I see you started this thread last season el_pappje. I don't want to steal your thunder so it may be worth starting another one considering this news about Justin Rose.

Wouldn't be a pick for me but others may be considering him in.

Outrage! Admin! Admin! Jonathan is stealing my thunder Sir!

It's always good to have these threads every season - nice one for picking up on the Justin Rose story.

Best tinker my teams then eh

  I thought perhaps you would start a new one but very efficient that it is already a sticky and renamed! Back problems for Rose could see him a worry all season... shame.. he had a decent season last year and lived up to some of his potential.

Brett Quigley left half way through his practice round to be with his wirth who is about to give birth... likely to miss The Masters?

Optimistically, I'd love to come back," he said. "If everything goes great today or tonight, I'll try to come back either late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning, depending on my tee time.

"Like I said it just depends on how momma and the baby are doing."

If you are playing OFL Golf it's the transfer amnesty currently.

He is in the field but he could yet pull out... don't know how bad his back really is but they don't get better overnight.

Rose played 2 consecutive days in the Lake Nona v Isleworth challenge at the start of last week.On Tuesday I think he reached the turn in 29 with 2 eagles before Tiger hauled him in.I was dipping in and out of Sky's coverage but it didn't appear that his back was an issue at all.

No but they can get worse overnight. Sounds like he has a similar back problem to mine so he'll be fine and may well play better golf knowing that he shouldn't overstress his back. If he still has a slight disc weakness, it could set off a back twinge at any time (more likely on the way to the golf course than on it) and would mean some of his back muscles would sieze up for at least 24 hours.

I can understand that admin.... you would take it a bit more easy and therefore put more thought into where you put the ball rather than bash it as far as you can - Rose to win!

I hope yours is getting better though as I noticed you had to miss the first FISO Golf Society meet :(

Looks like Rose may well be leading after Round 1. Beware the injured golfer is an oft used phrase!

Hoping to play at the weekend - will see if I can play anything like Rose.

P.S. Hear that Immelman was suffering quite badly from food poisoning yesterday and only just recovered in time to start his afternoon round.

Probably...lol...but seriously at 1.2 he doesn't represent vfm, only played 11 games last year and missed the cut 5 times, and at 47 he won't play too many this year. If he is injured get rid.

Nope, plenty will do because of his Masters track record. When he does play he tends to do ok - but he doesn't play much. And yes, on the basis of last night's interview he might well be looking to call it a day.

Simon Dyson withdrawn from the Volvo China this morning. Sounds like he walked off feeling unwell - await to hear if an injury.

On the Betfair Golf Forum they were saying he had a stomach upset and had missed the pro-am!

Which is why I really, REALLY wanted a first sub rule on this game... too much of a lottery when this happens and it is frustrating that we don't have the option when something like this occurs at midnight our time! I am now a man down and didn't need to be :x

Always worth looking on the golf forum on betfair - they mentioned that Dyson had a problem yesterday so you would have time to get rid!

That may be so The Bear... but I still think it is a weakness in the game which has often been mentioned amongst FISO players. It has a £15 entrance fee and often managers are left in the lurch with last second withdrawals where it would be so much more friendly to nominate one player who could step in at the last second - just as they do at the real life tournaments.

I don't like to moan but after the atrocious start I had with both my teams this is just adding to my annoyance.

I agree Jon, though I only have 5 playing anyway this week, so it wouldn't have helped.

The problem with Forum gossip is it's not reliable. How annoying would it be to drop the favourite for the tournament, then find he plays afterall. More damaging than losing him, along with everyone else IMO.

Like me subbing Rose in the Masters after reading this thread. It was a rather rushed team selection though

True Spencer! :) Of course if you didn't have a playing sub anyway the problem is still there - but that is something that will happen a fair bit I would think - only having 5 or 6 active and it is the decision of the manager whether they go into a tournament week with that situation.

Have to say I am disappointed that is seems absolutely nothing was taken on board in relation to opinion in here and the questionnaries we filled in. Don't get me wrong - it's a smashing game and smashingly well run - but there seems little chance in playing catch-up and this withdrawal malarky doesn't help.

I would have liked to have seen a feature where you could nominate 3 or 4 tournaments in a year that would become additional doubles for a potential additional points bonanza! Oh well! I sound like a grumpy old man this morning!

But the Rose injury news wasn't for The Masters, it was for the WGC-CA Championship!

I told you team selection was rushed! I read the news without looking at the dates and assumed he was 50:50 on competing. What a numpty

I understand the frustration but it is "buyer beware". You can get caught out by a late withdrawal but that is just a risk everyone takes. Imagine if in a football game someone was injured in the warm-up when due to start - it might be beyond the cut-off point for changes and leave you in a similar position. Only FPL has auto-subs doesn't it?

Jonathan - certainly don't give up now. Although there were a few big scores I suspect the field is a bit more bunched than normal as many popular players did nothing special at Augusta. Last year I had a team finish 25th, 3rd in FISO league and it won the US PGA. All that and it didn't have a great Masters and certainly wasn't the team I expected to be my best. There is a long way to go and getting on board with golfers who go on a run is key. For the US PGA I got £100 and a fairway wood - that should be incentive enough to offset the entry costs!
