Who's fans are the best at FPL? Let's find out...

Following last season's emphatic victory by Southampton.

2008/9 Table:

Image

Rules:

The 20 most popular supported teams are in a league of 20 teams. See if you are included in the list below and let me know if you'd like to be.

Each week one team's supporters will be playing against another, in a four-aside competition.

Each team will have a captain (that player who is leading overall amongst their own supporters). The captain can change each week, but probably won't change much.

The other three players are chosen on the scores obtained in the previous gameweek. So every week it is possible for four completely different teams to be representing their club.

Some clubs only have four supporters, this means they will always represent their clubs, unless there are additions to their supporters.

Scores will be accumulative, so it is not like the 5-a-Side competition.

To make it more realistic :o , there will be a calculation to represent goals scored each week.

The total average gameweek score will be important. All scores obtained by teams will be matched against this average.

For example: If the average was 40 points, that would be multiplied by 4 = 160. Any result between our teams will be important relative to that average score, we will take 160 as the middle point and start out calculations on 15 points either side.

Here's how it works...

If the 4x average score was 160 we would have:

145-175 = 0 goals
176-205 = 1 goal
206-235 = 2 goals
236-265 = 3 goals
266-295 = 4 goals

If the scores of our two teams, let's say Hull and Stoke, were 190 and 155 the score would be 1-0 to Hull.

If the total is under the 15 point low score (ie 144 in this example) it will count as -1 (or actually +1 to the opponent.)

New Rule for 2009/10. Home teams gain 10 points per match.

If anyone wants to join late, they just need to state their club and FPL team link.

Maximum of 8 players per team this season.

Let's look at the clubs in contention and Spurs...

Southampton:

The Champions haven't sat back during the summer, purchasing at great cost the number 4 player in the Universe !@@£E$£@$...JD007. Promoted to captain, he'll only strengthen this already awesome squad. Odds 5/2F

Everton:

Runners-up last year, they've bought in a couple of newbies and it may take time for them to get to know each other. 9/1

Liverpool:

Last year should have been theirs, they top-scored but couldn't get tit right when it mattered. One or two decent performers this year must give them a fighting (calm down...) chance. 11/2

Portsmouth

Last year's fourth place team are a bit of a shambled this year. Two of their team forgot to turn up to training, but they are an experienced team who should yet again give a good show. 6/1

Arsenal

Managed to sell most of their players, though have held on to Razorback their impressive captain. It could be a problem keeping the youngsters in check so I think they'll struggle. 10/1

Aston Villa

Looked to be favourites to win last year before losing their way quite dramatically. A slimmed down version doesn't inspire any confidence. 20/1

Hull

They can't do it again can they? Crazy scenes week in week out as they managed to win far more than they should have. This year they look very poor, with only their loan signing Abumies with any experience at this level. 33/1

Leeds

Depth and experience, this squad have it all. Played better than Southampton last year but just drew too many. This could be their year. 4/1

Man Utd

Hard to know what to think of Man Utd. They have trimmed down their huge squad and have some real experience in there, but they just spend too long looking at themselves in the mirror. 7/1

West Ham

Mid-table team. Unlikely to be as strong as that this time round. 16/1

Man City

You never know with City. One good week then one bad. A new captain in MHiggi could be the answer, we shall see...8/1

Newcastle

Gosh how bad were this lot last year! Just one victory all season ! Can new signing allwaysonthebeer turn things around? Well, it's not promising is it? 16/1

Stoke

They were poor, and they will be poor again. 40/1

Rangers

Scotland's only representatives after Celtic were stripped of their league status. Two wins last year and a serious attitude problem. But they have acquired Jeffers, who looks good on paper. 12/1

Ipswich

Promoted to the top table, they'll be keen to do well. They have got a good squad but could be exposed by any early disappointments. 11/1

Chelsea

They're just not very good at this are they? It's not looking good for them this year. 18/1

Crystal Palace

Struggled on a small budget last year, but may do better as the credit crunch under-mines the wealthier clubs. 12/1

Nottingham Forest

keithy007 turns up from his year at Real Madrid because he 'likes the pies' ! What is that all about? The rest of them are not fit to salt his chips. 14/1

Brighton

How the hell did they get here? On loan signing Ironfist brings years of experience with him but one can't help feeling that this lot are just here to party. They'll lose one goal every game for having an illegal formation. 80/1

Tottenham

bagpuss and RTT could inspire the rest of these, but it looks unlikely. 100/1

Results GW 1:

Aston Villa 1 - 2 Rangers

Solid performance from Villa, but they were unlucky to come up against an impressive Rangers side. MOTM AMc 63.

Chelsea 0 - 1 Hull

Hull pick up where they left off with a narrow but deserved victory. Chelsea just cannot afford to play with one up front and two goalkeepers. amcal59 was a disgrace to the shirt today! MOTM Aardvark 65

Everton 1 - 0 Arsenal

The youth team may have won 1-6 yesterday, but when the real stuff got underway there was only going to be one winner. Everton, brilliantly led by Scottoffee crushed the Gunners with ease. MOTM Scottoffee 72

Ipswich 2 - 1 Man City

Performance of the week goes to the new boys, a huge amount of possession and great play from all, especially shaunyp, star player f the week. MOTM shaunyp 80

Leeds 2 - 0 N Forest

Leeds can afford GM getting cramp and hobbling off at half time. Their other players comfortably superior to the four Forest players. MOTM FlaminGalah 77

Man Utd 1 - 0 Crystal Palace

Palace have nevblake sent off after 15 minutes and couldn't quite hang on. MOTM Bert. 60

Portsmouth 4 - 0 Brighton

Slaughter on the South Coast as the party animals get chewed up by this year's dark horses. Brighton do have a new signing joining so will hope to put this behind them. MOTM Dronning Maud Land 71

Southampton 1 - 0 West Ham

The Champions comfortably beat the Hammers, despite the score-line. MOTM The Saint 63

Stoke 3 - 0 Newcastle

Here we go again. Those Geordies get a good pasting from Stoke, every player dominated. MOTM bossdrum 66

Tottenham 1 - 0 Liverpool

The surprise of the week! Liverpool seem to have a couple of players still on their hols. Spurs, despite a pitiful performance on the wing by Jeffersdn, sneak a win thanks to a captain's performance from Remember The Titans, MOTM with 62

Bring it on. Away at Leeds. Easy fixture to get us off to a good start. Our lack of depth of squad shouldn't worry us too much at this stage of the season.

Unfortunately I can't say too much about Leeds given that it's where I live. Perhaps I shouldn't have painted that big red tree on the roof, just to confuse people landing at Leeds/Bradford airport.

Hull will rock again despite somehow being seen as underdogs this year. Easy away game to Chelsea in the opening week will start things up nicely.

With excellent all-round player like me on-loan from Fulham we are bound to have a top-6 finish this year :P

Nothing in this game for fancy play - its points that count - we win ugly. But we win - c'mon the Saints.

Proud to be the United captain, even if it does only last for a week.

Looks a decent squad for us this year.

Wouldn't mind representing Brighton if they'll let me, could make up the numbers.

Always had a bit of a soft spot for them since they used to run around with SKINT on their shirts

bluelionman is back from suspension and will train with the Crystal Palace mob in preparation for next week.

fil16 has been purchased by Brighton. His playboy image will fit in well with those hedonists! Their one goal penalty will be withdrawn after GW1.

Close call but lost to a decent performance by Rangers. Similar scoring next time should see our first win.

Onwards and upwards. :)

i took this prediction into consideration, and so as captain, took the lads out on the lash, ending the night in the lapdancers and then the curryhouse.....all on the night before our 1st match. obviously did the trick. take that arsenal!

well played toffees!

Oy Mr. Spencer4, :x
The individual scores show clearly a 2-2 draw and even that only because we Gullies are missing one team member, ie 3v4 Portsmouth fans. That's a far cry from the dismal picture you painted hereabove! We can party alright, but can also keep a score while we're at it! :) Please correct, amend and re-tell history!

It looks like we are going with the same lineup in GW2 - On loan blueprint clearly hasn't finished the preseason training yet

Wildcard time it is then! Either that, or no playing time in the Tottenham fans team - at least not before christmas!
