Just been doing some analysis of the fixtures for the top 6 teams, trying to put an number to the difficulty level of each run of fixtures. Basically I took the number of points that the opposition teams had dropped at the respective location (i.e. Home or Away) then adjusted that based on how many points the team in question had picked up per game at home relative to how many they had away, depending on where that fixture would be played.
Whether anyone else will find this useful I dont know but it helped me get my thoughts straight and compare fixtures.
Team..........Standardized score............SD
Arsenel...............100..........................100
Spurs................92.92.......................87.06
Man City.........90.28 (108.68)............47.13 (47.08)
Liverpool........83.24 (90.07)............87.41 (93.43)
Chelsea.............82.83........................70.95
Man Utd............80.69........................70.89
Note that this includes the rescheduled spurs vs everton game but none of the FA cup games. The scored in brackets are if you count the carling cup game between Liverpool and City and expect them to put out strong teams.
I included SD (standard deviation) to gauge how the varied the difficulty of their games are, thinking that a lower SD might make it easier for a team to get a run of form together, but I don't know how much faith I have in that theory.
It will need updating as more games are played, and if anyone is finding it useful let me know and I'll update it when TW3 open. Anyway hopefully it'll give some of you something to think about and be helpful
