FPL Pontoon

Example below

The aim of the game is to be the first person to hit exactly 21 points

Pick a player each Gameweek and the scores are added together each week

The first person to hit 21 points exactly wins the game

If you go over 21 points you are 'bust' and start again next week with zero points

If more than one person hits 21 at the same time - the team with the highest FPL score that week wins (if still a tie: countback)

Once a game has been won, everyones points are reset to zero and the next game begins

I will keep the stats in the second post, and will update the thread title with info on when games are open and shut

You can change your mind as many times as you like, the deadline for choosing a player is the same as the Gameweek deadline - but if you could quote your older choice when changing a player that will be helpful

Once a game has started - no more new entries until the next game

You must declare entry for each new game - anyone from a previous game will not automatically be carried over

If you fail to choose a player in between Gameweeks, your choice for the previous week will rollover

If your player scores a negative score, this is taken off your total - but you cannot go below zero on your overall score

YOU CAN PICK ANY PLAYER FROM THE FPL LIST, THEY DO NOT HAVE TO BE IN YOUR TEAM. No captain rule in this game.

First time running this game, so may need to tweak rules - keep an eye on thread title for updates

EXAMPLE 1

GW4 - Malouda 16 pts | TOTAL=16pts
GW5 - Sagna 4 pts | TOTAL=20pts
GW6 - Ilunga 1pt | TOTAL=21pts 8-) PONTOON

EXAMPLE 2

GW12 - Torres 19pts | TOTAL=19pts
GW13 - Ivanovic (does not play) | TOTAL=19pts
GW14 - Ivanovic 6pts | TOTAL=25pts :( BUST

Great idea this one, can't believe no-one thought of this before. Are you going to disqualify people who score less than 1pt?

Ok, just thought it gave an advantage if you scored negative points one week with no winner - less likely to go bust the next week - was looking at the scenario of being on 20pts - not only less likely to pick a player who'll start a game but if you get -1 and no-one wins you have a better chance of scoring 2pts than 1pt the following week.

ahh good thinkin Eagle

i'll edit the rules accordingly to clarify. negative scores are taken off your overall score, but you cannot go below zero on the total points

A couple of possible rules to consider ?

Pontoon has a max. of 5 cards ? therefore each 'game' lasts 5 GW's

Banker pays out on 21 (10pts), 20 (7pts), 19 (4pts), 18 (1pt)& a 5 card trick (10 pts + 10 point bonus for 21)? Bust = -10pts

35 gameweeks left so 7 'hands' to be dealt. ? Most points wins ?

You must have a new 'card' (player) each week - ie you can't select the same player twice in 5 GW's ?

If a player scores 1 point (An Ace) can it count as 1 or 11 ?

Would scores above 10 be classified as a 'picture card' & count as 10 ?

A default card (player selected at random) is turned up by the banker prior to the GW starting and is dealt to anyone who has not chosen to stick or has just plain forgotten to enter. ?

I'm in btw

GW4 - AKNel1 - Malouda

Some good rules there :D

It makes me feel a little rude by not adding them, but the idea behind it was kinda like the pontoon game they used to play in the papers with football teams goals scored each week if you remember that?

And also wanted to keep it to absolute minimal upkeep! But thanks for the ideas - worth consideration if the game needs freshening up. Could even use them for a season finale.....
