Harry Enfiled show staretd poorley then picked up with the inspired L& H sketch and that guy in Islington selling crap to Bohemians :D . I though that was spot on and quite knowing...
the Peep Show I dont get, niche student humour at best.

Ruddy dreadful tv.

Didn't think it was that bad, although the only sketch that really got a laugh out of me was Nelson Mandela's Alcopops and Fighting Beer - sick I know, but I did find it funny.
Did I miss something with those? I kind of found them funny but wasn't really sure why :?

Yeah, it was surreal, but I liked it - I wish the rest of the show had more of that spirit.

Still no Harry Enfield up in Scotland .... and no Match Of The Day tonight, either!
I'll have to record the Sunday am showing. It's just not the same as watching on Saturday night, though. :(

Peep Show was excellent and continued at its BAFTA award-winning best last night. As usual, there were some real lol moments, especially Jez gagging to tell that he'd shagged the mum.
Interesting to see Cheryl Campbell (playing the mother) after all these years. She was a hot stuff back in the '70s, especially in Dennis Potter's 'Pennies From Heaven'.

Embarrassingly... I've never watched Pheonix Nights so I tuned into that last night.

Pretty funny I suppose...

Used to really like Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse but that was awful, don't think I even managed a smile.
Luckily Have I got news was funny so not a total waste of time.

Regretably not! I think that was a cable eff-up, and I'm a Freeview bod.

Is it just me or is there less sex on (standard) telly in the UK these days?
Time was you couldn't tune in to BBC2 without seeing some RADA-trained buttocks bouncing up and down on a Dennis Potter series, or method-trained mammaries swinging like a metronome on 'Play For Today'.
For instance, twenty years ago full female nudity would have been compulsory on a show like 'Life on Mars' .
Where did it all go so very, very wrong?

phx nights is quality dixied, and actually gets better as it goes on.
So many good moments hard to pick the best ones.
Singles night, quiz night and comedy night eps all make me chuckle even on the upteenth repeat.

BTW
I thought Peep show was good the other night , will watch the repeat again thurs and try to remember to record it.
Dont know about the student humour aspect but it was far funnier than HE new show, although QI was great too.

Nevermind the buzzcocks was good as always. Derren brown was a bit of an anticlimax but like the trick or treat idea.

Peep show great as always. QI was a repeat but good and phoenix nights was class.

Harry and Paul was okay, i suppose. Had a chuckle at the football diving sketch and brokeback mountain. But, stuff like the dutch guy in the gym didn't even draw a smirk.

But!

We've got many weeks of this lineup so you better start liking it :D

Ah, well, at least I'll get to see 'Peep Show', my favourite sitcom in years! :P

Hairybear: I know what you are saying, but too often the production quality of Scottish shows is much poorer (granted, the budget is much smaller!) and the standard of supporting actor much weaker.
Its strength lie in the social interaction between the characters as much, if not more, than it does in the situation.

But that isn't exclusive to Scotland.

'Catchphrase comedy' has its place, but we've seen far too much of it over the past 10 years, imo. Invariably, the catchphrase becomes tiresome and the search for fresh senarios ridiculous. The trouble is, it's too easy to write and often cheap to make = 21st Century TV execs' wet dream.

Catchphrase comedy, eh - bit harsh to blame that crap on Roy Walker

Peep Show was excellent got the Wife to watch it to (first time) she nearly wet herself when they 'floored it' at the end

Saw the second half of the HE / PW show on Friday. Largely disappointing was my view. I won't make an effort to watch it again.
I've never seen any peep show episodes, but have been told it's worth watching, and enjoy M&W's Radio4 comedies, so intend to watch them from the beginning when I get time.
