Are we really going to have to choose between these films?

This is going to be a very hard decision.

And I thought I was out of step with about 10 getting through!! Relax Spiny it's just a fun popularity contest. A few great films, Citizen Kane, Taxi Driver, The Godfather, Goodfellas, 2001, got through anyway. I wasn't really expecting any foreign silent films to make it or anything. Sad to see Vertigo and The Searchers not get in. My biggest disappointment was Westerns. The Good, the Bad and The Ugly is an important film, no debate, but nowhere near the best Westerns ever. It is good nihilistic fun, though, so what the Hell.
There are 8 left I have never seen.

Gotta be Godfather I, so much better than Godfather II

I'm surprised that Fargo, Body Heat and The Killing Fields didn't get through - three superb films which I'd have thought would appeal to Fisoers. But I'm not surprised Don't Look Now (too Seventies?), Picnic at Hanging Rock (too obscure?), Mulholland Drive (too bonkers?), The Sound of Music (too soppy?) and Snow White (extremely tough competition in animation) didn't, even though they should have IMO.

21 of my nominations got through, which is nice. There again, I nominated 125 different films, so maybe that's not such a good return after all :?

16 of the above I haven't seen - about half of which I wouldn't particularly want to see, but there are half a dozen or so I'll make a point of seeing when I can.

All in all, it's a very good list. The next round of voting is going to be tough ...

I like a good film, and obviously a popular one too... I've seen all but one  - or maybe two, because all the Bruce Lee films look the same to me, so I am not 100% sure if I have seen Enter - sorry for the Martial Arts afficionados out there.

I think I got about 25 nominations through - so perhaps I am the lowest common denominator - though there are a few sections where I had none get through.

You're right about Bruce Lee films all looking the same - and I write as someone who likes them.

You've obviously seen a lot of films, and across all genres. I'd be interested to see a list of your favourites - why not post one?

Of the 64 I've not seen -

The Dark Knight - Really must get round to seeing this sometime soon.
My Left Foot
Bladerunner - Vaguely recall half watching it years ago. Would like to see it again properly.
The Blues Brothers
The Great Escape - seen bits on TV at Xmas etc but never sat down and watched the whole thing.
City of God - never heard of it
The Third Man
Citizen Kane
Donnie Darko - sounds interesting so might try and catch this next time its on TV.

Overall I think its a pretty good list that includes quite a few of my favourites.

I haven't seen Leon, Donnie Darko or Pan's Labyrinth, but would like to.
I haven't seen The Omen, Grease, Shrek, Finding Nemo or Enter the Dragon and have no plans to.

I enjoyed the Omen, and would maybe add it to the watchlist.... but you've probably picked the 3 best ones there.

Pouzar, I seem to recall that in a previous post you said that you enjoyed 'Toy Story'. If so, I would recommend that you watch Shrek.

The CGI animation is similarly excellent and like Toy Story, Shrek also contains quite a bit of adult humour and parody.

Odd. There were 22 films I'd not seen but I've seen all of those. Does that mean we have diametrically opposite tastes? :)

WIth the exception of Casablanca they are all big box-office, big studio flag-ship movies and I tend to avoid those.

The only film on your list that I saw at the cinema was The Dark Knight and LOTR was the only other one from the whole 64. By the time they get to TV/DVD I have no idea/interest as to whether they were flagship films originally and tend to go by ratings/reviews etc. Each to their own I guess ;)

Finding Nemo is a great film to watch with a kid but has plenty for a grown up person as well. If you've never seen it then you may not know that my avatar features two of the stars. :)

In honesty you ain't missed much, with the notable exception that you really should see sometime (Casablanca) - of course if you were Scottish, Braveheart would be a must as well, but as an Englishman, perhaps not...

Nice of you to suggest it Billy. I'll try and get around to it - but it won't be this week. I have a strong Scorcese/gangster/hustler bias, but I do like a lot of films outside this genre too - won't be able to give a top 10, but I'll sit down one day and list as many as I can off the top of my head, and a little bit of reasoning why - there are a few which never featured in the lists in the end I think.
