Well done for posting the results Sam.

John would want us to keep this going.

I guess we'll never know what the mystery prize was going to be :(

How about if half a dozen of us chip in a mystery prize for the eventual winner?

I'd be happy to put a little something by and send it off at the end of the year :)

was thinking the same myself, that sadly we will never know what he had in mind :(

I know they have already done something on the sungame forum for John, but as we all know he also enjoyed his golf games too and seemed to take particular pleasure in organising the mini-league for this game.

so I think your idea re the prize is a good idea and would be happy to chip in.

what about something that could go to the winner, and is then handed on each year to the next winner i.e. a memorial trophy for example

Strong line up this week and only have five players next week, or bring in lesser lights such as Coetzee, Luiten, Havret, Ramsay, Cabrera Bello, Jaidee etc now and maybe have a full compliment of 10 next week.

I guess the former as the big money is in the WGC Matchplay where you will want all 10 playing. Are Coetzee, Luiten playing in matchplay?

Spot on with your summary, I don't think there are any players scheduled to play both weeks. Luiten is close to qualifying for the Accenture, if he does I can see him withdrawing the week before.

Is it already looking like Rock and Lawrie are must haves. Really pleased I plumped for Tom Lewis over Rock at the last minute (I had thought it was 15 players and had to drop 5 LOL).

I'd bet Padmole's house on it that there won't be any players involved in the Avantha Masters and then the WGC Matchplay, so I personally don't think it's a good idea to plan to have more than five involved in India.

With only 10 in a team this year, if you're willing to take five of your Dubai Desert Classic team to the Matchplay, that leaves you five slots to change first for the Avantha Masters and then for another five in the Matchplay the week after.

Just checking I'm not losing the plot on this game- you do only get the money counting at the end of the year on those in top 10 and only the money whilst in your team and transferring out sends cash back to zero?

@ padmole: that was rule (but for top 15) up to two seasons ago.

Since then every euro earned by your team each week is retained, even if/when golfer is later transferred out.

From rules:

Select your team of 10 golfers before 03:00 GMT on Thursday, 26 January to ensure that your team starts accumulating money from the very first tournament.

Your team of 10 golfers then accumulate prize money based on their actual winnings (to the nearest euro) in subsequent 2012 European Tour events.

Five playing next week!!, I consider that quite good. As my current team stands, 6 this week and hehaw next!!! will need to consider transfers carefully tonight. Good job you mentioned the WGC as would probably not have noticed it until next week the way my luck has gone so far in this. Was going to put Rock changed my mind last thing, was going to put Peter Hanson in instead chose big Bob Karlsson, MC!!.

Let hope for a change of fortunes this week, already miles behind the overall leader!

Yes on reflection I think the strongest possible line up this week, five changes for Avantha Masters and then five back in for WGC Matchplay is the way to go. There is another $8.5m WGC event the following week, at Doral, so certainly don't want to be stuck with 10 players in Avantha none of which will be playing for the two following big money weeks.

Thanks for the info Sam :)

I wonder how many will get caught out this week and try to get a full team for Delhi.

I suspect most teams (that have prepared properly) will look similar by the time the match play comes round.

It's an act of balance. Putting in a 6th or 7th player this week, that ends in top 5, pays off better than reserving the spot for a player that only makes it to second round next week.

That's right, but the field this week is so poor, I actually only fancy 6 players this week to do well and 5 of them will be in my team. 8-)

Look out for a golfer getting their maiden victory this week. :) (which just about covers 95% of the field!)

Casey now out - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/golf/17067830 - and Coetzee is in and takes the 64th spot (so will play Donald assuming no more withdrawals).

Ouch!!

It's ridiculous that a player should be disqualified for such a trivial matter.

In a similar situation on Sunday, Siem had to call a penalty on himself because the ball moved (about a millimetre!) as he addressed it.

A lot of watchers must be put off playing the game because of these draconian rules.
