It might have been completely barmy but I loved the last episode of the current series (and indeed the whole series). Liked the little tribute to Brigidier Lethbridge-Stewart from the old days, whose actor died earlier this year.

The plotting doesn't seem so ridiculous when the writing is so good and with such attention to detail - clearly written by someone who loves the programme.

Matt Smith has developed into one of the better Doctors IMO. He is signed up for the next series, and incidentally the one after that is the 50th Anniversary series.

BTW I thought they said someone was going to die in this series - although I think they all died at some point of the series, it never seemed irrevocable or to slow them down.

So looking ahead to the next series, what is the 'first question that must never be answered' :?:

I wasn't actually asking the never to be asked question as a question.

So all those bad: Knock, knock; Who's there? Doctor. Doctor Who? How did you know? gags are against the Law of Time, or something?

I would prefer the series to drop the never ending over arching plot lasting for ever revelation stuff as I don't think it works very well or stands up to close scrutiny. I would like to see more single and two part stories that are full of good story telling.

Having said that I continue to enjoy Dr Who and think that Matt makes a great Doctor. Roll on the Christmas Special which is now tradintional viewing for all of our family. :D

Matt Smith spoils it for me.As soon as he starts speaking it seems like a solely for children's programme. The words seem written for David Tennent and delivered by a smurf.

The sexual tension is definite novelty for Dr Who. Is River his daughter, and\or lover?

I think it keeps getting better, which is a rare thing these days, execpt when that despicable unfunny comedian appears. Being fat does not make you funny

I'd prefer it if the next few companions didn't fancy the Doctor. Fair enough with River but not anyone else.

Not his daughter, but conceived in the time matrix thingy in the Tardis so is kind of part human, part time lord, part tardis? Think that's the general idea isn't it??

An Immaculate Conception? :?

Isn't the Tardis the very female (and delicious) Suranne Jones?

I thought this had been explained

Amy & Rory are Melody's/River's parents

Melody/River has the ability to jump through time due to picking up Tardis DNA as she was conceived on board the Tardis.

Blimey, but then they think he was shagging Bonnie Langford, which is just plain daft.

Never heard of her, no idea if she can act but looks like a cracking idea by the BBC.

I trust Amy's short skirts are stil in the Tardis wardrobe.

She was even better in Waterloo Road, where she wore a school uniform.

I best stop now

The big Doctor Who news today was the unveiling of Jenna-Louise Coleman as the new companion to Matt Smith's Time Lord, but a few other interesting morsels slipped out at this morning's (March 21) press conference...

Showrunner Steven Moffat revealed that current Who stars Karen Gillan (Amy Pond) and Arthur Darvill (Rory Williams) will exit the sci-fi drama following a final fateful encounter with the terrifying Weeping Angels.

Doctor Who Official ‏ @bbcdoctorwho
There will be 6 episodes this year  , including the Xmas Special.

Then 8 next year. Jenna's character will first be seen at Xmas.

===========================
Only 5 before Christmas

Is this because the BBC have spent so much on the Reality Singing show ???
