Bentley 7m - misses GW2.
Speed 6.5m - getting old.
McSheffrey 6.5m - unproven

I'm going for him too also at the moment.

MIDs first 7 GWs look quite good and if he can click early there could be some good points at what is not a huge cost.

Malbranque at 6.5m makes sense. He's featured in all spurs pre season games and you will be aware of his previous fantasy football pedigree. He may not stay fit, but whilst he is - he's very good value in a spurs team with goals in them.

Nolan - super gamble, would take a brave warrior to pick him but if his form comes back then he will get a fair share of assists and cracking goals. If that was cold enough, I wouldn't think he would seriously get too many boni points though. He's 7 mil, so either rave on him to have a better season, or treat my post as pure gubbins.

my initial thoughts on Hargreaves are "king of the bonus points" + assists.

hope i'm right :)

I haven't seen his name mentioned anywhere yet and he does miss gameweek 2 but I think Boa Morte could be amazing value. He's set up a couple of tap ins in preseason, and although I'm not 100% he'll be in the starting XI he's on my watchlist and could be worth a gamble. 7m for such an attacking midfielder who can go on streaks seems nice to me.

The problem Hargreaves has is that he's in a team chocabloc with heavy scoring players who may - if the goals flow - nab these bonus points themselves.

Got to agree Sarky - few will remember that a few seasons ago he got the most assists in FPL while playing for Fulham  (I'm pretty sure this is correct) Also I think WH will do quite well this season - although I said the same thing at the start of last season!

Malbranque for me. Linking very well with the TH forwards right now, and capable of scoring, too.

Koumas looks good for 6.0, as well.

WHy not set up a poll. Options so far seem to be:

Malbranque
Downing
Speed
Boa Morte
Hargreaves
Nolan
Bentley
McSheffrey

I gotta throw Milner's name into the hat as well. I think he'll do even better this season. Scores a handful of goals & is sure to set up the odd goal for Viduka, Owen et al.

Spurs 2-0 Friendly today - Some promising reading :D

Quote:
64.53: GOAL - SPURS. Chimbonda cross to far post found Malbranque clear, six yards out, did not panic and took ball around Sereni before squaring for Berbatov to tap in

Plus two shots at end of first half
Quote:
37.24: Malbranque shot blocked by Di Loreto

42.21: CLOSE - SPURS. Great controlled passing movement in small area around the box involving Keane, Berbatov and Tainio ended with Tainio flick to Malbranque, he hit instant shot well blocked by Lanna

Cue bandwaggon ...

suprised no-one has mentioned yossi. playing well in the preseason, fairly certain to start and like steed has a proven premiership pedigree.

as an aside wondering if, looking at the price structure, whether the best value is to be had in this price range. there are a number of good players and will free up some cash for the big name defenders and forwards

Hleb has done well pre-season however unless he is playing as asupport striker to van Persie, I fail to see him holding down a regular place. I expect the midfield to be:

-----Eboue----------Gilberto---------Fabregas--------Rosicky-----

However, Gilberto will almost certainly be rested for a few weeks yet so Hleb could play the first few GWs in the centre of midfield. But when Gilberto returns he will be competing with Da Silva and Adebayor for a place up front

The last few preseason matches has seen Hleb playing behind RVP due to the injury to Adebayor. I can't see it lasting long, as he scores so infrequently. Also I think that when the forwards are fit, he will take the RM place with Eboue dropping back to RB.

I'm not sure that Wenger is keen on Eboue at right back any more. Eboue made a few blunders defensively last term and Sagna appears to be ahead of him in the right back pecking order

Not quite sure of the rules of this game but Hleb is probably worth having for the first few games where he probably will play support strikers.

My Spurs/Hammers mates have told me to avoid Steed/Boa - but if either approach their Fulham points they could be awesome.

Yossi looks good but will get rotated. McSheffrey counts as a striker in most games and takes penalties - but will Brum score.

Downing is good and Boro have an easy start.

But I'd pick Bentley from that list.

Why is that Big Beast? Do they reckon they wont get a game, or will score few points? Ive banked on Steed starting at least the first few games!

Blackburn have tough opposition in weeks 3, 4 and 6 - not to mention the toughest opposition of all in gameweek 2 - an off week. For this reason neither Bentley or MGP rates at the start of the season for me.
