Go Colbert. After beating me on 2nd round from 2 sets down in tie break you should go on to win the whole thing...

Semi Final - Set 2

Well well after two walkovers in the first set things are a bit closer this week. It's fight back week with both tie now level at 1 set all after both Blueprint and Bossdrum took their respective sets 6-4 (and by 8 points). Things could not be closer. The players hardly have a chance to eat bananas or throw a towel over their head. The 3rd set starts tomorrow and its all to play for....

Semi Final - Set 3

The scores are in.

The players are winning alternate sets at the moment it would seem. Bossdrum is going to have to dig deep to pull this one round - Colbert is on fire again winning the 3rd as he won the 1st - 6-1.

In the other tie it is the seed that has found his form again - but it was another close set - Jimmyhill taking the set 6-4 from Blueprint.

So to set 4 - will this decide the final line up or will it go to a deciding set.....?

Colbert (58 points + Cathcart + Kyrgiakos) vs bossdrum (48 points + Evatt + Konchesky)

Doubtful either Liverpool player will get a point between them so all comes down to the battle of the Blackpool defenders. I am more than grateful that Gerrard will be missing.

Game, set & match. Well done Colbert.

Thanks Knulpuk for running a great game.

The Semi - Finals - the Results

That title should tell you everything you need to know.

Both sets were closed out in 4 sets.

In the first semi the last remaining seed in the top half, Bossdrum went out to the unseeded wunderkid Colbert who has really won round the crowds this year with his gutsy performances. 6-3 was the last set score Colbert's place in the final is assured.

In the second semi things went more to plan. The number 8 seed Jimmyhill drawing on all his experience to close out the last set in a clinical manner and without dropping a game. Blueprint though can hold his head high.

Good luck to both players in the final - the early finish means that the final starts GW23.

Cheers Knulpuk!

Good going, Colbert. Good luck both for the final. Great comp - shame I went out early doors again after opening a 2 set lead. Woldn't have survived any further i don't think. Been a weird season.

The Final - Set 1

The Centre court is full to rafters - though a respectful hush descended as these gladiators bowed to the Royal Box and began the knock up. As is often the case the first set was a cagey affair with neither player wanting to gamble to early on.

Colbert's played to his strengths - putting a lot of faith in his captain and that faith caused his first serves to be around 85% as a result of Tevez's haul. Jimmy Hill had both Tevez and RVP up front and surely captaining these would have won him the set - his decision to captain Fabregas saw his attempts to come into the net met with some fierce passing shots.

The upshot? - Set 1 to Colbert - 7-5. This could go all the way to 5 sets - what a feast of tennis awaits....

Another closely matched final. Bet you loved it when you realised both of your excellently run side comp finals were on at the same tie, eh Knul? Great work though. You have done a great of job of keeping the updates going, even when thousands of miles away sunning your toned torso

In an unprecedented move the Wimbledon committee has sacked the umpire after the first set following a spate of dodgy cally and general rubbishness - the new umpire looks like he may pay a bit more attention. The old umpire is getting turned over in the hospitality tent.

Because its the final I have taken away the checks and balances thing as "you cannot make a mistake with 2 teams" how wrong I was  1000% apologies - Jimmyhill is quite correct.

First set to him - sorry both.

The Final - Second set

Move over the Ozzy open!

Right - no mistakes this week - the second set going to Colbert! Joke - Jiimmyhill makes no mistake - another solid performance but it was unforced errors by Colbert that saw him lose the set. Not choosing Rooney saw him repeatedly put his returns long and wide.

Jimmyhill on the other hand plumped for Berbatov and on such things games of tennis are won.

Both players chose to captain Nani.

Colbert has called the physio on, he has taken a comfort break and has a towel over his head. Jimmyhill has changed his shirt and has bounced back to the court to receive the first serve. Can he close it out or can Colbert get a set back, two sets back and we would have a final over the big GW27.

Now that is something the crowds would love.

Good luck in the third set.

The Final - The Winner!

Well what a 3rd set - the two teams could not be separated - and at 6-6 all the players knuckled down to a tie-break. Colbert chose to Wildcard - whereas JimmyHill made just the one transfer - and that single transfer means that we have a result.

In straight sets, I can announce that the FISO FPL Wimbledon Champion 2010 is, the Number 8 seed....:

Jimmyhill

Jimmyhills name is being etched on to the trophy as we speak. He joins the other past winner Spencer4 on that illustrious trophy. Commiserations to Colbert who can hold his head high. Thanks to both finalists for posting and showing an interest throughout - which goes to all participants. Until 2011....
