FISO 500 super-league ***NEW***

I'm thinking of running a free-to-enter (no prizes, just for fun) TFF mini-league, so am starting this thread to gauge interest.

The main idea is to try help punters improve their TFF skills by getting as high a score as possible, as early as possible, with minimal transfer waste.

Fiso 500 mini-league - Final Rules - free to enter

Entry open until Sept 30th. Similarly, on request, teams (other than disqualified teams) can be removed (by the team's owner) up until the same date, on request.

Multiple entries / player permitted.

Any / all prizes won relating to the league to be divided equally amongst owners of top 5 teams. With multiple entries permitted, managers can therefore theoretically win more than one prize. This includes - for this season only - the Chairman's prize should the flagship team scoop one of the 3 prizes on offer there.

Teams will be disqualified if found to have used more than 5 transfers before December / hitting the magical 500 point mark. Disqualified teams can not be removed.

Teams to remain "public" ie. viewable until December / hitting the 500 point mark, after which, owners can choose whether or not to have their teams viewable and are free to change their minds at any time, as often as they like.

Starting teams to be displayed in this thread before any transfers have been made.

All transfers before December / 500 point mark to be disclosed in this thread. In the interest of getting ahead, entrants can be forgiven for not wishing to post their changes immediately. However, all changes must be posted within 24 hours of the first kick-off of the day the transfers were made. Failure to do so, earns a warning yellow. 2 yellows = a DQ!

Where any such disqualified team occupies a prize-winning placing come the end of the season, any such prize will be forfeited and be won by the next highest ranking team eligible.

In the remote event that the league wins a prize and less than 5 teams remain "un-disqualified", said prizes will be donated to FISO to aid with the forum's upkeep.

Entries limited to 500 teams maximum! (In-keeping with the "500" theme.) ;)

The league administrator reserves the right to reject entry to candidates deemed unsuitable for whatever reason without explanation.

Administrator's (Gurn King 69) decision is final.

Any potential takers?

Let me know in this thread. Ta in advance. Just trying to return something to the FISO community. Must say, would want the comp to be FUN and minimal maintenance. The only "record keeping" would be in this thread.

:)

As interesting as an idea as this may well be and the chances of this ML winning anything being remote, we have these rules regarding situations where the Mini-League Chairman can win a prize.

promotion-of-prize-mini-leagues-t46791.html

Unfortunately you don't fulfil any of the criteria to be allowed to promote such a ML on FISO.

If others believe your idea is worthwhile pursuing then someone that does meet the criteria can set up the ML, hopefully if that is the case then whoever it is will work with you to do so and next season you will be able to run it yourself (if you then meet all the criteria).

Would it change anything if I reveal all my previous FISO ids? ;) ;) ;)

Am cool with that anyway and hopefully - if it takes off - someone else will/can volunteer to be probed by the FISO mods in order to run it.

I'll just take the KUDOS for suggesting it! ;)

8-)

Ps. Obviously, and taking into account that it might just win a TFF ML prize, then payout structures can be finalised at a later date, on the actual setting up of the mini-league (though b4 season starts of course!). Same goes for choice of chairman. (Could go to a public vote if it takes off?)

The thread's just about gauging interest for now.

And finding that holy grail, suitable ML chairman. ;) ;) ;)

It may, if you'd care to pm me with the previous IDs then we'll take it from there.

If there is sufficient interest in this then I will enter a team and create the ML, as long as you manage this thread, promoting, entries, updates etc.

VID, we have a deal! :)

(I've never managed a thread before!!! ;) )

I can't re-iterate enough though that I feel ALL "official" fiso mini-leagues should only be run by the most credible FISO members (read "mods").

So come on FISOITES, "ROLL UP", you know you want to improve your strategy!!! :))

Ps. Vid, you really don't have to submit the ML if you don't wish to be responsible for it. I could collect scores and track everything in EXCEL alternatively.

But to keep it "ALL-inclusive", I suppose randoms can enter "just-for-fun" and pros can enter hoping to receive a cheque from you should glory come its / their way.

You up for being responsible for deciding the dividing of the prize fund (should it be entered, should it win)? An equal 5-way split amongst the top 5 is fine by me if it's fine by you (/everyone)?

Having skipped TFF for a year, and not really having paid much attention to TFF ML rules in the past, I've no idea whether it's the average score (everyone) or the average score (top ones only) that determines the prize winners. If it's the former and it gets randoms then it's hardly likely to compete with other FISO MLs. (Not wishing to be pessimistic / put off the pros, just being honest!)

Final rules to be finalised then…

(Including instant disqualification - especially where fiscal rewards are concerned! - for hares who use more than 3 transfers before the five ton mark? ;) )

Edit: And this is the problem! From the TFF pages, can we identify how many transfers everyone has remaining??? If not, then I'm thinking it's best to not enter it as an ML on tff! And keep it "just for fun".

Anyone know if transfer tracking can be done on the site without revealing teams?

Hmmmm...

EDIT 2: The 3 transfer rule was a top-of-my-bald-head figure. Come to think of it, maybe it should be as many as FIVE???

(Now to hibernate away from the thread for for a day or two to see if this bird can fly!)

ML position is determined by the average of the top 5 teams, so in the unlikely event of this ML winning then equal payment to the top 5 (£200 each) works for me. I have absolutely no problem with creating the league and paying out the winnings at the end of the season (it only takes a few minutes via bank transfer or paypal once funds have cleared and payment details have been received - no cheques!)

As long as everybody follows the Egg Cup/ FISO Open XI template of posting transfers up to the 500 point mark and teams are public for YOU to keep an eye on them then teams can be ejected/ disqualified for exceeding the 3 (or 5) transfer rule as we go along.

Good, good good! :)

So, effectively, I'll have a carte blanche with the admin side of things though you're the ombudsman if you like? I'm happy with that. You'll be "holding the purse" after all!

I'm really torn between whether it should be 3 or 5 transfers. 5 sounds like the going rate for if you're serious about challenging for the £50K main TFF prize but 3 sounds like FUN! To sort the men from the SDTers!

Also, in keeping with the "500" theme, I've decided to restrict the number of entries to 500. Sounds fair to me.

The big crucial sticking point for me is disqualifying anyone who breaks the rules. I think it's best if it's just a case of "if I catch you doing it (ie. with a screencap) then you'll be shown the exit door. Them's the rules."

Similarly - I have to ask again as, again, I didn't enter last year, is there any way to distinguish whether a team is viewable (or not) other than it being clickable (or not)? A screen capture of someone potentially hiding an illegal transfer burn could come in handy (in the worst case scenario of believing someone to be breaking one of the fundamental rules that everyone will have pretty much signed up to)?

Btw, I think I'll pm Murph tomorrow. I know he enjoys his TFF (and gold dust).

I can see this breaking the main Fiso SL's grip on the prizes yet...

One final suggestion to be added to the final rules will be that once December arrives, I think the transfer restriction ought to be lifted (so that desperados still in the low hundreds can begin patching things up!). Other things to consider would be (Vid's) chairman prize. Naturally, that should be distributed amongst the top 5 if successful.

Roll up. Roll up.

What's that saying about good ideas and having to shove them down gannets' throats? Because they're hardly going to steal them? Hmmm...

Well, I'll raise the ante a little by revealing the team I've designed specifically for this competition. I assume all bar one are "nailed-on starters" (Liverpool's Kelly being the risky exception whose inclusion I'm justifying by his nice price).

Whilst I'm certainly not looking for this thread to descend into an RMT farce, I feel I should do this to attempt to garner a little interest. Comments are welcome but then again as only one other (a mod) has posted so far I won't asphyxiate by holding my breath in the meantime.

Should disaster strike and the league never happens, I'll still try to run it in line with my rulings (though I'll probably go easy on disqualifying myself ;)). Final changes will be submitted just before kick off but, without further ado, here it is:

Gurn King's FISO 500

Given 3.0
Vermaelen 4.0
Huth 3.8
Kelly 2.9
Lampard 6.0
van der Vaart 5.5
Arshavin 4.4
N'Zogbia 3.9
Sinclair 3.5
Carroll 6.5
Hernandez 6.3

Playing 352, it comes in at £49.8M

Roll on 500!

Bumping this for Gurn King

All those free credits out there now, any more interest?

Running short of time for debate regarding rules.

GK has entered 7 teams, no idea if he's got anyone else on board as no-one has posted their interest/ intentions on the thread.

He has set up the ML and will pm me and/ or admin his details if requested. With previous IDs he has by far and away exceeded the requirements to chair a prize ML.

So, any takers?

Cheers for the bump Vid and I guess you saved me having to start a thread on my unbridled joy too at getting a surprise on seeing a free credit last night that I have no idea where it came from!

Can not wait for tomorrow...

Assuming I can enter them this evening I have 12 credits left to play (the last one took about 30 mins to get in), I'll stick in 6 based around my Open XI (a change or two in each and different formations), I can't promise to update here promptly but as I'm not to use many transfers early on it shouldn't be too great an inconvenience.

ML details please and I'll try to get them in this evening.

Excellent will pm you after this with the pin.

Think of any rule changes NOW you want enforcing or complain to deaf ears later! ;)

Deadline for finalised rules - kick off tomorrow.

After the next pm, I guess I'll go and make public all my teams then! :D

As all my eggs are now in this one basket Vid (breaking the one team per entrant rule for a start off ;) - and thereby removing this restriction! ), what should that scary  , all-important pre-December transfer restriction be then???

3 5 or 7?

I like primes. :)

As long as it's not your age - all entrants must be aged 18 or over ;) ;) ;)

I like 5 too. 7 would be too close to the going rate and 3 would be too much like hard work in the planning!

So we'll leave it at 5 then.

Will post my teams around 3ish tomorrow (when presumably public teams become visible).

Done and finalised my SDT freebie, now waiting for the Sky homepage to wake up so that I can do my second freebie there.

edit: WEIRD  - your teams are spookily similar to mine (though I have no RVP / Rodellega coverage in TFF - sky / SDT include them). Not to worry, I'm sure they'll deviate at some point. Great minds think alike, eh???

Needn't have bothered eh as you've gone and revealed them to the world here on FISO! ;)

Last bump of the night...

Would just like to declare that with multiple entries now permitted (still only 2 members - it's going to be some game of cat and mouse / chess, this! ;) ), then - in the event of the league miraculously scooping the £1K prize for top mini-league - each place in the top 5 would get the team owner £200 with individual managers able to scoop the lot should they occupy all of the top slots.

Couldn't sleep with that point rattling in my head!

Ps. Anyone in need of the entry details is more than welcome to pm both Vid / me as he too now has the details...

Incredibly early days, with Vid occupying 2 of the top 4 spots and 3 of the bottom 4 spots.

On a personal note, I'm enjoying my best start in years (I have clean sheets and it's not even September!!! ).

I wonder who'll be the first to BLINK!

Will try posting a proper update with full scores on Tuesdayish...

Now now Topspur, you were not exiled, you could not come in (and you know I would have liked to have had you in the league) because you had not posted on the thread (as per league rules) before the season started and I had to be fair to the other 70+ members who had. You know it was your error, so please do not try to bring my superleague into disrepute - that's just is not fair :( .
Good luck in this league though - not a bad looking team overall :)
Cheers

5 teams already in the "ton-up" club with 3 of them being mine (with one more of mine almost certainly to join later today :D ).

Got to say I'm happy with the start and happy to hold off with 7 JAR changes for around a fortnight.

All's good! :D

Dave leads by 1...

edit: Paul, don't forget to declare your Riise removal! ;)
