I'm also tempted to stick with Robinson after his first few games are over so not sure how important it is to have a keeper of equal value if I only plan to use them on the odd occasion.

.

Yup. I've Hahnemann and Carson for a grand total of 8.5 with a guaranteed home game every week.

Me too, although not looking beyond GW7 at the moment.

Their fixtures seem to pair up well, Wolves are quite defensive while West Brom could have plenty of opportunities for save points.

Yes, but tempted to just go with Hahnemann all season long and forget about juggling.

Hahnemann + Hennessy last year was 139pts, and that's more than good enough for an 8.5m outlay if he can repeat that.

How many points is .5 worth elsewhere (has anyone tried to put a number on this)?

Wolves alone (8.5 mil): 139 points
Wolves/West Brom (8.5) : predicted 127 home points
Wolves/Birmingham (9.0): predicted 155 home points (if Foster can match Hart's performance)

This Wolves-only approach might not be a bad idea if .5 mil can make-up the difference elsewhere, especially if the Wolves/Birmingham points were distributed more heavily toward the end of the year (or anytime after your wildcard).

Anyone know if Foster is in goal for Birmingham tonight?

They've conceded 2 in the first half to MK Dons

edit: he is indeed.

My confidence in Ben Foster is being drained by the day, he's no Joe Hart put it that way.

Adreed. The Hahnemann idea is a gem. I currently have him and Jussi...

So... How's this 'injury' to Foster affecting people's pairings now?...

Reckon it's a real issue with his back, or is he just another drop-out since Cappello already confirmed that Hart was going to start?!...

If he's genuinely out, I may have to reconsider having any Birmingham defenders as well now...

Just seen this, first time I've noticed a question like this all pre-season but that is THE question that everyone should be asking when choosing how to spread their budget.

My answer is that every million is worth 20 points over the season. The graph I posted here is my estimates of how many points you'd expect to get from the players in each position at each price (above base). There is a very clear common gradient for the four positional 'best-fit' lines, showing 20 extra points for every extra million.

(And as an aside I also use this to put a value on price changes: near the start of the season doing a transfer early to catch a 0.1 rise is worth 2 points; decreasing to 1 point around halfway through the season and nothing at the end)

Foster now has a doubtful status with a 'Back Injury'

Can anyone give me any info on this?

Pulled out of the England squad yesterday. Haven't heard anything since.

Will probably be fine for the weekend

Birmingham have recalled Colin Doyle from a loan spell. Says Foster isn't definitely out for the weekend but at the same time the recall of Doyle indicates that it isn't nothing either.

Digging this post up from the grave b/c I bought two 4.0 keepers that didn't play (Myhill and Rachubka). I need to switch these to two starters. Can any1 suggest which two 4.0 GKers are best?

Mignolet/Carson/Gilks are the three at 4.0 that are going to be playing, take your pick.
