This thread originally started as an alert for a cheap Neil Young album, but quickly developed to all round general download / CD bargains.

Title edited accordingly (good suggestion Murf)

-------------------------------

Surely a mistake but Harvest by Neil Young is available to download on Amazon for 69p.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003 ... d_i=468294

I already have the album and I'm still tempted!

Only works off that link - I searched directly on the site and it came more expensive.

So even though I've never listened to Neil Young I thought I'd start with this bargain!

Cheers :D

Great album - can you find one I haven't got though!

(they also have Lady Goo Goo's double album for £3 if you have another half who, like Mrs m, wants it)

It's come full circle Mrs K is now the "proud" owner of a Ladyboy Gaga album.

I was always amazed that Neil Young managed to record one of the seminal albums of the 70's, only a few years after bagging the winner for Man City in the FA Cup Final at Wembley. What a renaissance man!

[or have I done that gag on here before? probably! :) ]

No record collection is complete without Harvest and After The Goldrush, imho.
If you don't already have it (why not) this is a bargain not to be missed.

Just by glancing at your avatar I'd say you look remarkably like Neil Young and here you are on a Neil young inspired thread quoting the title of a famous Neil Young song.

What a coincidence.........or is it a coincidence...........could we be entering the twiglet zone?

I always check here nowadays to find the cheapest place (also does CDs). It isn't perfect but is near enough for cash saving:

I wasn't that complimentary when it was first plugged on FISO (by admin?) but it has improved - especially for us luddites who still buy CDs - and I use it a lot now.

take out an amazon credit card and they give you £15 credit onto it straight away, that'll pay for a few tunes

That's a good spot, Murf, will muse over that.

As an aside, if no-one else minds, I might ask a Mod to merge this thread with this one

amazon-downloads-t54819.html

which was gathering dust a bit.

As far as I can see, Amazon offer a handful of singles free every week, five albums at £5, and then the cheaper albums come and go over time. They have certainly expanded the range of cheap albums for download, albeit less at the £3 mark than when my thread was launched.

What annoys me is having a stack of credit at iTunes and Amazon always undercutting them :x

Bread: Baby I'm A Want You / Bread / Guitar Man / Manna / On The Water.
Cars: Candy-O / Heartbeat City / Panorama / Shake It Up / The Cars.
Chaka Khan: Chaka / Chaka Khan / I Feel For You / Naughty / What Cha' Gonna Do For Me.
Chris Rea: Espresso Logic / On The Beach / Shamrock Diaries / The Road To Hell / Water Sign.
Detroit Spinners: Live! / Mighty Love / New & Improved / Pick Of The Litter / The Spinners.
Dionne Warwick: Anyone Who Had A Heart / Make Way For / Presenting / Valley Of The Dolls / Windows Of The World.

Kix: Blow My Fuse / Cool Kids / Hot Wire / Kix / Midnite Dynamite.
Linda Ronstadt: Cry Like A Rainstorm / Living In The USA / Mad Love / Prisoner In Disguise / Simple Dreams.

The Resurrection Of Pigboy Crabshaw.
Pogues: Hell's Ditch / If I Should Fall From Grace With God / Peace & Love / Red Roses For Me / Rum Sodomy & The Lash.
Pretenders: Get Close / Last Of The Independents / Learning To Crawl / Pretenders / Pretenders II.
Rickie Lee Jones: Girl At Her Volcano / Naked Songs / Pirates / Rickie Lee Jones / The Magazine.

Slave: Just A Touch Of Love / Stone Jam / Slave / The Concept / The Hardness Of The World.
Todd Rundgren: Faithful / Runt / Runt: The Ballad Of Todd Rundgren / The Ever Popular Tortured Artist Effect /
The Hermit Of Mink Hollow.
Warren Zevon: Bad Luck Streak In Dancing School / Envoy / Excitable Boy / Stand in The Fire / Warren Zevon

The only thing I'm not sure about is whether they are digitally re-mastered or not. Maybe not but at £3 each, they sound good value and a good place to learn a bit about a new artist. I need some Echo & The Bunnymen albums, rather than my current mish mash of compilations.

I left my iPod in the car last night and wasn't going out at 11:30 to fetch it! I'll upload it or whatever it is that young people do with their music playing devices later and listen in the car tomorrow.

IMHO - everyone does 8-) : those first 5 albums, recorded by the classic line-up, are all must-haves. It's easy to spot the digitally re-mastered versions because they all have a fair number of extra tracks - and they really are a significant improvement on the original CD releases, particularly Heaven Up Here.

I'm not dabbling myself but the new White Stripes live album out today is 3.99 on Amazon download.

Haven't seen why but it might be a one day offer to get up into the new midweek chart like Gorillaz last week.

Thanks AkNotSpur. I've ordered three of the EATB albums (the remastered versions) along with the best of Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac and the best of The Move. Should while a way a few happy hours...
