I find myself in a position where once the auto subs and bonus points become allocated that my second round fantasy cup match could end in a tie.

These are the rules on the site:

"If a cup match is drawn, then the following tie-breaks will be applied until a winner is found:

Most goals scored in the Gameweek
Fewest goals conceded in the Gameweek
Virtual coin toss"

He only has Walters and I only have RVP (yes we both had shockers)

So we go to the fewest goals conceded. This is where I become confused so am just going to run a few queries I have that some of you might be able to answer as i cant find any answers:

Does the fewest goals conceded rule apply to EVERY player in the team or just the defence and goalkeeper?

If its just the defence and keeper, then surely a formation with 3 in defence is at an unfair advantage?

Perhaps the midfielders are also counted as they get awarded an extra point for a clean sheet?

What if a team has players who didn't play this week (but as his subs didnt play are still left in the side)? For example, my opponent has Chris Eagles playing and has been left in the team. If midfielders apply to the fewest goals conceded rule, will he have the 1 wolves goal against him or will he not because he didnt play in the game?

Thanks in advance

If it's not in the rules than I doubt anyone here can answer it conclusively. Strange one though...

You're counting goals scored from all your players, not just midfielders and strikers. The rule about conceding is worded in exactly the same way: seems pretty unambiguous to me.

Of course defenders count for goals scored. They are awarded points for a goal! Whereas strikers dont ever have any link with goals conceded in the game, so i dont feel its as simple as youre making it sound.

Plus what about my other point about whether a player has to play to be affected by the goals conceded rule? My opponent also has Rooney so will he have the 3 blackburn goals against him even though he didnt play in the match?

The rules seem wishy washy to me.

I can see the confusion, however I doubt the latter to be true (as in, if you didn't play, I highly doubt they will take into account goals scored/against).

I should be able to clear this up. Last year I had my best (really my only) cup run in playing the game, made it through to the 10th round! Along the way, I won a game that was tied on points scored. Amazingly, we were also tied on goals scored. Then it went to fewest goals conceded, and I won because on the count of goals conceded by every player in my team, there were fewer than by every player in my oppo's team. So, unless they have changed it for this year, I can tell you from personal experience that the goals conceded applies to every player in your team (i.e., your final XI on the pitch after autosubs if applicable).

Edit: found the spreadsheet! Actually got knocked out in Round 11 but the tied game was in Round 7 vs .com Utd, the score was 86-86! Oh for an 86 point week!

Thank you Mr Clarinet. The bonus points have come through and in the end I won but i still think the rules of the Fantasy Cup could be tidied up a bit. I may sound really nit picky but somethings i think could be better explained.

It has to be borne in mind that the number of goals a player's team concedes is recorded on their record, and that is for all players regards of whether their field position entitles them to points (plus or minus) because of it.
