I presume there are lots of other folks such as judges, teachers, the police, vets, accountants and the like who have to pay each year to be put on a register or such like so that they can continue to do their jobs?

I have to pay to have letters after my name. I don't strictly have to have them but it helps. Also all of the reps I work with pay a lot of money (or the company does anyway) to the FSA and similar organisations each year to allow them to trade.

Is that what you were talking about?

Does this one also provide automatic entry to the Dyslexia Association?

In answer to opening post: yes, but some employers do subsidise or pay in full for such registration.

Yes - but as they are "necessary" for me to do my job my employer pays.

If they didn't it would be tax deductible.

I've always wondered whereby if you are needed to be on a register to do your job then surely those people after your services should pay to maintain it.

However if you are a self employed plumber or whatever then that doesn't work out does it. :?

I suppose that after a particularly bad week at work where you have given so much for so little in return (not talking money here) and where you see your conditions, resources and the amount of training you are expected to do to continue in your line of work increase it's a little frustrating when a yearly bill drops through the letter box that you have to pay to continue working.

Obviously though it could be worse.

They don't have to!

If you don't maintain your membership annually you come off the register and cant work anymore!

Oh, they send you a monthly public health magazine, which is nice :D

The majority of companies will cover the cost of this if employed for over 1 year from the license issue date
