I made this spreadsheet today , to try and see if there was any patterns as to when the best time would be to transfer certain players based on when their teams might com up against the Top 7 teams from last season , if its any use , only you can decide .....help yourself :)

https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuKfm2lR8tKDdDNlSlBxLUJkSjRRc0ZEVW1OUUpBV1E&hl=en_GB#gid=0

Any feedback on it is welcome

Cool ................. good to excercise the old grey matter ....................... any patterns leaping out at anyone yet ?

who to choose , when to choose them ..........or even when not to choose them ?

Bolton and Tottenham seem to have a difficult start to the season for the first 2 TW's at least , but a relatively easy finish ( if they can both hold it together for that long )

whereas Norwich seem to have the worst end of season possible ....... 5 of the Top 7 in the last 2 months ????

Chelsea, Newcastle and QPR seem to have easy starts to the season.

Although QPR are an unknown quantity.
Newcastle could do alright with the investments they've made so far.
Chelsea look attractive (I dont buy into all this new manager revolution stuff… i think it will be business as usual).

With TW1 deadline approaching, has anyone looked at favourable fixtures for TW2 yet.

If so, please direct me to the thread Zimm.

If not, it would be interesting to discuss in preparation for making our first transfers in anticipation of easy TW2 fixtures.

according to my method of working out fixture difficulty, the easiest fixtures are for Arsenal, Villa, and Fulham. With the most difficult for Bolton, Blackburn and Wigan.

What I'd like to know is how many european fixtures each team is going to have between TW1-TW2, they've made a big diffence so far, and could do again

I agree, it would be important to be aware of those.

I've done quite well so far picking players with easy fixtures in TW1 (one of my teams is upto 129th) and I'd like to carry on this idea into TW2.

If Fulham have easy fixtures aswell as Villa, then this idea could easily be continued (i.e. not many transfers to be done).

well between TW1 - TW2 Fulham have to play: Blackburn and Man City at home, then West brom away, the QPR at home. Got a feeling 2 out of those 4 will be clean sheets, plus any european games

Villa have Everton (a), Newcastle (h), qpr(a), Wigan (h)

so both fairly easy, only hard game that stands out is fulham v man city

Very generous Dazmann. :)

Looks to me like if Aguerro's performance against Swansea wasn't enough to get him transferred in at TW1, then City's fixtures between TW1 and TW2 may be . . . .

If I had the ability to update this spreadsheet with all european matches then I would...but I don't.

This spreadsheet (once updated with the Euro fixtures) will be a very useful tool when considering impending transfers. So are there any excel wizards out there with the time to give it a go...?? (Dazmanno, Dreamteam21, Jules, Zimmerman)

Does anyone know how to make it so that the team name stays at the top when you scroll down and the dates stay at the left when you scroll across? I know it can be done but have no idea how. Would make it bit easier to use.

Thanks for all the work you guys have done tho, very useful

Assuming you have saved it locally (on your computer) as an excel doc;

click in cell A2
Window menu (along the top)
Click on Freeze Pane

to save it locally, there is an option to "download" near the top of the sheet (little green excel looking symbol).

Apologies if this is telling you how to suck eggs.

With a bit of playing around I managed to find the freeze panel button thanks. much easier to compare teams now without getting confused :D

Sorry guys , i have had no spare time to do the euros and other cup ties ............. but i see maximo monkey has , thanks for taking that little challenge on .............. i wonder if it makes any difference in the long run , as all my choices for the dreamteam ( using this method ) seem to have fallen short , or been injured .....or been transferred out ?

might well be a case of back to the drawing board .................. ho hum , never mind , was still a decent idea ...at least to start with

No probs Dazmann, glad to help, it didnt take too long (and certainly not as long as it most have taken you to do all the prem games) so cheers for doing all the hard work in the 1st place.

Regarding your fixture method of picking players, I havnt used the fixtures as an absolute rule of who i will pick but its definatly very useful to see all the fixtures in one place and does help make a decision on a difficult transfer decision :)
