Superb second series, as was the first, but I can't find too many people I know that watch it. It would be excellent to do follow-up programmes tracking how the companies progress that were given funding - or even those that were refused fuding in relation to whether they made a success of things or not.

Anyone else like it?

I watch it now and again.

Can’t believe four of the five wanted a share of the truck washing business that was on last night. Great idea though and well presented by the bloke.

It did look a great system but the Dragons always want so much more percentage of a company than the proposer expects to give away.

How about that bloke presenting the gym-in-an-easy-chair gadget

I'm becoming a watcher of reality TV

Amazing Race
The Apprentice
Dragons Den

Can't believe how poorly prepared most are

The guy with the truck business was spot on, researched the market, had customers and open points available and a track record to back it up, the most impressive thing was his wisdom to go with Theo and his track record as opposed to the perma tan chancer

The gym chair was great the old codgers trying to get fit in living room comment didn't just have DB crying with laughter I was too

I love it. I think this is now the 3rd series although I have missed the first 2 parts unfortunately. They did do a follow up after the first series, and quite a few of the people who had got funding ended up having disagreements and they parted company. It also showed some of the people who got turned down who had gone on to make a success.

Never seen it, but they film it in a building that my office overlooks. If I knew who they were I could say I've seen so and so drinking their coffees etc. as their mobile canteen is visible from where I am. Fame eh?

We've had the first 2 series of the English version in NZ, which I really enjoyed, and the Aussie series which was, shall we say, a tad cruder. TVNZ is currently producing its own version which, given the rather parsimonious nature of most Kiwis, might be short of positive outcomes.

Disappointed to read that Doug Richards isn't in the new series in England as I found him the most interesting and articulate of the Dragon. Can't believe that Duncan "I'm oot" Ballantyne is still in the Den as he rarely has anything constructive to offer.

I must have missed the first series and the follow-ups then - hope they repeat them!

Doug was a favourite of mine too but he didn't make the last series either - where Theo took his place. I don't know the reason why he is not in this series but I would imagine the time constraints on them is quite high. The American/Canadian chap (quite smarmy, knew he was clever), didn't make this series after being in the first two.

Actually, thinking about it and saying all that, this is of course the 3rd series as the Red Letter Days lady survived into the second series even though her company had gone bust and bought out by a couple of the other Dragons. The other scary lady has taken her place.

Thanks DD - I forget the Beeb have that feature. The guy with the eggs had a fantastic idea and even though his demos didn't work he still got the full funding - expecting to see one of those in my Bettaware catalogue very shortly!

I've been watching it occasionally since I saw a former world speedway champion (Sam Ermolenko) pop up on there assisting someone coming in for funding. Although the product had absolutely nothing to do with bikes or racing or indeed anything interesting for that matter.

The egg thing was v funny although I only caught it because the hotel room I was in didn't have Sky so I was stuck hunting around for TV to watch.

I think you're confusing Doug with someone else. He actually was the smarmy American/Canadian Guy!!

I've watched all three and Doug was in the first two series - all the way through.

I'm not sure who you're referring to who dropped out half way through the second series?

I think it was the way in which they were all so obviously keen on it - fighting over it. Peter Jones showed himself up a bit by (IMHO) failing to understand the key points of the business..

mmm... you are right of course, although I didn't say anyone dropped out mid-series . The chap I am thinking of is sitting down on the right of this picture... you man Doug is standing up at the back - left.

He did show his hand very early - even before knowing the full facts I think. Mind you - at least he always says what he feels rather than wait for everyone else to speak like the new "bird" to see what they think

That's the chap! I liked him - almost eccentric.

I had to watch some of tonight's show behind a cushion. The women with the sock wellies  and the beach towel with pockets was teaching them all a thing or two wasn't he?

Inventions is what they like - not ideas.... INVENTIONS! I thought the sonar device chap had lost them when he said that the boat would be out of range of the device within 3 seconds. :D He knew his stuff though... classic reaction by Peter when he was rejected.

Best thing on TV by a long way for me!

I watched it all the way through for the first time tonight and enjoyed bits of it but wouldn't bother watching it again. Too much of a reality TV show for my liking; I prefer my distractions to be unreal.

BTW what a fantastic double whammy this weekend. Big Brother ends and EPL starts up. :D :D :D :D :D

I think the new woman is much better, can't have been nice for creditiors of the other one ( I lost a £275 experience for my son) to see her sitting there with a pile of money

Peter Jones is becoming the Mark "weak pun" Lawrenson of the panel

DB value for money as ever

Don't like the chancer on the end and Theo is the man I'd want to do business with

DB did a deal with Watfords goalkeeper last night

Just goes to show how opinions differ - I think the new bloke on the end has a bit of class and humility about him that most of the others lack. Peter Jones is also generally incisive and fair. Duncan Ballantyne on the other hand is rude and boorish and Theo is a caricature of himself...

I like DB because he can add a touch of humour him crying with laughter whilst for once Peter Jones was really funny with the gym chair was the highlight of the series

Peter Jones was my favourite but he now feels the need with every rejection to get a pun in

Theo for me is the person that would do the most to help a budding millionaire and is most suitable for most of the people on there

Richard? the new guy, bit too eager on the first 2 shows to tell you how succesful he was and the st tropez treatment just make it seem like this is an ego trip, whereas simon woodroffe for instance was geuinely interested in the people in front of him

A couple of others points about Richard that I like. He always gives what I consider to be the fairest offer. He also never makes fun of the person or the product directly. His decisions always are made on what appears to be objective financial grounds.

DB and TP will frequently make personal or disparaging remarks about the individual or the product itself.

I'll give you both of those points

However I do believe anyone going on there understands first and foremost it''s a TV programme and what that may mean

I often think there's a Gentlemans agreement in place regarding offers that he doesn't subscribe to, seen Peter Jones in particular give him some looks so far

Not that I'd dissaprove of that in fact he'd score points with me for that
