Surely the Daily Mail should be held responsible for this sort of irresponsible drivel? It is so important that our kids are vaccinated against major diseases and now they are scare mongering about the cancer vaccination which protects women against cancer of the cervix.

The jab which protects against cervical cancer is another unpraised testimony to the progress made in healthcare and the great service we get, free at the point of delivery by the NHS.

One in ten female cancers diagnosed is cancer of the cervix. The jab which has been available since 2008 and is now given to girls in schools reduces the chances of getting cancer of the cervix by 80%. It really is a huge step forward compared to smear tests which only tell us when someone already has cancer. Despite it being a very curable cancer if detected early (90% survival) about 1000 women in the UK die from it in the UK each year.

This is prevention and protection. Exactly what we should want our healthcare to do.
You may have seen this story in the Daily Mail.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/artic ... r-jab.html

So i thought i’d just post a few facts about this case.

Firstly this girl already had chronic fatigue syndrome. Her supposed reaction to the jab came only at the third dose (no “reaction” to 1 and 2) and the “reaction” came a full 3 WEEKS after the jab was given.

The ONLY connection between her condition and the jab is the view of her parents.

This is why it is important to read papers, like the mail, even if you don't like them.

They say that
Quote:
4 million vaccinations carried out over the programme's first two years, there were 4,445 reported side effects.
1,669 reported 'injection-site reactions' for example a sore arm. No shit.
1,013 reported allergic reactions, most were rashes.
There were 3,591 'other recognised reactions' including 631 cases of nausea and 629 headaches.
There were four cases of Guillan-Barre Syndrome, which can lead to paralysis. Although the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency notes: 'There is no evidence that the vaccine has increased the frequency of GBS above that expected to occur naturally in the population'.

So after reading through the numbers there are ONLY 4 serious cases which may or may not be linked to drug.
thats 1 in 1000000. FFS.
Every type of injection, people get side effects. Like a sore arm, or they feel nuasuses, cause some people don't like needs, and their body is fighting a dead virus anyway.

Yes, i read the whole article

That is what the Mail does. But the headline is irresponsible and misleading. This is pure sensationalist groundless and immoral reporting. Mud sticks.

We are talking about life and death here. That may sound a little dramatic but we are.

Why not complain to the press watchdog (being serious)

Does it matter, this would only lead to a few less Daily Mail readers in the world, big loss. Darwinism in action. Survival of the non-gullible (not being so serious)

But fear is contagious. Those who don't have read mail, but the guardian, if they have daily mail reader friends whose kids go to same school it can put a doubt in some peoples minds.

part of my job used to be encouraging women to go for their smear test and to drive up the % of woment that did so.

As i say, you have a great chance of recovering from cancer of the cervix if its detected through your 3 yearly smear test (90% plus)

But there is a very clear correlation between those who do not go for tests and some of the most vulnerable in our society: firstly the more deprived the area you live in, those whose english is poor, those with learning difficulties, mobility issues and so.

So in fact its the less educated and more likely to get their info from gossip that this will impact on and that is the vry group that is already more unlikley to do it
