At last we arrive at the final event of a gruelling Olympic Decathlon campaign. Just 4 game weeks remain for someone to knock Sunderlandfan of her perch leading the overall competition.

The 1500m begins with GW34 and below are the all important rules.

Image 1500m
Event 10: GW34, 35, 36, 37

Points: Gameweek Score converted to a time
Time (sec) = 320 - (FactoredPoints/5)

Yep - it's double points for captains in all events except where stated.

First split results for the final event. fil16 and Brightwater have opened a small gap on the pack but it's still all to play for.

Spiny is ranked 36th in the overall standings atm, he just wants to do well enough to make it to the 30th spot and the second page of the ranking.

It's also influenced by the scores I have been getting recently.

The second lap of the 1500m has been completed and fil16 has kept the lead 2 seconds ahead of Le Red with nigel1305 running in third. Overall leader Sunderlandfan is 23rd in a group 9 seconds off the pace.

I'm built for speed not endurance. Daley Thompson was good at all the events except the 1500 cos you can't train for both strength and endurance ;)

Jogging it home... 8-)

3 laps into the race now and as we take the bell fil16 has extended the lead to 5 seconds. Grob, Le Red and RamR are together in a group, with everyone strung out closely behind.

Sunderlandfan continues to enjoy what she hopes will be her victory stroll 15 seconds off the pace in 33rd.

Nigel would have to beat me by 15 seconds and he's not going to do that, plus it looks like i'm having a huge GW so it's all good.

I'm on the podium, I see a union flag being raised and I hear a tinny rendition of God Save the Queen.

Just need that gold medal now...

After a couple of days whilst the drug testing results were analyzed and considered (mine were very positive for alcohol), and while there were a few kickabouts going on around the country, the Jersey Olympic Committee met to ratify the results. Here, my friends, are their findings.......

The 1500m was won comfortably in the end by fil16. He had been in the leading group right from the word go and simply powered away in much the style of a short distance version of Paula Radcliffe (without the public toilet breaks). His time of 4:13 left him 3 seconds clear of nigel1305 who sprinted through to 2nd on the run in just edging out RamR. SunderlandFan was 11 seconds back in 16th.

Overall, however, the top step of the podium is still reserved for SunderlandFan - the American flag is raised to a slightly unusual choice of victory anthem of God Save The Queen, and the coveted gold medal is handed over by a clearly very emotional Michelle Obama - taking time out from her busy schedule of being important and doing errr...stuff.

Nigel1305 fought well throughout and will no doubt have tears welling in his eyes once he recognises the Madagascan flag being raised - a fairly significant amount of dust having to be blown off it first. 79 points was his deficit but he stayed 31 clear of the 3rd place competitor.

The bronze medal is awarded to another American connection as the US Virgin Islands are represented in the FISOlympics with great pride by Brightwater. Points lost in the high jump proved to be decisive, as they were for the silver medallist.

The full times and scores for the 1500m are in the posts below, as are the full final scores for the whole decathlon.

So that brings to a close a highly competetive and exciting FISOlympics. It is only left for me to thank all competitors for their fine spirit and sportsmanship shown throughout. Their patience at the choice of Jersey guest houses used by the Olympic committee is also much appreciated.

As the torch is extinguished once again bringing down the curtain on this sporting feast and the FISO flag is put away for another off-season, we look forward to seeing where the games of the next FISOlympiad take us. Thank you one and all.

Well played Sunderlandfan, Nigel1305 and Brightwater!

Cheers also to Jersey (and Mystery and of course Romyn) for taking over the baton (ooh see what I did there) of the FPL Olympics.

Hope to see the game back in the Summer!

Yup, thanks for running this and for the great write-ups even if I only came a poor 20th.

p.s. I hope the eternal Olympic flame hasn't really been extinguished. ;)

No idea what's been happening, but 27th seems a fair result in this annus horribilis of seasons. Many thanks for all the great work !
