I traced my mothers family back to 1748, and there is something that is quite amazing about it regarding the male heirs. Here is an extract to show you what I mean.

I never spotted that before The other thing that came out in the research was that they never married anybody from outside their own Parish. The furthest they seemed to travel in those days to find a bride was about 3 miles, of course there would be no motor cars then, and you would have to walk or cycle everywhere.
