I assume everyone has had the email offering a free go on the professional auction game covering the rest of the season.

Anyone interested?

I'll suggest a league of 12 starting as soon as we can get 12 names and the online auction organised. I'd also be happy to be chairman if no-one else wants the job (although imminent baby means it might be better if someone else took it on).

Any other ideas for local rules?

I haven't had an email. But I'm definitely interested.

Dear Brian,

As an established Classic manager we'd like to reward you with a completely free trial of Fantasy League Professional! For the remainder of the season you, and your friends, can play the original fantasy football game without charge.

This is the first time Professional has ever been available for FREE, so we hope you take advantage of it, and love the game as much as our current managers do.

This exclusive game usually costs up to £39 to play for a season. Almost everyone who plays comes back season after season after season, and we are offering you the chance to find out why...

Fantasy League Professional shares many of the qualities that you are used to such as the Classic scoring method, and the squad based management system. However, there are some key differences in playing Professional, that separate it from Classic and all other fantasy football games.

What makes Fantasy League Professional so special?
Auction - either getting together with your friends for a night in the pub, or online. The auction is the highlight of the football season!
One player, one team - when Rooney bags a hat-trick, only one of you in the league can celebrate. You genuinely own the players in your team.
League management - how you run your league is completely down to you. You can buy and sell players amongst managers in your league, transfer list players and hold auctions for new players who move to the Premier League. You can set squad sizes, run custom cups and a whole lot more...

You can set up your auction and start scoring from December 1st onwards, however you may want to arrange your auction for January so you can see who's moving in the transfer window.

To take advantage of this offer, you just need to visit the Fantasy League Professional website where you can set up your league and invite your friends to play for FREE!

If you'd prefer, why not set up a league amongst your colleagues at work? It's the perfect way to get one over on the boss...

Please visit the Step-by-Step set up guide or get in touch with us with any questions you have on the game, or on setting up your league. Email Pro support at prosupport@fantasyleague.com or call us on 0207 428 2121.

Happy managing!

Come on guys, how about three more. This could be a fun game, different from most other fantasy experiences*.

* seems that this word is compulsory for any marketing efforts these days.

Made first post around January 2002 when bspittles invited people to join a free OFL Professional league covering the last few months of that season. More than a dozen of us played this free auction game, including other FISO start-up members like Mr Pink/Green, Striker, Vid, Wino, Suzykins, leggy and ChrisK himself.

So:

1. bspittles
2. richt
3. reds363
4. Striker
5. the pom
6. snout
7. deppy

I would be interested in playing but didn't receive any email from OFL.

Begging everyone's indulgence/assistance, does anyone know how to access the pre-October 2005 forum threads?
Links don't seem to work any longer, eg:
http://www.fiso.co.uk/phpbb2/viewtopic. ... sc&start=0

Had hoped to retrieve info on original 2002 OFL Auction run by bspittles. Seem to remember we each emailed a list of £m bids for individual footballers to Brian. Also recall no one went for Ruud van Nistelrooy in first round! And modesty (almost) forbids mentioning end-season league winner...

I understand that OFL now offer an auction service themselves, so while one that is administered by a FISOite might be preferable, we do at least have an alternative if no-one wishes to act as auctioneer (I can't, as stated above).

And I won't be bidding for Ruud van Nistlerooy this time, either!

We have 10 managers so time to start it all rolling!

No-one has offered to be chairman (don't blame you all!) so I'll set up the league and PM all the necessary details to those involved.

Now, I wonder how much Ian Harte will go for...
