October Challenge on 85 points and I still fully intend to use all transfers in the month.

Oct 2 is now primed (Stoke block) but only has enough transfers (14) for one more realistic weekly attempt. So if I get clean sheets, I'll probably change the whole team, otherwise I'll consider not making any changes and targeting next week instead.

Regards the main teams, I see my lot struggling today.

So there'll be further drops in the table, I expect.

Gonna have to use more transfers soon. To give them all an injection of form players I missed at season start.

Quite excited. It's the big one, get those transfers in early if you're planning changes.

The damage wasn't that bad (with so few clean sheets helping the cause)!

Vid's getting up a head of steam but is he building a gap? I don't think so! Been v busy playing poker of late (profitably!!! ), so even more to turn my head away from my transfer frittering. I'm a little worried that I won't desire further changes until December now. Not a problem, I guess, so long as the team's motor on.

Barring any injuries I don't see myself using any more transfers before the 500 mark with the top couple and I think the rest can wait until the divisional split, unless a few so far under performers go on scoring sprees of course

The 2 new teams have pretty much the same forward 7 (both playing 3-4-3) though one has a Liverpool block defence and the other an Arsenal one.

Joint lead going into the last game, I went all Stoke and bombed, if I'd included Ba and an assister or gone all Newcastle then I'd have won it, such is life.

And yes, there have been a few entries for the week/ month and it looks like Newcastle are screwing this one up for me already

I had the horrible dilemma Saturday night as to whether to target the weekly prize or the monthly prize with my late entries. My teams suffered in the crossfire of my thinking!

2 which had decent starts (one just under 50, the other just over) got the Stoke / Stoke + Fulham block defence treatment before I went to work on the forward lines. All of the 22 transfers I used were picked as they'll play the first Saturday after the Internationals.

So more "monthly" than "weekly" then. No spurs / Bolton (- haha!) players got picked.

They still made slight gains, but they're useless for this week's prize and I'm not at all confident they'll do well in the monthly.

Should have gone flat out Spurs! (with maybe a touch of Bolton! )

What a day yesterday was!!! Woke up thinking it was Friday, did my 4 Formica transfers and then realised it was Saturday. Panicked a little, as I raced round checking I'd actioned my transfers before the all important time of 12:45 (which I had). After managing to release some funds in those 4 teams, I considered a switch to bring in RVP but just couldn't bring myself to... And then Nasri plays and ends up as some kind of centre forward...



The truth is, with December just days away, I'd been considering that 500 point mark to be the red herring I'd intended it to be. With no prize for being first to make it, I've been considering more and more the fun I intend to have - tinkering with my teams a little on passing the mark - with as little early-season transfer wastage as possible.

And if nothing else, all those Nasri's Formica's have primed my teams for what I intend to do with them soon. Whilst the form of RVP has been phenomenal of late, I do think it's more important to get my teams primed in this way than getting in any specific player. And that includes RVP in red hot form. Only time will tell if I'm exonerated on this one or not, but I'm happy to take my chances on it, all the same.

Can't wait for the surgery-proper to start on my teams (with the first days of December) and then I'll also look into creating some RVP coverage. But now is not the time to panic!

So Vid, now you can make your team "private", any plans on forging a bigger gap with a wee transfer burn (to kill the fight in the teams beneath you) or is it just a case of "more of the same please"?

Given the 4 of my 5 best teams are worse off with transfers than if I'd left them alone, I'm in no rush to burn transfers here. I've made 4 or 5 transfers to each of my "500" teams and probably 1 or 2 in each weren't worth the effort. This has been an interesting experiment so far, taking into account what I've done with other entries has proven to me that I really don't know what I'm doing

I'll leave the team public until December starts, I won't be making any transfers today or tomorrow and probably won't next week either unless there are injuries to higher value players.

Incidentally, I think that's going to be a rule change for next season: that participants aren't allowed to remove their teams (unless they personally persuade the TFF organisers to do it for them). Largely to discourage trolls from posting crap on here with a view to disrupting the league (not saying that was 100% behind your untimely exit, in my view, as I wouldn't wish to give the troll the satisfaction)! Too much chopping and changing can't be good for either party imho.

Good to see the top 11 teams have all breezed past the 500 pt barrier now (even though we've started December before last game week). I'm just relieved it's been a relatively high-scoring season so far!

For the last few weeks, I've been keeping an eye on my average points increase per transfer for my first 7 entries (compared to starting XI scores). Though it took a few weeks to get going, my performance is now roughly +9 / transfer. Going off the rule of thumb of trying to get 10 pts / transfer, needless to say I'm more than happy with 9!

Of course, I'm pretty sure if I'd have used more, it'd be a lot worse than +9!

edit: And this includes the Given / Hernandez replacements which obviously have hardly had time to kick in just yet.
