the plan here is for the winners of groups A-D from the final 64 to play the 4th places from E-H, 2nds from A-D play 3rds from E-H and vice versa.

same rules, 4 votes each, 4 go through, 4 get sent packing, poll runs for 3 days then we will have our final 16 and last 2 group polls before straight knock out.

There was one that was not easy to pick four, and there was one that was very hard to pick four as they were all worthy of the final.

This is by far the toughest group. Of the two best films, Goodfellas and 2001, one will only barely qualify and the other is dead, as is Casablanca. I increasingly fear the World Cup will be one by a popular dud, but i will lose no sleep over it.

Agreed - an excellent group, with some of my all time favourite films. Shame that Space Odyssey is going out, but at least it is losing to worthy competitors.

i am a big kubrick fan and its a bit sad that 2001 is the only one which made the final 32

A final 16 without a Kubrick film is a flawed final 16. As for Casablanca, nothing before 1980 has much of a chance and nothing before 1960 has any chance as a majority of FISOers have probably never seen it.

Looks like I've gone with the majority in this poll, pleased to see all four selections are probably going to make it to the final sixteen...

Strange to see Goodfellas is only (currently) the 4th most popular pick, I've really thought of that as the odds on favourite to win from the very beginning of the MWC :? ...

I hope Shawshank doesn't win, if only because it would be very boring for the Fiso top film to be the same as the IMDB top film. The Godfather could even come second as well. But like I said on another thread, I suspect the IMDB and Fiso demographics are quite similar in some ways, so it's no surprise that our Top 16 list is looking similar to theirs.
