I gave in and finally watched Serenity. I think that having watched the series it's hard to think of a film I've felt more involved watching because you normally only get a couple of hours to develop characters. Full of surprises with some proper action sequences it was awesome.

That's that then.

By "gave in" did you actively avoid/put off watching it, expecting it to be a disappointment in comparison to the series?

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I thought they got the balance just right with the film, between making sure the people new to Firefly got introduced and not chucked in at the deep end, and satisfying the fans of the show. Serenity should be used as a template for others in the future!

Gave in meaning that I've put off watching what I know is the final episode in one of my favourite shows ever.

I just wish there were some uber rich joss Whedon fans around who could back him as the networks seem to lose faith so quickly even for shows with hardcore cult followers.
