FPL 9-Ball Tournament

The Game:
This game is based on 9-ball pool and will be a knockout head-to-head tournament requiring 16 entrants.
The game is played as if both players are playing 9-ball on tables, side by side, player 1 just ahead of player 2.

I did not quite get the scoring rules to be honest ( i think i must read then when i am not this drunk )
But as long as you maintain the scoring fairly, I can take a shot at this.
FPL afterall and right now am not the worst player around , so yeah ! Bring it on !

There are a few queries about the rules so here is a ficticious game: Potted balls are in brackets after names in this example.

Ball required 1-ball:
Player 1 (): Torres (liv) - Scores 6 pts
Player 2 (): Drogba (che) - Scores 8 pts

Using order of play:
Player 1 pots the 1-ball and gains a 'skill shot' (score >1)
Player 2 pots the 1-ball and gains a 'skill shot' (score >1)
Player 1 pots the 6-ball using their skill shot
Player 2 pots the 8-ball using their skill shot

Next week, both players are on the 2-ball
Player 1 (1,6): Nani (mu) - Scores 2 pts
Player 2 (1,8): Berbatov (mu) - Scores 3 pts

Using order of play:
Player 1 misses the 2-ball (failed to score more than 2)
Player 2 pots the 2-ball and gains a 'skill shot'
Player 1 does not have a skill shot
Player 2 pots the 3-ball

Next week, Player 1 on 2-ball again, Player 2 now on 4-ball
Player 1 (1,6): Nani (mu) scores 4 pts
Player 2 (1,2,3,8): Drogba (che) scores 12 pts

Using order of play:
Player 1 pots the 2-ball and gains a 'skill shot'
Player 2 pots the 4-ball and gains a 'skill shot'
Player 1 pots the 4-ball
Player 2 pots the 7-ball (highest unpotted ball below 12 pts, excluding 9-ball)

Next week, Player 1 on 3-ball, Player 2 on 5-ball
Player 1 (1,2,4,6): Vidic (mu) scores 9 pts
Player 2 (1,2,3,4,7,8): Lampard (che) scores 6 pts

Using order of play:
Player 1 pots the 3-ball and gains a 'skill shot'
Player 2 pots the 5-ball and gains a 'skill shot'
Player 1 pots the 9-ball and wins!

Hope this helps clear a few things up about the scoring.

This does not show a 'free pot' award for 0 pts but I hope you get the idea with that one as it just converts a miss to a pot without awarding a 'skill shot' - ie. only 1 ball will be potted.

So a FPL player scoring 9 wins the game?

And what if both hit 9 at the same time?

I think Eagle said that if both players hit 9 at the same time, then it was the first person to enter their selection for that week.

Not quite. It is the first one to pot the 9-ball using the order of play.

Order of Play:
This is important for the overall scoring - it gives players a chance at a direct pot before any skill shots are applied ...

    Player 1 pot attempt
    Player 2 pot attempt
    Player 1 'Skill Shot' award
    Player 2 'Skill Shot' award

Remember: If players are on the 9-ball, they must score more than 9 to pot it and win.

The game is geared to potting the 9-ball in a skill shot to hopefully speed the games along.

Edit: Sorry if anyone was mislead by reading this before I'd finalised it, I hit submit by mistake when composing this response
