Hi folks,

I got an email today regarding an e-lottery syndicate scheme.

Do any of you guys use these kind of syndicates? or perhaps you're already part of a work/mates syndicate?

Anyway it got me thinking, it would be interesting to hear what the general consensus is towards forming a FISO lottery syndicate. There are many clever people on FISO and surely between us all, we could devise a strategy that should be able to make an annual profit (with a good chance of it being a decent sized profit). I'd imagine it would be fairly easy to get around 50 people willing to pay upto a fiver a week to join this syndicate if it was likely to prove financially beneficial (perhaps not multi millions ;) but who knows!)

What do people think? just me dreaming? or does it have some potential?

I'd pay good money to anyone who can convince me they can show a profit with any strategy over time on the lottery.

The only clever thing to do is to have some sort of perm involving 7-8-9 numbers with all combinations covered as 3 numbers wins you a lot more than £10 because you have multiple winning tickets.

I am always a bit cautious about such things that arrive in your inbox, but it got me thinking if you had about 50 people in a syndicate paying maybe a fiver a piece, the chances are you should be able to devise a strategy where you get a reasonable (if not decent) return over a period of time.

Yeah I know, but I meant it with regards to the way the numbers are picked.
At the end of the day it's still all down to the luck of the balls, but the way the numbers are selected each week could make it more likely to get a return than just having (for example) 50 random sets of numbers.

The only thing you can do to "win more" on the lottery is to pick more numbers above 31. Less people pick them (dates) so chances are there are fewer jackpot winners if these number come up.

You cant beat statistics, there is no way you can make a steady return off any lottery.

Mmmmm, lets change 14,000,000/1 to 14,000,000/50

As Canary says the only thing you can do is the tactic called 'wheeling' where you pick 1,2,3,4,5,6 and 2,3,4,5,6,7 etc that way if you get a low win on one ticket you get it on all.

I'm not really sure how the scheme is supposed to work, but numbers 1-49 are used each week, then people would each choose another 5 numbers, so effectively just needing 2 numbers to match to start winning.
I think it was probably just clever marketing making the scheme sound better than it really is. A bit more research needed I think.

1,2,3,4,5,6 are the most popular numbers 10,000 1,2,3,4,5,6s are picked every week. And stay away from the numbers in that lost program

well yes, but I used that as a simple example.

Wheeling with higher numbers is perferable.

Also stay away from patterns on the lottery form. Once in the states a lottery was won by numbers that formed a V shape on the coupon. There were hundreds of thousands of winners.

You could perm sets of 2 numbers to cover the higher options

48 49
46 45
44 43
42 41
40 39
38 37
36 35
34 33
32 31

84 trebles

Reduce your groups and calculate as you would any trebles ie 8 groups 56 , 7 35 , 6 20

This combination would ensure any 3 numbers getting a return. You could however have all 6 and get no more than 3 on one card :0)

I used to have a syndicate of 10 people and it was the best way to let everyone pick a number
