Firstly, apologies if posted in the wrong place.

Hoping someone can guide me here: I normally play the Telegraph and also fantasyleague pro. For those that don't know, this is a game where you hold a start of season auction, and you pick your squad - key is only one person gets each fantasy player. Now last year the priviledge of a poor website cost us £23 each. Does anyone know of an alternative option? we really like the social aspect of the auction and repeat ones each month, all triggered by the auction - so wouldn't want a game without that aspect.

Cheers and good luck next season!

Not my type of game (although it was my introduction to FF many years ago), I'll shift this to the OFL forum in a sec.

Might be worth a scan of Other FF games, there might be something in there to help you.

i played a similar game last year - run by the times i think (possibly called 'play the game')

you are placed into a pot of 10 players, and create a shortlist based on priority.

at a certain date the AI then goes through each players list, and selects the highest ranked player available for your actual squad.

very simple example:

my top 10
lampard
drogba
rooney
fabregas
ashley cole
defoe
bent
cech
arteta
tevez

your top 5
rooney
drogba
lampard
defoe
fabregas
tevez
vidic
reina
gerrard
lennon

i would get lampard
you would get rooney
i would get drogba
you would get defoe (as lampard and drogba have been assigned already)
i would get fabregas (rooney's gone)
you would get tevez
i would get ashley cole
you would get vidic
etc etc

i started off very strongly last season, but with no prizes, and not knowing who i was playing against, i quickly lost interest.

it may be possible to create a private league, tho, i'm not sure.

Didn't someone run something similar on here, a while back?

I did, but a change in my circumstances means I can't commit the time any more. Great fun though, and as I only used Excel for the auction part of it, there's no reason why some-one else can't do it...

OFL did run an Auction League with exactly the set up you talked about...theyve now combined it with their Pro League which is also very similar....Im in one of 9 teams but we keep our players from the year before....we may have a vacency if youre interested...however that League is 34 pounds...a little pricey.....you may be able to join a random Pro League but then you dont know how comitted the other players will be and when youre shelling out that sort of money you want to be able to enjoy it...

One of the problems with an auction game is that all the excitement is at the start! Which is why I used to allow managers to sign payers from the pool on a regular basis, and had plans to allow managers from the bottom of the league to steal players from those at the top. I don't think that ever actually happened though...

But someone needs to find a way to continue the extra excitement through the rest of the season.
