Gameweek 9 Update

Scotland 50 : 51 Nordic

Nordic are on fire at the minute and claim another scalp from the Scots, who have also been playing well of late. It was a good game between two teams who were going for it, but Nordic just had the edge and make this their 4th game unbeaten. Scotland looked to have more of the play, but defensive errors cost them. Latic is one of the form players for Scotland right now, and has been consistent all season. Abumies, another stalwart at the heart of the Nordic teams, didn't have the best game of his life, but he'll be happy to have done enough to help secure the victiry. MOTM for Scotland - Latic (62).

Top Five

    1. Scotland - Latic (62)
    2. Scotland - phantomscythe (58)
    3. Scotland - SpartaBhoy (58)
    4. Scotland - Maureenho (56)
    5. Nordic - Abumies (55)

Ireland 48 : 50 London & HC

Ireland are in freefall with four defeats in a row, and London & HC truly took advantage here with a very comfortable win that sees them pulling in some good results of late. London & HC enjoyed near total domination, and Pete Tabs came back into the squad after a hiatus due to a lack of conviction in training. He looked a revitalised man today, inspiring London & HC to an emphatic win. Ireland just couldn't compete, and were poor all over. MOTM for London & HC - Pete Tabs (64).

Top Five

    1. London & HC - Pete Tabs (64)
    2. London & HC - mp3duck (62)
    3. London & HC - The Drog's Ballacks (57)
    4. London & HC - troytown (57)
    5. London & HC - Dronning Maud Land (57)

Yorkshire 49 : 47 Anglia

Anglia finally got their just desserts, as yet another poor showing resulted in the punishment it deserved. This will be a real boost for Yorskhire as they've started to fade recently, but a win over one of the top sides will lift their heads and remind them of just what they are capable of. Mr. Reliable, RichH6109, was the catalyst behind a Yorkshire win today, and he'll be glad to see the rest of the team pick themselves up and follow his example. Anglia's new boy, topcat24, gave an impressive debut performance, and the fans will be delighted with the new signing already. MOTM for Yorkshire - RichH6109 (59).

Top Five

    1. Yorkshire - RichH6109 (59)
    2. Anglia - topcat24 (55)
    3. Yorkshire - Shaggy365 (54)
    4. Anglia - Jonathan (53)
    5. Anglia - blahblah (52)

Asia 49 : 51 Oceania

Asia looked unbeatable at the beginning of the season, but they don't seem to take a defeat too well. The shock result of the week saw the league's bottom feeders turn them over in a remarkable reversal of fortune. That's two defeats on the trot for Asia now, but they still hover near the top. Oceania might just have turned a corner, seemingly inspires by new blood in the form of radiolasvegas and tedbull. Radiolasvegas was outstanding for Oceania this week, showing the rest of the team how it should be done. aamirjaved hasn't had the best of luck this season, but had a great game today, which is more than can be said for some of his team mates. MOTM for Oceania - radiolasvegas (66).

Top Five

    1. Oceania - radiolasvegas (66)
    2. Oceania - aussiegunner (60)
    3. Asia - aamirjaved (59)
    4. Oceania - liverlittle (56)
    5. Asia UmExcuseMe (56)

Northwest 48 : 50 Lancashire

The fixture computer certainly hasn't been kind to the Northwest team, and a run of tricky games has resulted in a real slump in form. Lancashire, however, continue to motor their way through the rest of the league with consummate ease, and they now have a three point lead at the top of the table. Who'd have though it? Strong cadidates to take the league with this form, having only dropped points in two games from nine. Entrusted Machine played well for Northwest, and he's proved vital to Northwest's successes in the past. It wasn't enough today, as the back line proved to be porous. hifromsiriam has drawn attention at several times this season, and his remarkable season has been integral to Lancashire's great run. MOTM for Northwest - Entrusted Machine (59).

Top Five

    1. Northwest - Entrusted Machine (59)
    2. Lancashire - hifromsiriam (55)
    3. Lancashire - ANGRY ALIEN (54)
    4. Northwest - Mintman (52)
    5. Northwest - Green Peace (52)

Wales 50 : 51 Southwest

Another of the great games this week, and I'm somewhat suprised that Wales managed to lose this one. Credit to Southwest though, as they've been in for some critcism recently due to some substandard results, yet they've rolled up their sleeves and really shown what they're made of. Wales winning run of three games on the trot comes to an end, and Soutwest make this their second. Nedved_Cannon has been at the heart of the Wales revival, and showed some lovely skills in todays game. He was only outdone my maradonna_is_god at the other end, who ended a real drought with a world class performance. MOTM for Southwest - maradonna_is_god (67).

Top Five

    1. Southwest - maradonna_is_god (67) *PLAYER OF THE WEEK*
    2. Wales - Nedved_Cannon (62)
    3. Southwest - ashers1981 (60)
    4. Wales - bonsey (59)
    5. Southwest - Richt (54)

Middle East 44 : 48 Meridian

What can I say about Middle East? Nothing that hasn't already been said. They know their problems, and it lies in the depth of the squad. They looked like a tight unit capable of beating all comers at the start of the season, but a few injury problems and they've come unstuck. Merdian must be thanking the stars that they've managed to get a win here, as they were pretty poor in fairness. They'll take it though, but they'll have to do much better if they fancy finishing near the top. DanCaek was the best of the bunch for Merdian, whilst Middle East failed to impress at all. MOTM for Meridian - DanCaek (56).

Top Five

    1. Meridian - DanCaek (56)
    2. Meridian - dazedandconfused (55)
    3. Meridian - acrascall (53)
    4. Meridian - Spencer4 (52)
    5. Meridian - jeffersdn (51)

Midlands 48 : 48 Americas

If I ever have anything good to say about the Midland's defence I'll probably have been on the booze all day and talking shite. Midlands should have won this game against a poor Americas side, but, as usual, all their good attacking play was completely undone by a myriad of blunders at the other end. At least they've managed to pick up a point, and despite expecting to have won the game, I can't see the Americas being too upset at a point considering how they played. Brimar's name has popped up before, and I've said they'll need him playing well if they are to get any points. How true that proved today. top4nash is a new recruit for the Americas, and a solid debut will hopefully be a springboard to better things in the future. MOTM for Midlands - brimar (60).

Top Five

    1. Midlands - brimar (60)
    2. Midlands - TheTon (59)
    3. Midlands - VillaProud (59)
    4. Midlands - SUZYKINS (58)
    5. Americas - tom4nash (58)

Excellent. Contributed to a rare Oceania win on debut. I can feel a Sunderland promotion-season style revival coming on...

Gameweek 10 Update

Image

London & HC 58 : 56 Scotland

Predicted a draw here with both teams in similar form, but Scotland have started to slide a bit now, allowing London & HC to make this their third successiive win. The game was fairly close, and unspectacular as a result, with Scotland being outdone due to some woeful finishing from certain members. Latic continues to graft in the middle of the park for Scotland, but all his industry today couldn't save Scotland from defeat. MOTM for Scotland - Latic.

Top Five

    1. Scotland - Latic (73)
    2. London & HC - jbailey (69)
    3. Scotland - Arabian Knight (67)
    4. London & HC - mp3duck (67)
    5. London & HC - Flat Track Bully (66)

Anglia 59 : 57 Nordic

Rather than get on top of their problems before they became an issue, Anglia decided to wait until they got beat until they'd do anything about their awful performances. Pushed into a reaction, they've came out and proved this pundit wrong with a strong win over a Nordic side that no one would be comfortable playing at the moment. Papa Giddy has been conspicuous by his absence in the last few games, but he's rallied the team today with a commanding performance. MOTM for Anglia - Papa Giddy.

Top Five

    1. Anglia - Papa Giddy (68)
    2. Anglia - WHATEVER (65)
    3. Nordic - Remember the Titans (62)
    4. Anglia - keithy007 (59)
    5. Anglia - Jonathan (58)

Oceania 57 : 58 Ireland

Irleand seem to have got fed up being criticised every week, and raised their game just enough to spoil any hopes pf Oceania's campaign taking a turn for the better. Still, this was a fairly poor performance from either team, not entirely befitting of clubs in this league. Could this result be the catalyst for some more favourable Irish results? Not unless they play the likes of Oceania every week. Irish fans were asking each other, "who the eff is that?", as Trickster1 took to the field, despite being a long standing player. They won't be forgetting his name after today though. MOTM for Ireland - Trickster1.

Top Five

    1. Ireland - Trickster1 (78)
    2. Oceania - tedbull (75)
    3. Ireland - clonmullin (71)
    4. Oceania - liverlittle (70)
    5. Ireland - alwaysonthebeer (68)

Lancashire 56 : 53 Yorkshire

This was billed as the game of the week, but turned out to be one to forget. As happens so often when the big teams collide, the action just does not live up to the hype, and entertainment gives way to tacticts. Yorkshire weren't given much of a chance against the league leaders, and they appeared to crack under the pressure. Lancashire weren't at their best, but they'd beat most teams on an average days. dave t inspired Lancashire to a win today, and this boy loves to get stuck in and dig a win out for his team whenever it's required. MOTM for Lancashire - dave t.

Top Five

    1. Lancashire - dave t (62)
    2. Yorkshire - Golden Bear (61)
    3. Yorkshire - RichH6106 (59)
    4. Yorkshire - Indy_Bones (56)
    5. Yorkshire - Aardvark (56)

Southwest 54 : 61 Asia

Another team under fire of late, Asia had to stop the rot of two defeats in a row. When questioned on how they'd handle defeat, they answered with the brutal slaying of the hapless Southwesterners. In a day of pure dominance, there could only have one winner. New boy, aamirjaved, shows for the second week in a row why the Asian manager splashed out millions to bring him to the club, with yet another display of pure class. MOTM for Asia - aamirjaved.

Top Five

    1. Asia - aamirjaved (70)
    2. Asia - Hope Agents (69)
    3. Asia - UmExcuseMe (66)
    4. Asia - baganboy (64)
    5. Asia - plasticninja (60)

Meridian 61 : 60 Northwest

A draw was predicted here, and neither of these teams was prepared to accept it. Fireworks from start to finish, the goals poured in, with Meridian taking the lead minutes from time after a frantic goal line stramash from a late corner. Devoid of confidence, Northwest cannot buy a win right nowm whilst Meridian now sit two points away from the "big 4" position they so crave. Sporadic is a word that could be used to describe AKNel1, but then again so is genius. Meridian need to harness this boy's talents and have him focus like this every week. If they can, who's to say they can't reach the top? MOTM for Meridian - AKNel1.

Top Five

    1. Meridian - AKNel1 (81) *** PLAYER OF THE WEEK ***
    2. Northwest - moonlightdribbler (78)
    3. Meridian - BravoT (71)
    4. Meridian - mongo (69)
    5. Meridian - Seagull Shooters (64)

Americas 59 : 55 Wales

Wales went into this game with the better form, and should really have taken the game on paper. Forget about what it says on paper though, because if you don't say it on the pitch you'll come away with nothing. Americas took the game to Wales, and they were stopped in their tracks completely. Chotasahib was cited as the team's start player, but has been disappointing this season, getting nowhere near last year's heights. He's worked hard in training though, and looks sharp now. MOTM for Americas - chotasahib.

Top Five

    1. Americas - chotasahib (73)
    2. Wales - uncle onion (70)
    3. Americas - SunderlandFan (70)
    4. Americas - IndEleven (65)
    5. Americas - Graham MSHA (62)

Midlands 59 : 53 Middle East

Midlands have no right being in the position they're in when you look at their goal difference compared to those around them, an indicator of just how unlucky they have been. A strong performance today saw of Middle East who have faded beyond all recognition. Midlands could have been most teams today, and anyone could beat Middle East right now. Expect to see a change at the foot of the table in the coming weeks unless something drastic happens. fil16 takes the plaudits in a good team performance by Midlands today. A few more like this and Midlands could be waving goodby to the bottom. MOTM for Midlands - fil16

Top Five

    1. Midlands - fil16 (77)
    2. Midlands - curlycov (75)
    3. Midlands - AdAm_LuFc (70)
    4. Midlands - gazwood (70)
    5. Midlands - TheTon (67)

Scotland 70 : 73 Anglia

A good high scoring game where Anglia flexed their muscles and forgot all about previous poorness. Scotland played well again, but have hit a sticky spot thanks to opposition playing out of their skin. MOTM for Scotland - SpartaBhoy

Top Five:

    1. Scotland - SpartaBhoy (95) ***PLAYER OF THE WEEK***
    2. Scotland - fisoadms (89)
    3. Anglia - Jonathan (88)
    4. Anglia - shaunyp (83)
    5. Anglia - WHATEVER (80)

London & HC 70 : 70 Oceania

London & HC have strung an impressive run together, and are an exemplar of how big teams can play well. Oceania are getting the hang of things, now and a few more performances like this will see them good. MOTM for Oceania - Dram

Top Five:

    1. Oceania - Dram (92)
    2. London & HC - troytown (92)
    3. London & HC - pericar (89)
    4. Oceania - tedbull (88)
    5. London & HC - kashdayz (86)

Nordic 74 : 67 Lancashire

Game of the week! I've been praising both of these teams recently, and despite knowing what they can be capable of, I'd never have expected Norid to turn over Lancashire. A one sided affair, Lancashire were just blown away by the Nordic team, who are all hitting form at the right time. MOTM for Nordic - Remember the Titans

Top Five:

    1. Nordic - Remember the Titans (81)
    2. Nordic - Pallivaha FC (80)
    3. Lancashire - dave t (79)
    4. Nordic - Cliffard (77)
    5. Nordic - Abumies (71)

Ireland 68 : 71 Southwest

Ireland continue to struggle, and couldn't build on a win last week. Southwest are picking up points here and there, and shouldn't be underestimated in any week. MOTM for Ireland - alwaysonthebeer

Top Five:

    1. Ireland - alwaysonthebeer (84)
    2. Southwest - TheMightyTorres (82)
    3. Ireland - IRISHBLUE101 (81)
    4. Ireland - Trickster1 (78)
    5. Southwest - maradonna_is_god (75)

Yorkshire 67 : 70 Meridian

Meridian will be beaming as they make this three games on the trot, against a side that looked like real contenders at one point. Yorkshire continue to flop, finding themselves near the bottom of the table. It can't just have been luck at the star of the season, can it? MOTM for Meridian - jeffersdn

Top Five:

    1. Meridian - jeffersdn (81)
    2. Meridian - Seagull Shooters (81)
    3. Yorkshire - primitive man (78)
    4. Meridian - Knulpuk (78)
    5. Yorkshire - RichH6109 (74)

Asia 68 : 63 Americas

Not a classic from the Asians, but a win sees them take joint top. The Americas were woeful despite some good individual performances. I'd normally expect a bit more from both teams. MOTM for Asia - baganboy

Top Five:

    1. Asia - baganboy (83)
    2. Americas - Led Red (80)
    3. Asia - Hope Agents (80)
    4. Asia - UmExcuseMe (79)
    5. Americas - TS74 (76)

Northwest 71 : 70 Midlands

Northwest have been flagging recently, but a timely win keeps them within spitting distance at the top. Midlands lose out by the smallest of margins yet again, and affirms my belief that they are the unluckiest team in the league this season. MOTM for Midlands - leehweb

Top Five:

    1. Midlands - leehweb (86)
    2. Northwest - moonlightdribbler (85)
    3. Midlands - Brumigem (84)
    4. Midlands - spinynorman (84)
    5. Midlands - curlycov (80)

Wales 71 : 65 Middle East

Turn up, capitulate, go home. Seems to be the gameplan for the Middle East at the moment, and their opponents are always happy to take advantage. Wales certainly went about the game professionaly and left with a good win. MOTM for Wales - stevied76

Top Five:

    1. Wales - stevied76 (90)
    2. Wales - bonsey (84)
    3. Wales - jags (79)
    4. Wales - grob (79)
    5. Middle East - Ironfist (74)

6 plays 7 in what could be a crucial game. Can Meridian make it 4 games in a row??

No closing date, so just add yourself into the league to take part.

I've had this in a text file in my documents folder for two weeks, thinking I'd already posted it

Gameweek 12 Update

Oceania 57 : 57 Scotland

Resurgent Oceania do their best to ruffle a few Scottish feathers, but the Scots do enough to hold on for a draw. Both team are stuck in the myre at the moment, and neither willl be too disappointed at coming away with something.

Top Five

    Oceania - Rafalution (73)
    Oceania - choppers champions (69)
    Scotland - AldoMcFaldo (69)
Oceania - Stoke City to win (68)
Scotland - Five long bones (68)

Lancashire 51 : 56 Anglia

Two defeats on the trot for young pretenders, Lancashire, and they've now lost their foothold at the top of the table to favourites, Anglia. Anglia have fought back from a period of dodginess, and the true test for Lancashire will be whether they can do the same. It's certainly keeping things interesting at the top.

Top Five

    Meridian - WHATEVER (68)
    Meridian - flyingkillercob (66)
    Lancashire - vinnyutd6899 (60)
    Meridian - blahblah (60)
    Meridian - Jonathan (60)

Southwest 57 : 56 London & HC

Southwest pull yet another win out of the bag with the most slender of margins. They find themselves sitting comfortable in the middle of the table with the rest of the main pack that are battling just behind the leaders. London & HC find themselves in the same pack, and it's results like these keeping them out of the mix at the top.

Top Five

    London & HC - amg (74)
    Southwest - Colbert (70)
    London & HC - troytown (66)
    London & HC - hammerddh (66)
    Southwest - SgB (65)

Meridian 56 : 66 Nordic

Firing on all cylinders, every team in the league is soiling their pants at the prospect of facing team Nordic at the moment. Meridian were spanked off the park today by a team that had them running in circles all game. They shouldn't be too upset, as they were unbeatable by anyone today.

Top Five

    Meridian - Krispy (71)
    Nordic - Abumies (68)
    Nordic - Cliffard (68)
Nordic - Remember the Titans (68)
    Meridian - Spencer4 (63)

Americas 57 : 57 Ireland

The most predictable of results from two sides struggling to get any kind of run together. Americas have been sloppy of late and need to knuckle down to get some wins. Ireland of capable of more, but there's unrest and a lack of interest in the team by some.

Top Five

Ireland - Trickster1 (77) ***PLAYER OF THE WEEK***
    Americas - Le Red (68)
    Ireland - The Best! Arou-ound! (68)
    Americas - cincirollers (67)
    Americas - SunderlandFan (65)

Midlands 57 : 57 Yorkshire

What's happened to Yorkshire? Their flash in the pan is over, that's what. Midlands should have beaten them today, controlling much of the play for 90 minutes, but failing to find that winning touch. If Midlands could buy a new back line, they'd be fine, but they can't, so they won't. Yorkshire seem to have confidence issues, but some wins might solve that.

Top Five

    Midlands - Muld (73)
Midlands - BCFC KINGS OF EUROPE (72)
    Midlands - Ballstrokers (69)
    Yorkshire - Aardvark (69)
    Midlands - Clarkes Sparkes (68)

Middle East 61 : 62 Asia

You have to admire the plucky Middle East boys, as you'd expect them to have been used as loo roll by the Asians this weekend. That wasn't the story as they came within inches of the win they need so badly. Battling till the very end, it was only the Asians experience that gave them the edge, and they'll be breathing a sigh of relief. Still fight in the Middle Easterns yet, and Asia assert their class at the top of the table.

Top Five

    Asia - baganboy (71)
    Middle East - Ironfist (68)
    Asia - kengster (68)
    Asia - plasticninja (66)
    Asia - UmExcuseMe (63)

Wales 56 : 56 Northwest

Wales battled hard against a Northwest side trying to prove they can still cut it at the top. It wasn't a great game at all, and a draw was the fairest result. Both teams continue on a two game unbeaten run, and they'll be happy with that.

Top Five

    Northwest - marktheking (67)
    Wales - bonsey (64)
    Wales - stevied76 (64)
    Wales - uncle onion (63)
Wales - Wenger Boys FC (63)

Updates will be on hold until further notice, as I'm changing my phone and broadband provider and currently have neither available at home :x

I'll catch up the whole lot at once when I get internet back, which I'm hoping is this week, otherwise I'll end up going crazy.

Best of luck doing that in the middle of the season, Maureenho ! After Shaggy365 outlined on the SKY FF thread his experience of doing so recently,it confirmed my view that anyone playing FF would be wise to switch off season !

Iirc,Sky wouldn't allow him access to the Sky FF Fiso ML of which he's the League Admin, refusing to accept his new ISP id !
