutely fine as it is Glasgowlatic. I like a comp with a bit of imagination. I am not saying that because I am (currently) top . :) FPL is a squad based game - and this uses the whole squad... nice work!

Some stats!

Image

After five game weeks I've been looking at some of our habits!!!

A common thread on the FPL.com sub forum is which formation to use. I'll be looking at this throughout the season.

At this early stage I'm basing these stats on 62 selections (the clever ones out there will point out there should be 90, but only selections that have scoring subs have been considered).

Most selected formation is 3-4-3 (21) followed by 4-3-3 (16) with the classic 4-4-2 at a mere 12 selections (19.4%).

Does playing three strikers pay off???? Not necessarily so far!

There were 22 4-4-2 max scores, 21 3-4-3 with only 7 / 62 of the max scores being 4-3-3.

Three strikers?

2 in 3 selections involved three strikers, the max score? It's a 50/50 split exactly between having three stikers and having two or less.

It's a small pool of team selections at the moment and it's not totally accurate but I have to say I was a bit surprised at the outcome.

Thoughts?

those are interesting figures, g l.
i wonder if you'd care to add them to the 'dolly vs j-lo' thread over in the main fpl forum. could be some extra food for thought.
reassuring to be a 4-4-2 this year and see that at the top. :)

I'll wait 'til I have a few more selections to (try to) draw a conclusion from before I do!

In a couple of weeks I'll post our captaining habits.

GW6 Table

We have a new leader (who also happens to have a rubbish bench  )

If you had Fabregas and didn't captain him then you've had a 'mare!

Now fully updated! :)

*unpacks anorak and removes thermos & sandwiches from satchel*

Stat time!

Image

Image

Based on a pool of 75 maximun scoring teams, 93% had 4 or 5 midfielders in them! Wohwaaaaaa!

Time to start a new fiso commandment? In fpl.com, thou shalt pick at least four midfielders! ?

EDIT: These stats are based on 75 team selections (those that had scoring subs) between GW's 7-13.

Captains Choice

Image

(Based on 105 team selections over the last seven GW's)

Midfielders have been by far the popular choice as captain, this is good as according to these stats your midfield will more than likely produce your top scorer.

Specifically, we love Cesc! He was selected 55 times, with Fake selected 23 times. Lampard has also been selected 11 times in the last three GW's.

Clearly when choosing our captain we go for one of the big four (except Liverpool!). Arsenal (fabregas) was the most popular club. Although if you're canny there's points out there if you can pick a captain outside the big four.
