FISO TFF/FPL Combo Cup

Hi all

Welcome to the TFF/FPL Combo Cup!!!

The Draw

- I have taken your placings in the overall league as of last week as the basis for each pot to be drawn from.
- I decided to split the league into 4 pots of 8 teams - with the bottom 4 teams out of the 34 playing a qualifier between themselves and the winners making up the final 2 slots in the main 32 teams.
- From each pot, I have randomly drawn the teams into 8 groups of 4. Basically after that, the competition will follow a Champions League style format.

How it works

Group Stage

- As in the Champions League, teams in each group will play each other 'home and away' over a period of 6 TFF gameweeks (see below).
- Based on your combined TFF/FPL points scored in each fixture you will receive 3pts for a win, 1pt for a draw and 0pts for a loss. I doubt we'll get any draws but you never know!!!
- The top 2 from each group will go through to the draw for the 1st Round Knockout Stage.

If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches, the following criteria are applied to determine the rankings:
a) higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the teams in question;
b) superior points difference from the group matches played among the teams in question;
c) higher number of points scored away from home in the group matches played among the teams in question;
d) superior points difference from all group matches played;
e) higher number of points scored;

Fixture Dates (Week commencing)
Week12 - 31/10
Week13 - 04/11
International break
Week15 - 21/11
Week16 - 25/11
Week17 - 05/12
Week18 - 12/12

Knockout Stage - Round 1

- There will be a Christmas break before this starts but the format will be again, like the Champions League. I'll kick this off some time in the new year.
- The winners and runners-up from each group will be split into 2 pots and the fixtures drawn from this. In the CL, teams from the same country are kept apart at this stage but that doesn't exactly mean much on FISO!!! :wink:

- These fixtures will be played over 2 legs spanning 2 consecutive TFF gameweeks.
- These fixtures will be on a pure 'combined points scored' basis - No 3pts for a win etc.
- In the highly unlikely event of a draw after 2 legs have been played then the fixture will go into 'Extra Time' (You will play each other again the following TFF gameweek).
- The winners of each fixture will go into the draw for the Quarter Finals.

- Same format as round 1. Fixtures drawn from 1 pot of 8 teams.

Fixture Dates (Week commencing)

Semi-Finals

- Same 2 legged format again but the fixtures will be based on the following:
Winner of Quarter Final 1 vs Winner of Quarter Final 2
Winner of Quarter Final 3 vs Winner of Quarter Final 4

Fixture Dates (Week commencing)
TBC

Final
- Played over one TFF gameweek.

I'll work out all the TBC dates in the New year and give you all notice.

Spent ages finding a fair way to draw that lot... looks good to me as each league has a fair balance I reckon.

I have the fixtures worked out but I need to decide when we get them played. Hopefully I'll avoid double FPL GWs but if I can't then it's tough titties. :wink:

(Not sure that's a good thing when you're at the bottom of a pot.... :lol:

OK... We'll kick things off this week with the qualifiers which will be over two legs. So the Cup proper will start in Week 12.

I was checking that my spreadsheet was going to work for this comp today and so I thought I'd post a little update on the Qualifiers.

3 more EPL games to go this week and then the second leg is next week...

While I've had the time, I've updated my opening posts on this thread with an outline of how this will work, the group leagues and also a list of the fixtures so you can see who you are playing and when.
I will update this again once the qualifiers are resolved at the end of next week.

If you have any questions or glaring errors that need pointing out then please post here so I've got time to sort them out before we start.

The first leg of the qualifiers is completed...

ethelmoomin has a nice lead over Bluenoseyparker going into next week's second leg but it's pretty tight between penguin17 and Jester.

Looks good Dixie. I see I'm due to play you in another cup. I'll be looking for revenge after my dismall defeat in the EggCup which I ddn't realise had started, well that's my excuse anway.

I'm surprised I got through that tbh, not had the best two weeks in FPL to say the least. TFF form carrying me through.

OK

I've updated the leagues and fixtures to add Jester and ethelmoomin so everything is now ready to roll.

Hopefully my spreadsheet won't implode once I start putting the scores in next week!!! :lol:

I'm off to back it up just in case... :wink:

My first fixture is an away game against Matty B - if we had played each other this week, I would have lost by just over 6pts. :lol:

OK... I've updated the leagues and results in the posts at the top of this thread...

Jeffersdn takes an early lead in the group of death and qualifier Jester gets off to a good start with a win over the top seeded team in Group G.

The next set of fixtures kick off on Wednesday with the West Ham vs Villa game.
