guys, just want to ask what happened to Eboue? why did he lose his usual position as a right back to Sagna and sometimes (most of the time this season?) pop up at right mid? is it b/c RVP is out and Hleb was shifted to play forward?

my point is, if Eboue position is changed to be right mid....then i personally think it's a good bargain to get him if he's a regular, though it's slightly high for 6.3 at the moment, considering he's will have more role in attacking as a midfield in real life AND being counted as a defender in the FPL game..thus he's eligible to get 4 more pts for clean sheet.

and is there any player out there falls into the same case i mentioned eg. defendered shifted to midfield...except riise?

i don't know if this topic is already brought out and i'm sorry if it is.

With a fit Arsenal side, Hleb would play on the right wing & Sagna would play at right back. With Van Persie out, Hleb has been playing just behind Adebeyor (a la DB10 back in the day).

With RVP back in the fold after the international break, I would hold off on bringing him into your squad.

Hi quercus... welcome to the FPL forums! I must admit to having noticed Eboue too. He of course had a long term injury, and by then Wenger had found more than adequate cover, but Eboue is too good not to play, and he could soon prove a rarity - a defender playing out of position in midfield - potential gold mine.

However, he is a bit of a nutter and regularly gets booked - and so far hasn't scored the points to make me think I should have him - yet!

As far as other players playing out of position - Scharner springs to mind for Wigan - but poor value this season. I am sure there is a thread somewhere specifically for this subject.

have to disagree with you there jonathan. he is easily the weakest regular player in arsenal's team and with the might RVP to come back into the fray, i can't see him continuing (and thank god for that).

other players that are out of position: scharner @ wigan (but pants)

I've got Eboue on my watchlist too and have been watching his game time with interest. He seems to go rampaging forward and then, instead of passing the ball to an open player for a simple tap in, blasts the ball selfishly over the bar! He is a nutter... but could definitely be worth a shout if he turns into a regular starter. He certainly has an offensive attitude.

think its now quite clear what Wengers first choice 11 is whenever everyone is fit. He may occassionally rest and rotate players but if he had to win his 11 would be: Almunia, Sagna, Clichy, Toure, Gallas, Eboue, Flamini, Fab, Hleb, RVP and Adebayor.

He's got a great squad but this is his first choice right now. The only poosible decision he'd have to make would be between Eboue and Rosicky but i think it's clear that he currently favours the power and pace of Eboue down the right side with Sagna.

The fact that his team has now started to pick itself gives me added confidence that thet CAN actually win the league this season.

1. It doesn't seem he's a nailed on starter once others are back from injury and is yet to play a full 90 mins
2. AR have only kept 4 clean sheets.
One for the watchlist though

Have to disagree with you disagreeing with me, dublin_gooner! Before he got injured, Eboue was a strong Arsenal player, with good fantasy football value. Admittedly, things have changed at Arsenal, and he has taken time to become effective again, but whenever I have seen Arsenal on TV, Eboue has been a threat - but not yet delivered.

However, every Arsenal player seems a threat at the moment  - and I will agree that Eboue won't be the regular starter he was the season before last.

Emmanuel Eboue looks a reasonable pick in the short term (eg, monthly FF contests).

In season-long competitions, however, he could be overlooked because:

- of doubts as to whether he'll command a regular place in Arsenal's first XI, as discussed by others earlier

- he's due to join the Ivory Coast squad in Africa for a month from mid-January.

Good point in relation to the African Cup of Nations. With Toure off too, Arsenal could become quite vulnerable at the back.

If Sender-dross has to play instead, you might as well chalk in 1 (at least) in the opposition's favour before kick off.

If you are stuck for an Arsenal defender and do not already have Toure or Gallas then get Eboue shortly, they have a double gameweek soon and play Reading and Wigan next...

Clichy @ 6.0M is worth a look, too. He always looks dangerous on the overlap runs and should bag a few assists soon.
