Week 29 Fixtures

Chelsea v Aston Villa

Great game in prospect as the new force take on the old. Chelsea are unbeaten and have a League Cup Semi-Final appearance this week. Mr Maniac is drafted in to replace mkc. Villa bench Stick and bring in TheTon as they hope to move up from mid-table...prediction 2-1

Crystal Palace v Arsenal

Palace have hit the buffers, losing poorly to both Leeds and Newcastle in past weeks and I doubt they'll be able to beat the new league-leaders. They try their third captain of the season in jn77. Arsenal, like Chelsea are unbeaten and have the cup to look forward to. DixieDean is replaced by Arsh287...Prediction 0-2

Derby v Rangers

Derby are one point off the bottom but Rangers are now on the move up the table. Both teams unchanged, unlikely Rangers will slip up...Prediction 1-2

Hull v Brighton

Hull are a bit up and down, they were pretty poor last week while Brighton put on their best performance of the season. Hull make one change bringing in shm247 for perivar. Prediction 1-1

Leeds v Man Utd

Both these teams are playing poorly. Home advantage could help Leeds but it's hard to see many goals here. Leeds welcome back Surprised and GM, United bring in bert. and Owen10...Prediction 1-1

Liverpool v Nottingham Forest

Liverpool find themselves in last place, and this has all the looks of a 6 pointer with Forest in 17th. Grob and gchappie return for the home side. Prediction 0-0

Newcastle v Ipswich

Two teams trying desperately not to lose their grip on the season. Ipswich only have 2 points from the last two games and bring back WHATEVER for the out of form Jim Royal. Newcastle have crowd-favourite LooneyToons back...Prediction 2-1

Southampton v Everton

7th plays 4th. There was not much Southampton could do last week against the power of Portsmouth but this week they'll have a better chance of overtaking Everton. Home advantage will help and Everton have been getting lucky lately. djnuttie returns for the suspended Scottoffee...Prediction 2-1

Tottenham v Portsmouth

Tottenham look to their ranks of juniors as they attempt to strengthen their squad. In comes count from the reserves after impressing recently. Not impressing recently, jeffersdn, drops to the bench with blueprint, bagpuss comes in. Portsmouth are in awesome form, top scorers and have a true superstar in Droning Maud Land. This could be tough for Spurs...Prediction 1-3

West Ham Utd v Stoke

West Ham are delighting their new owners. Sitting in 5th place and with a place in the Cup semi-finals, they have a player in form in Hammered and will take all the beating here. Stoke are a shadow of their previous selves. This week Takeshi Kovacs is back, unfit and a liability, but Suzykins is banned and there's no-one else...Prediction 2-0

Week 29 Results

Chelsea 2 - 3 Aston Villa

Inspiring stuff from the Champions as they took the game to Chelsea. Five Long Bones was forced into action early and eventually flapped at one cross too many from gazwood, the ball ending up in the net. Colbert was especially strong in midfield, dominating mr.maniac and scoring a lovely goal himself. Roga and Matty B replied for Chelsea but Spinynorman rounded the keeper to score the winner late on. Ironically Chelsea take over at the top on goal difference...Motm gazwood

Crystal Palace 4 - 2 Arsenal

Big surprise here as Arsenal crumble in South London. Palace were amazing, captain jn77 put on a performance seldom bettered, scoring a hat-trick. Arsenal had no answer though they still played their pretty passing game as usual. zipnolan knocked in a fourth in injury time to loosen Arsenal's grip on the league leadership...Motm jn77

Derby 1 - 1 Rangers

Half price seats had little effect on the attendance, and those staying at home missed little. -DC- brought down Jeffers in the area and he converted well, but Derby grabbed a point when jOnners headed in from cross-range...Motm Jeffers

Hull 2 - 1 Brighton

Hull move into the top half of the table and are only 2 points off the leaders, it's that tight! Good work from Abumies set up Discogod to open the scoring, BravoT replied soon after but Abumies wrapped up the points with a virtuoso second-half goal. Brighton are kept off the bottom only by Liverpool's disgraceful form...Motm Abumies

Leeds 1 - 2 Man Utd

Terrible game, Leeds managing only one shot on goal, which deflected in off the hapless Owen10. United though, showed more creative spirit in the second half and UEM scored twice to confirm their superiority...Motm UEM

Liverpool 1 - 2 Nottingham Forest

This game looked like petering out into a bore-draw after two early goals for either side. Sasquatch converted an early penalty for Liverpool after keithy077 had knocked Krispy to the ground with a ninja kick. jpk100 forced home an equalizer after a goal-mouth scramble and then the game drifted on towards it's inevitable conclusion, until Grob decided to volley a back-pass to the keeper. Own goal. Motm...Shaggy365

Newcastle 2 -2 Ipswich

This was an entertaining game, contested by two teams who have both had fairly good starts to their seasons. A draw was a very fair outcome, Newcastle were solid and kept the ball well, Ipswich were good on the counter, WHATEVER and flyingkillercob particularly good up front...Motm WHATEVER

Southampton 3 - 2 Everton

On a week when many of the top sides slipped up, Southampton have forced themselves back into the picture with this professional win over a good Everton side. DrBunker is playing well at present, his two goals and one from Knulpuk gave them a lift after newb0rn had opening the scoring for the visitors. A late goal from moonlightdrobbler was a blemish but didn't stop the Saints taking the points...Motm DrBunker

Tottenham 3 - 1 Portsmouth

This has to go down as a shock result, Spurs never really in trouble against a strangely tired-looking Portsmouth team. Count's debut was satisfactory but bagpuss was impressive, netting twice in the first half, then setting up his mate Doogal to finally kill off any danger after Knotty got Portsmouth back into it. steve_lee fell over in the mud and had to go for an early shower...Motm bagpuss

West Ham Utd 1 - 1 Stoke

West Ham had every chance of taking over at the top of the league as the led Stoke thanks to a Hammered goal. Unfortunately Mercer decided to throw a huge spanner in the works by handling the ball in his area, thinking the ref had blown the final whistle. He hadn't, Mercer was red carded and the pom levelled from the spot...Motm the pom

A win for Villa at last. The season is still a washout but beating the boys in first shows we can still perform with the best of them. More to come from us, me thinks.

League Cup Semi-Final Leg One Results:

Goals from Roga and Matty B were cancelled out by DanCaek and a late equalizer from gjkendall, Arsenal have to be favoutites now.

At Fratton Park Knotty and Dronning Maud Land opened up a 2 goal lead before Richt replied for the Hammers, though steve-lee's goal in the second half looks to half given Portsmouth an advantage.

Gameweek 30 Fixtures:

Arsenal v West Ham

Game of the week (1) Joint top, London derby, doesn't get any bigger than this. Arsenal bring in Razorback to add sharpness to the attack, while West Ham welcome back mcnegox for the suspended Mercer. Arsenal could find themselves in the Cup Final this week as well...prediction 2-2

Aston Villa v Southampton

Game of the week (2) The battle of the two Champions. 10th place Villa take on joint top Southampton, just three points ahead of them. Both teams are unchanged, little between them on paper...prediction 1-1

Brighton & Hove Albion v Derby County

The game the phrase '6-pointer' was invented for. If either team ends up a loser it could be a serious step in the wrong direction. Liverpool must surely win a game soon, and when they do, one of these two will look favourites for the drop...prediction 2-1

Everton v Leeds

There's a serious sickness in the Leeds camp this week. A contagious virus has swept through the squad, making them easy meat for Everton this week I think. Leeds bring in Greebynog and andybarrell as Everton strengthen their midfield with Scottofee. Face-masks at the ready this won't be pretty...prediction 3-0

Ipswich v Chelsea

Ipswich may be in 8th but they're only a point behind Chelsea. The leaders didn't look up for the fight against Villa last week and if WHATEVER can continue his run of form this could be a home win. amcal59 takes over from 5 long bones in goal as Jim Royal makes a rare appearance from the bench...prediction 3-2

Man Utd v Liverpool

United should be rubbing their hands in glee at the arrival of their great foes. Liverpool are in a sorry state, having won just once this season. They try to plug the gaps in defence by dropping Grob and bringing in Mintman. United, ably led by UEM welcome back Giggs11 and Bob Newhart...prediction 2-0

Nottingham Forest v Crystal Palace

Forest should be going into this match with their spirits high after taking the points at Anfield last week, but the arrival of Palace brings with it a certain sense of trepidation. Palace were awesome in defeating Arsenal and any repeat of that form should be too good for a Forest team lacking real confidence. Forest are unchanged, Palace have nevblake back for the out of sorts Eagle224...prediction 1-2

Portsmouth v Hull

Top scorers Portsmouth play host to free-scoring Hull, goal-feast perhaps. Portsmouth may save themselves for their cup semi-final and Hull could capitalize. they bring back perivar after his fitness problems, Aardvark taking a back-seat...prediction 2-3

Rangers v Newcastle

A short away trip for once as Newcastle bring their own brand of crazy football to the under-performing Jocks. Rangers have pa102aw in their team for the first time in ages, the old boy able to play only rarely these days. Newcastle will hope to inflict more misery on the pre-season favourites...prediction 0-1

Stoke v Tottenham

Tottenham showed more of their attacking style last week against Portsmouth and keep the same team that played so well. Stoke ditch Takeshi Kovacs again, SUZYKINS returning...prediction 1-2

Derby turned up and showed they are meant to stay in this league. Brighton plummet to the foot of the league...Motm penguin17

Everton 1 - 3 Leeds

Leeds pull off another shock...Motm andybarrell

Nerves got to both these teams, Ipswich were poor, Chelsea hopeless...Motm flyingkillercob

At last Liverpool turn it on, against their great rivals. Off the bottom at last...Motm Sasquatch

Forest still in trouble after this easy win for Palace...Motm jn77

Two wins on the bounce for Villa and we're in business.

If we've played 10 with 8 gameweeks to go, how is this going to work?

If you look at the tables in the first post you'll see the seasons have 19 and 18 games. This one has 18.

Week 31 Fixtures

Aston Villa 5 - 4 Everton

The Champions not quite back to their best, but they'll take the three points after a hard-fought victory over Everton. Now in a group of six teams on 19 points, Villa scored two early goals and held on as Everton hit the woodwork in the dying minutes. gazwood and Colbert scoring for the home side, moonlightdribbler replying for the visitors..Motm Colbert

Chelsea 6 - 6 Leeds

This week we played using UEFA's new 120 minute game rule and there were many goals as players filled their boots. No more so than at Stamford Bridge where these two great rivals shared 12 goals! A hat-trick for Matty B and two for mkc0303 looked to have grabbed the points for the home side, but Bandit's great 5-goal spell in the second half took the Motm honours.

Derby 4 - 5 Crystal Palace

Derby are still in trouble at the bottom after this expected defeat. Palace joint second and never really in danger despite conceding 4 late goals...Motm nevblake

Hull 4 - 5 Newcastle

Great game played out between these two mid-table teams. Hull were their usual high-scoring selves, but the class of allwaysonthebeer shone through. He scored a glorious winner after equalizing seconds earlier. Defeat from the jaws of victory for Hull's new manager...Motm allwaysonthebeer

Ipswich Town 6 - 3 Man Utd

Ipswich will not go away. They now have a two point gap at the top and will be hard to dislodge. The visit of United saw them at their very best, great team-work and tactical awareness. Man Utd had no answer, even UEM had a rare off-day...Motm flyingkillercob

Liverpool 6 - 4 Brighton

The battle between the bottom two was won resoundingly by Liverpool. Brighton can see the trap-door opening, this was their seventh defeat and they are now three points adrift. BravoT was particularly disappointing in the Brighton goal, letting through everything that came his way, only Ironfist and fil16 put up any resistance...Motm Mintman

Rangers 5 - 5 Portsmouth

This was Rangers' seventh draw in eleven matches and certainly looked a better performance than many this season. Portsmouth scored freely, but couldn't break clear. This will do them the world of good before their cup final later this week. Dronning Maud Land did his player of the season chances no harm at all with this Motm.

Southampton 6 - 2 Stoke

This was a bit of a slaughter, Southampton are certainly back in the hunt now after a few good results and their goal-difference is second best in the league. The less said about Stoke the better, they are becoming a hard team to like, though SUZYKINS has to be held up as particularly poor today...Motm JD007

Tottenham 3 - 2 Arsenal

The league leaders didn't fancy this derby much. Ashers refused to come out for the second half after someone in the crowd called him a name. Spurs nearly blew it themselves when blueprint got himself sent off, but bagpuss saved the penalty and there was little the outstanding DanCaek could do to get them back into it. Their minds maybe on the cup final, they'll need to be better than this...Motm bagpuss

West Ham Utd 3 - 2 Nottingham Forest

If any team is going to prevent Brighton slipping out of the league it's the awful Forest. They've scored the least goals of any team in the league and have too many players not concentrating on the game. West Ham lost mcnegox to injury but the remaining three were good enough to take the points...Motm freckles.
