How much attention have people been paying the same day goalies? I had things pretty happily covered but with Cech's injury it's put a spanner in the works. Now I'm thinking of ditching the second goalie plan and going for the cheap option to spend elsewhere.

What are others doing?

Hi Wilbert.

I consider the Goalkeeper the one position were a sacrifice can be made and have just one keeper playing per weekend if necessary (ie 14 players play over the weekend) as it is the lowest scoring position and you would also select the Goalkeepr of the two you have most likely to keep a clean sheet.

I have 6 of the first 12 weekends covered (Subject to injury/rotation) for 2 teams in which both keepers will play although one team only had 4 of the first 12 game weeks covered and as one of the keepers is Tim Howard, I also lost the first gameweek as well. This team may have to be looked at. It is a position that many transfers could be blown on if you insist on having 15 players playing each week.

I done a bit of a mix... some with two strong gk's... some with a cheapie.... good points to be had with 9 clean sheet winners! Not done too much forward planiing if both can get on then great, if not I'll pick the one with the best chance of a cs. I f two strong and one is cech I think he is a hold

I couldn't be bothered figuring out what was the best way to get a keeper playing each week, so I have used the FPL.com technique and picked keepers from paired teams, so at least one of them is playing at home each week. If they play on different days, then its a bonus.

FS Record: not bad
The relative cheapness of Given made the decision easier. I had a bit of look at the fixtures to make sure they weren't clashing too often then went with Given + Cech in two, Hart, De Gea, and Schwarzer in one each.

I didn't worry too much about clashes in any position. I looked ahead at the fixtures a bit just to make sure I didn't have loads of clashes but generally I went with my old TFFO technique of just picking the best squad I could and leaving the fixtures to work themselves out. Games get moved, players get injured and suspended so I don't think it's worth putting too much effort into guaranteeing you can play every player every week.

Thanks for the responses all. I had 3 Cech's with a mixture of Given and Schwarzer.

Interesting theory about home clashes.

Everton - Liverpool
Man City - Utd
Sunderland - Newcastle?
Arsenal - Spurs?

Any others?

Villa, West Brom and Wolves seem to play on the same days?

I can tell you that Man City and Aston Villa will not play at home on the same day, although one team could of course be at home and the other one away on the same day (This is the rationale behind my Goalkeeper pairing of Hart and Given in the Metro game)

I don't play FPL but I know there is some info there about Premier League Club Pairings
on some of the FPL websites about which clubs will not both play at home on the same day. There are obvious ones like Man City / Man utd but some others are less obvious.

The H/A pairs, for playing at home on alternate weekends, are:

ars-tot
avl-stk
bla-nor
bol-wig
che-ful
eve-liv
mcy-mun
new-sun
qpr-swa
wbr-wlv

Man City and Villa are either both home or both away for 8 fixtures in a row from 26th November.

None of this helps choose 2 keepers who always play on a different day - that's at the mercy of our Sky TV overlords and the Europa League (but it does help with the Woolster strategy of "if I get a clash never mind, I'll always have one home fixture out of the two")
