With a week to go until the draw (Friday 2 December), I thought we should get this up and running.

Concentrate, because it's not quite as simple as you might think:

• The pots are as follows:
  Pot 1 - Ukraine, Poland, Spain, Netherland
  Pot 2 - Germany, Italy, England, Russia
  Pot 3 - Croatia, Greece, Portugal, Sweden
  Pot 4 - Denmark, France, Czech Rep., Rep. Ireland

• The teams will be drawn into one of four groups of four teams. Each place in each group is identified by the group letter and numerical position, i.e. 'A1', 'B2', 'D4'. The different places are required as that determines the fixture list of each team.

• The hosts countries are already automatically allocated before the draw: Poland is A1, Ukraine is D1.

• Spain and Netherland, the other Pot 1 teams, can only be drawn in places B1 and C1.

• No more than one team per pot may be in the same group, for example Italy and Russia cannot be in the same group.

• Teams in Pots 2, 3 and 4 may be drawn into any place other than A1, B1, C1 and D1.

Right, do I really need to say how we determine who wins? The person who get the most teams in the right place in the draw wins.

I strongly advice that everyone re-reads the draw procedure - teams from pots 2, 3, and 4 can be drawn in ANY place (apart from 1) in any group and ONLY THE CORRECT PLACE, ie B2, D4, will count as a correct prediction, even if in the correct group.

Can't you give 3pts for correct position and 1 pt for correct group?

I certainly will, yes. Obviously, if you 'random it' a bit then you might give yourself more of a chance.
