It's that time of the year again & we need to decide which movie, released in the last twelve months, is most deserving of joining the 2008 & 2009 winners of this highly prestigious award 8-) .

Between now & Friday 7th January, feel free to nominate your three favourite movies of 2010 in descending order of quality. Each nominated movie will receive the following points;

1st :arrow: 3
2nd :arrow: 2
3rd :arrow: 1

The ten movies that collectively receive the most points will then entered into the final poll on Saturday 8th December (please feel free to edit your list (if required) between now & then).

Remember that in order to 'qualify' for this award, your movies of choice need to have been released in UK cinemas during 2010 & if you need a bit of assistance in remembering which movies came out this year, I can confirm (off the top of my head :lol: ) that all of the following movies qualify;

Daybreakers
The Road
44 Inch Chest
The Book Of Eli
Up In The Air

Personally I don't think 2010 has been a great year for movies, although I'm sure that there's plenty of hidden gems in the list above, I've certainly felt less motivated to make a trip to the cinema this year due to the apparent lack of quality on offer.

Out of the movies that I've seen, these three represent the best of the bunch;

Inception

Absolutely loved the concepts contained within this movie & the execution of those concepts was pretty damned decent as well.

Kick-Ass

Just a really fun movie containing a superb Adam West impression from Nicolas Cage 8-) .

Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call - New Orleans

If you're a card carrying member of the Nic Cage Appreciation Society then this really is a bit of a 'must see' movie...if you're not a member then you may be better off avoiding this flick altogether :lol: .

Honourable mentions go to following;

Up In The Air
Green Zone
Shutter Island
Jackass 3D
The Losers
Daybreakers
The Road

1. Kick-Ass

Brilliant. Reckon this'll be the winner :wink:

2. Clash of the Titans

Not as good as the original. Still watched it about 8 times tho!

3. Shutter Island

Just about nicks 3rd, but spoilt for choice here

Just missed out
Inception
The Tourist
Due Date
The American
Up In The Air
Little Fokkers (probably gonna lose out in these awards for being too recent)

Not sure I'm qualified as I've only seen three on RB's list!

Anyway, they rank as follows:

1. Inception
2. Deathly Hallows
3. Alice in Wonderland

Toy story 3 because I've got kids and it made me cry like a twelve year old girl.

Strangely, the kids didn't like it. :?

Toy Story 3 should win this hands-down, quite possibly the best of what is quite possibly the best movie trilogy ever. I also really enjoyed Kick-Ass and A Prophet. Small mention for Inception as most overrated movie :P .

Wow. I've seen almost none of the movies on the list. And so given my limited credentials, will go with the following:
1. Kick-Ass
The girl thinking her dad the "best ever" for using low-velocity rounds when shooting her is one of the funniest concepts I've ever seen on film.

2. Zombieland
Shaun of the Dead was much scarier, but Zombieland was funnier. Now one of my all-time favorites.

I'll have to wait on my third pick until I've seen "Inception", "Machete", "The Town", & "Red".

In the meantime, I will agree that "Toy Story" & "Shutter Island" were very good movies, but "Toy" was not as good as the first & I had read "Shutter", meaning I already knew the twist (but LOVED the book). My guess is "Inception" or "Machete" will get my third place vote.

And oh yea - I would probably really enjoy "Let Me In", but consider the original an exceptional film and so am not in any hurry to see the English version (but its in my Netflix queue).

As a film student I spent a lot of time watching old foreign films, etc. but do get out to the odd new release.

1. Winter's Bone

2. A Prophet

3. Revanche

I just loved " the girl with the dragon tattoo", but not sure when it was released 8-)

If thats not last year , i will go for Shutter Island , good story, with clever twist, which makes you watch film a few times

I'm not sure 2010 had 3 good movies, and so for now, I'd rather only vote Kick-Ass (the other two just don't seem "top-3" worthy). I've got Winter's Bone at home and so may add it if I watch it in the next few days and enjoy it. Another 2009 film, "Ink", would have also made my top-3 in 2010 (which is when I watched it).

TGWTDT was released in the UK March 2010 so qualifies, you can also pick a third flick in addition to Shutter Island should you want to...

I will second these, despite not having seen any of them, but I would rather have Pouzar pick me a film..............

As a 4th, not seen Toy Story either, but I expect it to be good - and the fact it gets so many mentions is enough..........

Did I really need to specify in the first post that you need to have actually seen your three favourite movies :?: Guess so :roll: .

A poll has now been added to this thread listing the ten movies that picked up the most points over the last seven days so you've now got another seven days to select your favourite (it would be appreciated if you select something that you've actually seen :roll: :wink: )...
